Cabbagetown Chomp and Stomp 2016

Date:  Saturday, November 5th
Time: 11am

About: Join us for this year’s Chomp & Stomp Chili Cook-off and Bluegrass Festival benefiting Cabbagetown parks and community center! This year’s Chomp features chili from over 70 individual chili teams and 25 of your favorite local restaurants (including Staplehouse, LadybirdSouthern Gentleman, and Ria’s Bluebird). The stompin’ starts at 11:00 with bands playing at each of our three stages. The chili tasting begins at 12:30pm. ARRIVE EARLY to get your spoons and tokens from any of our 5 Welcome Centers. A $5 spoon is your ticket to the CHOMP. That means all the chili you can eat from your favorite restaurants and local friends! This year, in an effort to cut down on the beer lines, we are selling drink tokens at each of our 5 Welcome Centers. You can purchase these tokens along with your spoon when you arrive at CHOMP.

The chili at Chomp & Stomp always runs out fast, but with access to the Foodie Tent, you’ll have five guaranteed tastings from some of the top competing restaurants, including past winners Grindhouse and The Albert. Ria’s Bluebird, General Muir, Southern Gentleman, and even Octane Coffee will all be there too. You’ll also get to rub elbows with the competition’s celebrity judges. The team of judges this year includes restaurateur extraordinaire Ford Fry, and master chef Asha Gomez from Spice to Table, so it’s safe to say that this is the place to be for any true Atlanta foodie. All festival-goers will enjoy beer from Sweetwater Brewing, but the Foodie Tent will give you a leg up on all the imbibers. Each of your five chili tastings inside the Foodie Tent will be paired with a limited-edition, special reserve Sweetwater brew. That’s right beer lovers, this is your chance to get a taste of some Sweetwater offerings that you can’t find in stores! This year the beer list includes Sweetwater’s Pit and Pendulum, Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout, 19th Anniversary Ale, and Festival Ale. The cherry on top of all this exclusive eating, drinking, and mingling will be a custom apple pie cocktail from festival sponsor George Dickel, and a souvenir Chomp & Stomp pint glass to take home. The Foodie Tent is $69.
