52ND ANNUAL ATLANTA STEEPLECHASE

On April 22, 2017, more than 15,000 individuals are expected to be at Kingston Downs for the running of the 52nd Annual Atlanta Steeplechase. With guests ranging from children to corporate executives, this year’s event will benefit Bert’s Big Adventure, a nonprofit organization that provides a magical, all-expenses-paid, five-day journey to Walt Disney World® for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families. Atlanta Steeplechase is in its 52nd year of operation. It has steadily grown into metro-Atlanta and Georgia’s spring social and sporting event of the year. The event is held annually at the beautiful 435-acre Kingston Downs complex. To ensure maximum attendance and enjoyment, the event offers a wide range of spectator categories. Steeplechase patrons enjoy the circuit’s best horses and jockeys showcased in five premier races throughout the afternoon. The gates will open at 9 AM and races will begin at 1:30 PM. The daylong event is filled with thrilling horse races, The Von Maur hat contests, tent contests, a foxhound parade, skydivers, The Publix Supermarkets Kidz Coral, terrier races, shopping, people watching, and so much more. From the party place, the Infield, to the corporate exclusive Chairman’s Tent, the Atlanta Steeplechase offers something for everyone.

ATLANTA SPRING WINE FEST 2017

The first annual Atlanta Spring Wine Fest will be held on Saturday, April 15th from 1-5pm. We will have over 100 wines as well as a selection of beer and cider to choose from. There will be live music, plenty of fun and games, and food will be available for purchase. The wine list will be added to the website soon. http://atlantawinefestival.com. Tickets are now on sale. $45 advance and $50 after April 6th.

HIPSTER YARD SALE ATL SPRING 2017

The founder of Hipster Yard Sale ATL, Timothy A. Hand, who has created several market events around the city as well as being the artistic director of Ex Somnium, a experimental performing arts company, is moving to Hawaii later this Summer but is passing the Hipster torch to Sara Luhr, the curator and organizer of the 4th Ward Flea Market. She will be taking over the marketplace event after he leaves and will keep it going. Hipster Yard Sale ATL’s next event will be Saturday, April 22nd from 8am-4pm and will be in collaboration with The Friends of Chapel Hill Park, lead by community organizer Linda Cotten-Taylor. The 2nd Hipster Yard Sale at this location (its 4th event in total) is free to the public.

WILD HEAVEN SECOND BREWERY AND TAPROOM!

With the Georgia General Assembly’s passage of SB85 allowing direct sale of beer by Georgia breweries, Wild Heaven Beer today announces plans for a second brewery and taproom location at the Lee + White development in Atlanta adjacent to the Beltline Westside Trail. The freestanding building, including over 21,000 square feet of space with room for expansion, includes a large area overlooking the Atlanta Beltline perfect for patrons to enjoy being outdoors while sipping beer and nibbling food made on site.

SKYLINE PARK ATLANTA’S INAUGURAL SPRING FLING EVENT

Springtime is in the air and the roof at Ponce City Market invites you to celebrate its first official spring season at Skyline Park’s inaugural Spring Fling event on Saturday, April 1, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Shake off the winter blues with a festive afternoon and evening of 360-degree skyline views, outdoor entertainment and games, seasonal festivities and carnival-themed fare. The event will kick off with family-friendly fun from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. During this time, the rooftop amusement park will come alive with activities such as face painting, balloon artists, bubble machines and photo opportunities with life-size garden fairies. Children and adults will also enjoy unlimited access to Skyline Park’s acclaimed Heege Tower and three-story slide, in addition to Midway games that range from $1 to $3. Daytime admission will be $10 for adults and children. Children under three are free. From 4 to 11 p.m., Skyline Park will transform into an adults-only fun zone. Evening admission will be $20 and open to guests 21 years old and up.

17TH ANNUAL BACONFEST RETURNS THIS SATURDAY!

A fixture in the Atlanta community, Dad’s Garage Theatre’s 17th annual BaconFest will combine troughs upon troughs of cold beer and sizzlin’ bacon with hilarious carnival games like a hobo wine tasting, naughty face painting, and a flip cup tournament manned by the best improvisers in the city. Selling out every year, all proceeds benefit Dad’s Garage – a nonprofit theatre group that engages, cultivates and inspires artists and audiences alike by producing innovative, scripted and improvised works that are recognized locally, nationally and internationally for being undeniably awesome. BaconFest 2017

Atlanta’s outrageously savory and oft-salacious annual event, BaconFest, is set to return in 2017. The 17th annual event takes place Saturday, March 25, 2017 and we urge bacon-lovers to keep that date open and their attention locked on Dad’s, as the innovative, comedic crew will be revealing juicy details in the coming weeks about the 2017 meaty extravaganza. All proceeds benefit Dad’s Garage Theatre Company, a nonprofit theatre group that engages, cultivates and inspires artists and audiences alike by producing innovative, scripted and improvised works that are recognized locally, nationally and internationally for being undeniably awesome. Tickets are either Bottomless Bacon for $50 and Whole Hog for $95. Bottomless Bacon includes Unlimited Beer (Pale Ale, Tropical Torpedo, Otra Vez, Summerfest, and Miller Lite), Unlimited Bacon, and Games. Whole Hog includes all Bottomless Bacon options plus VIP room, more beer selection, and an April Loyalty Card to Dad’s Garage shows for free.

Hush Hush A Silent Disco Experiment

Get ready to rock a LED headset and flip between 3 styles of music for all new dance experience on Edgewood Ave in Atlanta! How does it work? The music is transmitted from FM sound waves to the LED headsets. We can either stream the music, have a playlist or use a live DJ on each colored station. The participants can choose what station and volume of their headsets. We plan to spend 2 hours at 3 different locations on the event! Hush Hush is the next wave of silent disco in this country and we’ll call it the silent disco experiment. Ready for some “Daylife” full of fun and drinking during the day? We are taking silent disco out of the clubs/festivals and creating a mobile music listening environment. Silent Disco is where all participants wear wireless LED headsets tuned to 2-3 different types of music. The headsets have 3 Led Colors, (blue, green & red), that coordinate with different styles of music. For example, we may have 80’s old wave on station 1, EDM on station 2 and top 40 club music on station 3. The venue will be completely quiet and you can have conversations with no interruptions due to loud music. There is only 300 spaces for the first event and plan to do this quarterly in Atlanta in various locations. Our plan is to visit 3 venues while dancing our way down the sidewalk from place to place …
