DragonCon 2016

Celebrating 30 years, Dragon Con is the internationally known pop culture convention held each Labor Day in Atlanta. Organized for fans, Dragon Con features more than 3,300 hours of comics, film, television, costuming, art, music and gaming over four days. More than 70,000 fans, dealers, artists, guests, and volunteers attended Dragon Con in 2015. Dragon Con 2016 is expected to draw more than 75,000 unique visitors. Major events include our Annual Parade down Peachtree Street, the inaugural Dragon Awards for fantasy and science fiction literature, Guest of Honor Awards Banquet, Masquerade, and Dragon Con Night at the Georgia Aquarium. The actors, writers and artists that come to Dragon Con are the backbone of the show. In 2016, Dragon Con is looking forward to Karl Urban, William Shatner, Alex Kingston, James Marsters, Charlie Cox, Jack Gleeson, and Robin Lord Taylor will be among the all-star guest list that covers television, movies, literature, comics, gaming, and other realms. Attendees have the chance to meet their favorites in the Walk of Fame and elsewhere at the convention. Members and guests can also participate in panels, workshops, and contests hosted by more than 35 different fandoms covering everything from science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, science, literature, puppetry and film. Workshops give attendees a chance to work closely with experts on writing, art, acting, costuming, and astronomy. Other programming events include live concerts, puppet shows, late night parties, DJ hosted dances, and Thursday Night Wrestling. Registration is open to the public. Four-day memberships are $130 until August 19. Four-day memberships are $150 between August 20 and August 30, when prices return to $130 but are only available on-site. One day memberships are also available, and can be purchased on-site at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel only.

TOAST THE TREES EVENT AT GRAIN WITH ANGEL’S ENVY

To celebrate National Bourbon Heritage Month and the Toast The Trees month-long initiative, GRAIN will be hosting a special event on Thursday, September 1st beginning at 7 p.m. featuring Angel’s Envy cocktail specials and pairings, sidewalk games and prizes, a raffle with an array of prizes, including a barrel aging kit and a special blend session with an Angel’s Envy Local Whiskey Guardian, and more. LILBURN BEER FEST 2016

Atlanta Beer Festivals and the City of Lilburn will host the First Lilburn Beer Fest at Lilburn City Park on Saturday, September 17, 2016, 3pm-7pm. This event will feature over 100 beers, wines and ciders from Local Atlanta and Georgia breweries, as well as some great breweries from around the country. Tickets will be $35 advance, $40 after Sept. 8, and $50 day of the event.

PONCE CITY MARKET TO HOST “MAKE YOUR MEAL: A CELEBRATION OF HOME COOKS”

On Tuesday, October 18th, from 4pm to 8pm, Ponce City Market will host “Make Your Meal: A Celebration of Home Cooks,” a free food and drink tasting and shopping event open to the public in the Central Food Hall. The October 18th event will celebrate the grocery aspect of the Central Food Hall, and visitors will have the opportunity to sample dishes and drinks from chefs at tables set up in front of their restaurants. Every dish and drink featured during the tasting event will highlight at least one ingredient available for purchase inside the respective food or drink stall. Chefs will also have take-home recipe cards for visitors who are interested in making the dish or cocktail at home using ingredients from the Central Food Hall.
