FOGO DE CHAO BRINGS SECOND ATLANTA LOCATION TO DUNWOODY

We were invited on Tuesday, November 29th to experience Fogo de Chao's newest location in Dunwoody. They have tons of offerings from salmon to heart of palm to black pepper candied bacon on their salad bar, as well as every meat imaginable. The best was the bacon wrapped filet, followed by the lamb chop, and the parmesan pork. Everything is delicious and the drink list is impeccable. Beyond that, they have stepped it up a notch with modern, yet inviting decor. Here's more information about Fogo de Chao's newest location below, as well as menu offerings. Enjoy!

Amalfi Pizza

You would think you were walking into a little Italian trattoria with the authentic terrace and gardens, not a local Atlanta restaurant nestled in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Located in the old Daily’s upstairs spot, Amalfi Pizza looks down on the little Italian ambiance below. Specializing in Neapolitan pizza and authentic Italian cuisine, the layout of the restaurant and cuisine centers around their two large, 6,000-pound wood-burning brick ovens that were imported from Italy! That being said when you walk in you immediately notice the open air and prominent kitchen area where you can sit and watch your (and others) pizzas being made right in front of you! That’s the highlight of Amalfi is to enjoy the pizza making experience along with the good food. They have a variety of pizza including the margarita that had a good balance of cheese and sauce, with simple yet good ingredients. Beyond the pizza, they have salads like the beet salad with arugula and a helping of beets, as well as appetizers like Bruschetta and meatballs. For those of you interested in a dinner unwind, the wine list we sampled was top notch, as well as, a great beer and cocktail list. And if you want an after-dinner cocktail head to Red Phone Booth below and be kind to your server at Amalfi, they will have the phone number to some of the best cocktails in Atlanta! Hint.

Glendalough Whiskey Tasting at Ladybird

We have found our new favorite place in Atlanta! With a sprawling outdoor space full of lounge chairs and picnic tables, as well as that summer camp feel, The Ladybird is THE place to hang out in Atlanta! Now, let's talk about the Glendalough Distillery out of Ireland brought their A game with several cocktails mixed with their Whiskey. The best one and maybe the best cocktail We've ever had? The Blackbird Punch. All the flavors balanced out the sweetness of the whiskey and the tartness of the black tea. We had to have seconds. We also can't speak enough about the food either. We tried the Navajo Fry Bread, Chicken Tortilla Soup, and the Collard Green side. Everything was very good! We've never ever seen Navajo Fry Bread on a menu. Please, whatever you do, go and try it. It's that good.

O’Leary Fine Wine Tasting at STK with Mr. Wonderful

We got invited to hang out with Mr. Wonderful, Kevin O'Leary, of ABC Shark Tank on Tuesday, March 7th. There to promote his brand of wine, O'Leary Fine Wine, STK pulled out all the stops with wine tasting of both the chardonnay and cabernet, as well as light bites. The chardonnay was full-bodied with a light hint of oak, but nothing overpowering. Chardonnay isn't always our favorite but this one was just enough buttery and the right balance of oak. As far as the light bites, we adore STK's steak, so we were thrilled they had some to sample. They also had a mushroom and goat cheese sample that was so delicious with that hint of real goat cheese and the smooth mushroom finish. As for Mr. Wonderful, he is very approachable and really enjoyed talking to everyone one-on-one. He also had no problem socializing and talking up his wine, which he had the utmost enthusiasm. It was nice to meet a TV personality that was down-to-earth and simply wanted to chat with you about anything from your business, to his business, to his wine.

Monday Night’s Once Upon A Dream Prom

It was like a throw back to the simpler times of impressing the boys, wondering what to wear to class, and cramming for that important exam. Prom. There were several highlights of the Once Upon a Dream Prom: one being the parade of mullets. We didn't expect there to be more mullets than in Daytona Beach and Pensacola combined! Also, the barrage of 80's clad tuxes and dresses were hilarious and that's the angle we'll take if we do this again next year. Side pony tail, please. All-in-all a fun night of dancing, sipping Monday night beer, and taking in the sites.

New Menu Preview at STK Atlanta

We found ourselves in the midst of STK Atlanta's new menu preview for Winter, and we enjoyed every minute of it. Every. Minute. We tried everything from steak to swordfish to tuna, as well as desserts, appetizers, and cool new cocktails. Here are a few of our favorite things. The entrees were really dynamite with a triple threat: swordfish, tuna, and steak. Liz's favorites was Swordfish and John's was the steak. Both stellar. Of the other elements: the beet salad was delicious and the chocolate cake was the overwhelming favorite of the desserts.

The Joy Formidable at Park Tavern

On Sunday, September 6th at Park Tavern. One of our favorite bands right now is the rockin, grunin', and all-out fun band, The Joy Formidable, from Whales. To our delight, they played a free and intimate concert at Park Tavern where we could hear everything from their big hit, Whirring to Cradle to This Ladder Is Ours. If you've never heard them, they have a fresh, electronic sound that mixes grunge and rock elements with some of the best guitar and drums to come out in the new Millenia. The highlight of this detour was, of course, meeting Ritzy, the lead singer of the band! She had a beautiful accent and had some nice things to say about Atlanta. #girlcrush! The other highlight was getting to see our favorite Atlanta band, Today the Moon, Tomorrow The Sun play with one of our favorite rock bands!

DragonCon 2015

Thursday, September 3rd to Monday, September 7th. All-in-all, DragonCon 2015 was a success all the way around. The Highlights by day: opening night there was an Amish group that would yell "knees" when they saw a girl's bare knees. This is something I've never seen at DragonCon. Well, done. Friday was #forcefriday and an AT-AT stormed the Marriott Marquis lobby, not to mention Felicia Day is as darling as she appears to be on TV. Did you know she wrote a book? She's a renaissance woman. On Saturday, the Sleepy Hollow panel didn't disappoint with Tom Mison being called "super hot Jesus" and Nicole Beharie coming in late to the joke.
