Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 2/25/21

Join your fellow cerevisaphiles Saturday, March 6, for Georgia Beer Day, the yearly celebration of all things craft beer in The Peach State. This annual event, which is organized by the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild (GCBG), benefits the GCBC and its member breweries.

As part of this year’s Georgia Beer Day, 50 breweries across the state will be offering a limited edition collector’s pint glass. In partnership with GCBG member breweries and Boelter Glassware, $1 from every glass will be donated to the GCBC to help promote, protect and further the common interests of its members and Georgia’s licensed brewing industry.

The 2021 inaugural pint glass showcases full color art by Larry Choskey and features prominent state symbols including: the Cherokee Rose (state flower), Southern Live Oak (state tree), Honeybee (state insect) and the Brown Thrasher (state bird) as the centerpiece.

Additionally, the participating breweries below will be offering specials all day long. Please check your favorite brewery’s website and social media pages to learn more about what each is offering.

MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC CLASSIC RETURNS TO TPC SUGARLOAF MAY 10 – MAY 16 PLUS HOPSPITALITY SPACE, THE PERCH.

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 2/22/21

The new hospitality venue offers local craft beer, food and unparalleled views at two of the most exciting golf holes at TPC Sugarloaf during Georgia’s only PGA TOUR Champions event

Spectators at this year’s Mitsubishi Electric Classic can catch a bird’s eye view of the action at The Perch, a new open-air covered “hopsitality®” venue presented by Axis Companies.

The Perch gives fans unobstructed views of the 10th green and 11th hole as 81 PGA TOUR Champions professionals compete for a $1.8 million purse at TPC Sugarloaf, one of the region’s most celebrated courses.

“Whether you’re an individual looking for an ‘elevated’ experience or a business that wants to entertain clients, The Perch is the perfect place to take in this year’s tournament,” says Monte Ortel, executive director of the Mitsubishi Electric Classic. “It’s a unique social experience that will let fans feel like they’re part of the action while enjoying specialty offerings from our venue partners Slow Pour Brewing Company, Stillfire Brewing and Tequila Mama.”

Suwanee’s StillFire Brewing and Lawrenceville’s Slow Pour Brewing Company will be pouring delicious craft beers throughout the weekend at The Perch. In addition to standard offerings, StillFire Brewing will release Par 3 Pilsner and Slow Pour Brewing Company will release its Living is Easy sour, both brewed exclusively for the tournament. Additionally, Tequila Mama will serve fan-favorites from its scratch-made multicultural menu.

In response to COVID-19, the Mitsubishi Electric Classic is implementing all State of Georgia and PGA TOUR health guidelines at The Perch, as well as throughout the tournament.

Tickets for The Perch are $125 per day and include two beers and lunch. Liquor, wine and additional beer will be available for purchase inside the venue. All children over the age of two must have a ticket to enter. The venue will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday through Sunday of tournament week.

Limited single day tickets to The Perch can be purchased HERE, and additional ticketing options are available at: https://www.axs.com/events/397431/mitsubishi-electric-classic-tickets?q=mitsubishi.

More about the tournament:

This preeminent golf tournament features icons of the game, including Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Bernhard Langer and Colin Montgomerie

Georgia’s premier PGA TOUR Champions event is set to return to Duluth this May, featuring the same exciting level of play on one of the region’s most storied courses.

The tournament, which debuted in 2013 and continues to build on Atlanta’s rich golf heritage, is a family-friendly affair where spectators can see their favorite seasoned players in-person and enjoy social events throughout the week, making it an environment that all can enjoy.

“The tournament has something for everyone,” says Monte Ortel, executive director of the Mitsubishi Electric Classic. “Serious fans look forward to the household names who compete, and casual viewers enjoy the multi-day social atmosphere. Additionally, players love it because they’re intimately familiar with TPC Sugarloaf since the course was home to the PGA TOUR’s AT&T Classic from 1997 to 2008.”

The 54 hole tournament will feature 81 PGA TOUR Champions professionals vying for a $1.8 million prize purse and to improve their standing in the Charles Schwab Cup points list. The full field will be announced over the coming weeks.

Past champions include World Golf Hall of Fame member Bernhard Langer (2013); Spain’s Miguel Ángel Jiménez (2014); Olin Browne (2015); Woody Austin (2016); Stephen Ames (2017); Steve Flesch (2018); and Scott McCarron (2019), who used his Mitsubishi Electric Classic victory as a launching pad towards his first Charles Schwab Cup.

“While we’re proud of the caliber of player we attract, the Mitsubishi Electric Classic is much more than a golf tournament,” says Keijiro Hora, president and CEO Mitsubishi Electric US Holdings Inc. “This event is very much charity-focused, and we’re proud that our giving remains in Gwinnett County and the surrounding metro Atlanta areas to help positively impact the local community.”

Since its first iteration in 2013, the annual tournament has raised over $2.5 million dollars for local charities, including primary beneficiaries, Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Additionally, the Mitsubishi Electric Classic offers participation in the Birdies for Charity program, providing additional local non-profit organizations with an opportunity to raise additional funds to support their missions. For more information on Birdies for Charity and to make a pledge/donation, visit: mitsubishielectricclassic.com/charity/birdies-for-charity/.

In response to COVID-19, the Mitsubishi Electric Classic is following all State of Georgia and PGA TOUR health guidelines to ensure the safety of athletes, fans, staff and everyone else involved with the tournament. A full list of safety protocols will be released in the coming weeks.

This year’s tournament is the first in a five-year partnership extension between Mitsubishi Electric and the PGA TOUR Champions. The extension includes the Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai and the Mitsubishi Electric Classic, as well as status as an official marketing partner with the PGA TOUR.

2021 ATLANTA JEWISH FILM FESTIVAL STREAMS TO AT-HOME AUDIENCES, PLUS EXPANDED Q&A, DRIVE-IN, VIRTUAL LOBBY, AND OTHER EXPERIENCES

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 2/10/21

Atlanta Jewish Film Festival Announces Full Lineup and Reimagines Annual Event for a Virtual World

The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival (AJFF), one of the most influential Jewish film festivals in the world, continues to cement its status as an innovator. Since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, AJFF has pivoted to all-virtual programming and reimagined the entirety of its landmark festival, which is set to take place Feb.17-28. In addition to watching movies from the comfort and convenience of home via a Virtual Cinema, audiences will also enjoy three nights of drive-in movies at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and The Home Depot Backyard, plus in-depth and expanded Q&A conversations, a “Virtual Lobby” to connect with other moviegoers, a curated and custom “Festival-In-A-Box” for Opening Night ticket holders, along with other special experiences.

AJFF has also announced its full 2021 lineup, providing audiences a robust selection of diverse and high-caliber films for which the festival has become known. This year, more than 500 films were submitted for consideration, with 38 feature and 16 short films selected – including three World premieres, eight North American premieres, three U.S. premieres, and one world premiere local film. The film selection covers a range of genres, with everything from introspective biographies like Howie Mandel: But, Enough About Me; topical themes like On Broadway or Atlanta: The City Too Busy to Wait; side-splitting comedies like Shiva Baby; LGBTQ+ stories like Kiss Me Kosherpowerful dramas like Asia; and so much more. The full lineup and schedule are available at AJFF.org.

“In a year of firsts and unprecedented challenges, AJFF has worked tirelessly to reimagine the annual festival in a way that preserves the most cherished qualities of this annual celebration of community and the cinematic arts,” said AJFF Executive Director Kenny Blank. “Though the experience itself will be undeniably different, the power of these films to connect and inspire us is more deeply felt and appreciated than ever. Our hybrid edition embraces all of the opportunities that virtual affords us while continuing our commitment to bring audiences ‘together through film’ in new ways.”

The 2021 AJFF will feature a number of new offerings and experiences, including:

Extensive At-Home Viewing Options:
For a full 12 days, AJFF’s diverse lineup of narrative and documentary shorts and features are accessible to viewers from the comfort of home. Powered by CineSend, AJFF’s Virtual Cinema will allow audiences to access the best in Jewish cinema from a smart TV, home theater, tablet, or mobile device.  Requiring only a single ticket per film for each household, viewers will have a flexible 48-hour window to watch festival films at their convenience. Each film has a limited capacity of views, so audiences are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance. General admission for virtual screenings is $16/household ($14 early bird pricing), and for special events, which include Opening and Closing Night, admission is $36/household.

Drive-In Screenings at The Home Depot Backyard at Mercedes-Benz Stadium:
Against the spectacular backdrop of Mercedes-Benz Stadium, AJFF invites audiences to enjoy the throwback fun of drive-in movies at the 11-acre greenspace of The Home Depot Backyard. Accommodating over 200 vehicles nightly for this premium experience, the AJFF drive-in includes three special evenings of film on Feb.18, Feb. 20, and Feb. 21. Kicking off with AJFF’s Young Professionals Night, followed by two campy, kitschy Hollywood classics: Mel Brooks’s sci-fi spoof Spaceballs and the musical comedy Little Shop of Horrors, this exciting venue provides guests the ability to watch on the big screen while remaining safely socially distant. Each drive-in pass can be purchased for $40 and accounts for parking for one car, regardless of how many people are in the vehicle, so bring the whole family along! Food trucks will be on-site serving delicious bites, to enjoy from the comfort of your vehicle.

Expanded Q&A Offerings Featuring Filmmakers, Actors + Experts:
AJFF has long been recognized for fostering dialogue and building bridges of understanding between audiences of different faiths and backgrounds. This commitment continues in 2021, with an expanded program of virtual Q&A conversations. A record number of filmmakers, actors and other guest speakers will partake in Q&A programs, recorded especially for AJFF audiences and accessible to watch online throughout the 12 days of the festival.

Virtual Lobby Over Lunch:
AJFF is also launching a “Virtual Lobby,” featuring a series of lunchtime Zoom sessions for the community of moviegoers to join a facilitated discussion, taking a deeper dive into five conversation-starting films of the festival.

Festival-in-a-Box:
To enhance the at-home viewing experience, ticket holders to Opening Night will receive a specially curated “Festival-In-A-Box.” Full of fun comfort items to help create a perfect, stay-at-home viewing experience, the box is full of tasty and cozy surprises.

Tickets go on sale on Jan. 26 for members and on Feb. 10 for the general public.

In 2021, the promotion, which ordinarily lasts ten days, will be temporarily rebranded to Roswell Restaurant Weeks, encompassing several weeks, and will run from January 11 – February 11 to support the local restaurants through a traditionally slower period of patronage. Roswell Restaurant Weeks is presented this year through a joint partnership between Roswell Inc and Visit Roswell, the economic development and tourism partner organizations for the City of Roswell.

In previous years, Roswell Restaurant Week has been celebrated as the largest restaurant-focused promotional event in Metro Atlanta. “Restaurants and food & beverage providers make up a segment of the hospitality industry hit the hardest during the pandemic. Facing continuous COVID-related hurdles and colder months, our restaurant partners remain reliant on support that is critical at the local level. Most have made investments that include expanded patio space, tenting, fire pits and electric or gas heaters to offer a pleasant dining experience,” says Andy Williams, Executive Director at Visit Roswell. “Roswell Restaurant Weeks allows us to highlight our partners through offerings typically not seen on standard menus, and the expanded length gives patrons more opportunity to enjoy favorites and consider new choices, as well.”

Finally, guests can enjoy live entertainment throughout the day followed by a DJ beginning at 5 p.m.
