Atlanta, Ga – Igniting for the third year, the Old Fourth Ward Business Association is thrilled to announce the return of the annual Fire in the Fourth Festival taking place on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 3 to 11 p.m. Hailing the historic Great Atlanta Fire of 1917, which burned over 50 city blocks in the Old Fourth Ward. This year’s fête will celebrate with a never-before-seen interactive installation of the 100-year history of Boulevard. Festival attendees will interact with historical images and stories from just before the Great Atlanta Fire in 1917 all the way to 2017, featuring WellStar Atlanta Medical Center, Wingate Companies and the Martin Luther King Jr Center for Nonviolent Social Change. With blazing main stage music performances, fiery theatre performances, and a diverse offering of live, local musicians, dancers, visuals artists, circus performers and more providing entertainment throughout the festival. Fire in the Fourth raises positive awareness of the history and businesses of the Old Fourth Ward. All proceeds from Fire in the 4th will benefit the Old Fourth Ward Business Association’s beautification and public safety initiatives.
Open to all ages and free to attend; patrons can enjoy Wicked Weed Brewing craft beers, Tito’s handmade vodka custom cocktails and food from local restaurants. Festival goers looking for an upgraded experience can purchase tickets to the “The Total View VIP” in the center of it all, at the Georgia Justice Project. VIPs can enjoy elevated viewing, a specialty bar featuring Tito’s Handmade Vodka, craft brews from Creature Comforts and Arches Brewing, and a catered buffet by Bone Lick BBQ. Families can also enjoy the Kid’s Hot Spot featuring Atlanta Fire Rescue Department and educational programs, art activities, dance performances and physical fitness by Operation PEACE, Moving in the Spirit, The King Center’s Camp NOW and The Kindezi School from 3 to 6 p.m. Additionally, for the third annual event, the Old Fourth Ward Business Association will host a special magnet and sticker drive upon entry of the festival to raise neighborhood awareness and help fund beautification projects.
