Cathedral Giving By Design will return to Atlanta on January 24-25, 2025, for its third annual fundraiser, following last year’s sold-out event. Building on the 50-year legacy of the former Cathedral Antiques Show, January’s weekend event will be a design and entertainment showcase offering a suite of events including a welcome party, live auction, design panel with interior designers and an architect, and tour of homes designed to inspire. Proceeds will support 2025’s Atlanta-based beneficiary Wellspring Living, which provides domestic sex trafficking victims and those at risk (ages 12+) with comprehensive, trauma-informed, victim-centered recovery services through residential programs, community-based programs, and post-program support. The event will support the construction of three welcoming and healing tiny homes on the campus of Wellspring Living to support survivors of sex trafficking and their children, while they receive therapeutic care.

On Friday, January 24, the celebration of home and hospitality will kick off with a welcome party at the Cathedral of St. Philip featuring live music, hors d’oeuvres and dinner, cocktails, and a live auction. The design-focused events will follow on Saturday with a design panel titled “Beyond the Front Door: Trends in Decorating, Lifestyle & Entertaining,” where acclaimed interior designers from around the Southeast will invite attendees into their world of design as they explore their knowledge and perspective in bringing beauty to the personal space. Featured panelists are interior designers Melanie Millner of The Design Atelier, Phoebe HowardAshley Gilbreath, and architect John Plaster. Christina Dandar, of The Potted Boxwood, returns again this year to moderate the lively discussion.

Following the panel on Saturday, attendees can see these concepts brought to life as they immerse themselves in a tour of exceptionally decorated homes, including:

  • Habersham Road – built in 1938 with updated design and renovations by Phoebe Howard and T. Blake Segars, and landscape by Carson McElheney
  • Paces Ridge – located near the banks of the Chattahoochee River and originally built in 2002 by William T. Baker with interiors by Melanie Millner of The Design Atelier and landscape including stunning gardens made for outdoor entertaining, lovingly cared for and updated by Carson McElheney

Whether patrons are design-curious or decor aficionados, they are sure to be inspired by the chic and stylish exhibition. All ticket sales and donations garnered from the festivities will go to the 2025 beneficiary, Wellspring Living, founded in 2001 and headquartered in Grant Park. Each of Wellspring Living’s programs utilizes a multi-disciplinary service model to provide transformative care through three service pillars: housing, healing, and education. The focus for each participant is on developing their courage to move forward and their confidence to succeed. Wellspring Living is a leader in the nation for residential care and through the Wellspring Living Institute is able to educate, train, and mentor organizations around the world.

Cathedral Giving by Design was formerly known as the Cathedral Antiques Show, a beloved event produced by the Episcopal Church Women of the Cathedral of St. Philip for over 50 years. Now for its third year, the new event pivots off the tradition of building community and celebrating design, and aims to increase funds raised with a refreshed approach. The 2024 Cathedral Giving By Design celebration raised over $498,000 for the Boyce L. Ansley School with three completely sold out events. The Cathedral looks forward to serving the Atlanta community with the charitable celebration of home and hospitality for a third year.

EXPERIENCE COZY COOP IN ROSWELL | SECOND LOCATION OPEN FOR DINING

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 11/4/24

Savor Authentic Southern Grub – Fast, Fresh, From Scratch + Conveniently Served
With a Drive-Thru Option

Known for its fresh, all-natural ingredients and inviting atmosphere, Cozy Coop, the Southern fast-food sensation, recently opened its second location in Roswell, Georgia, with a ribbon cutting in partnership with Roswell, Inc. The 3,000-square-foot Cozy Coop location is operating at 891 Holcomb Bridge Road after gutting and completing renovations of a former Hardees. Following the success of its first fast-casual location in Kennesaw, Cozy Coop continues to deliver a from-scratch, chef-driven menu featuring fried chicken, baby-back pork ribs, and classic Southern sides all day and evening with southern breakfast staples to kick off the day.

“We are thrilled to welcome Cozy Coop as they open their second location here in Roswell! With a vibrant $250 million restaurant industry, Cozy Coop is a fantastic addition to our community. When we first met Mike and Ricky, they were confident in their ability to deliver high-quality, quick service dining – and they have certainly delivered with their made-from-scratch recipes and top-notch ingredients,” said Steve Stroud, President and CEO of Roswell, Inc. “In a city known for its chef-driven dining, Cozy Coop stands out by offering a quick service option that rivals the excellence of a typical sit-down restaurant.”

Leading the kitchen is co-owner and chef Ricky Navas, who brings a passion for Southern cuisine with a wealth of experience from fine dining at Atlanta restaurants like Storico Fresco, Paces & Vine, and Murphy’s. His innovative approach blends traditional flavors with modern techniques, ensuring that every dish served at Cozy Coop is both familiar and extraordinary. The menu has a variety of items, including fan-favorites such as the signature fried chicken, tenders and wings, baby-back pork ribs, and comforting sides like mac and cheese, collard greens, biscuits, cornbread, and seasonal or weekly specials with many items offered in individual servings or large family-style meals. Chef Ricky also features freshly prepared sandwiches, salads and desserts, and signature homemade sauces catering to a variety of palates.

“Our mission has always been to take fast food to the next level – to show just how delicious and exceptional ‘fast food’ can be when it’s done with heart and care,” shared Michael Madonna, co-owner of Cozy Coop. “Guests at our Kennesaw location quickly recognized we were doing something special – which opened in November 2022. We quickly became a local favorite, and we’re starting to see that happening in Roswell with support from the city, new guests, businesses enjoying our catering, and already with many regulars. We’re grateful to be welcomed with such open arms!”

Cozy Coop Roswell continues the brand’s tradition of providing a communal dining experience, with counter service/table delivery dine-in, carry-out, and drive-through available. GEORGIA FESTIVAL OF TREES MOVES TO GWINNETT COUNTY, BRINGS BACK PINK PIG FOR 2024 HOLIDAY SEASON

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 11/5/24

Atlanta Nonprofit To Host Annual Festival At Gas South Convention Center With Forest Of Holiday Trees For Auction, New Pink Pig, Live Entertainment And More

Georgia Festival of Trees will kick off another holiday season with its signature multi-day festival at a new home inside Gas South Convention Center in Duluth, Georgia from Saturday, Nov. 23-Sunday, Dec. 1. The event will feature a dazzling display of Christmas trees, wreaths, centerpieces and nativities for auction, Penelope (Penny) the Pink Pig*, live music and entertainment, Christmas Brick Challenge, Gingerbread Competition, kids’ activities and games, boutique gift shops and more.

Known as the state’s largest holiday event, Georgia Festival of Trees continues to support local organizations working to end the commercial sexual exploitation of women and children in Georgia by partnering with Street Grace and Atlanta Redemption Ink

“When we started Georgia Festival of Trees four years ago, we weren’t sure how it would be received and it’s remarkable to see how it’s grown and evolved into a special holiday tradition for families,” said Angie Ulibarri, Georgia Festival of Trees executive director. “Through this growth, our team continues to closely listen to feedback from our guests, which is why we’re thrilled to share exciting new updates for this year including a new location, the After Dark Comedy Showcase presented by The Westin Atlanta Gwinnett and our very own Pink Pig, Penny. Even with all the new additions, the heartbeat of the festival remains the same – holiday magic with a heart to end human trafficking.”

Each tree, wreath, centerpiece and nativity at the festival is designed, decorated and donated by individuals and organizations around the Southeast, providing a beautiful array of holiday decor. Trees and other decor are auctioned off both in-person and online during the festival. The auction serves as the primary driver to support Street Grace and Atlanta Redemption Ink.

“It’s an honor to once again partner with the Georgia Festival of Trees,” said Bob Rodgers, Street Grace president and CEO. “Our hope is that through this holiday event, people across the community will better understand the human trafficking epidemic in our own backyard and how to join the fight against it.”

Georgia Festival of Trees will debut Penny the Pink Pig*, a new pig-themed train for children and adults, inspired by the beloved Atlanta tradition originally created in 1953 by Rich’s. This new version will transport guests on a magical ride through the Georgia Festival of Trees and will be open each day from Nov. 23 to Dec. 1, except Nov. 27-28 when the festival will be closed for Thanksgiving. Rides on the Pink Pig will cost $5 per person.

“We’re thrilled to be a beneficiary of the Georgia Festival of Trees for the second consecutive year, especially in the year  they debut the new Pink Pig!” said Jessica Lamb, founder of Atlanta Redemption Ink. “While activities, like the Pink Pig, are fun, Georgia Festival of Trees has a deeper meaning behind each of these – to support the fight against human trafficking. Our organization aims to bring hope and joy to survivors, and it’s an honor to share this heartbeat with the Georgia Festival of Trees.”

The festival offers live music and entertainment on the main stage, as well as Santa with his reindeer and life-size sleigh and Reindeer Games for the kids, which include the Elf Training Academy, the Lil’ Elves Driving Academy, LEGO® bricks, Elf Phone Booth, North Pole Post Office and more. Guests can enjoy sugar cookie decorating at Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen, Santa’s Workshop, a Gingerbread Competition, Christmas Brick Challenge and boutique shopping.

Attendees are also encouraged to take part in daily themes at the festival including Senior Day presented by WellCare – a health insurance company providing managed care services.  Guests who are 62 and older will receive free entry, and Physical and Developmental Disabilities Day presented by CareSource – a nationally recognized, nonprofit managed health care organization – with sensory friendly hours from 9 a.m.-11a.m.

Georgia Festival of Trees is sponsored by Amerimed, WellCare, Ambetter Health, CareSource, Classic Tents and Events, Frontgate Furniture Outlet and more. Tickets to the Georgia Festival of Trees start at $13.95 for seniors ages 62 and up, and adult tickets are $18.95. Children’s tickets for ages 3-12 are $18.95 and include access to all activities in the Reindeer Games area. The Pink Pig, cookie decorating, Santa’s Workshop (a shopping experience for children), photos with Santa and the After Dark Comedy Showcase on Nov. 30 are an additional cost.
