Hampton + Hudson’s Bo Ling Chop Suey Palace Pop-Up
Inspired by the classic holiday movie “A Christmas Story,” Hampton + Hudson hosts an annual Bo Ling Chop Suey Palace pop-up on Christmas Day, and this year, they’re holding the pop-up all season long. From December 11-23, guests will step into a scene from the all time classic movie and enjoy a special Chinese menu, plus Bo Ling cocktails and beer, amongst festive decor. Held from 6-11pm each night, the pop-up is first come, first serve with limited seating, and the restaurant’s regular menu will be available in the other areas of the restaurant during regular business hours. The pop-up will culminate on Christmas Day when the restaurant will serve the special Chinese menu exclusively alongside drink specials. “A Christmas Story” and football games playing on televisions. Dishes will also be available to-go on December 25.

Sweet Auburn BBQ’s Holiday Luau Pop-Up & Kick-Off Celebration with Kamayan ATL

This holiday season, Sweet Auburn BBQ, the Poncey-Highland BBQ spot offering traditional style barbecue with an Asian twist, is transforming their space into a holiday luau! To kick off the season of celebration, Sweet Auburn BBQ will host Kamayan ATL, the Atlanta-based Filipino pop-up restaurant, on Monday, December 2 for a collaborative luau-inspired menu of dishes like Fried Lumpia, Aloha BBQ Skewers, Hsu’s Kalbi Saimin, & Smoked Huli Huli Chicken. Following the pop-up event, Sweet Auburn BBQ will offer a festive food menu and tiki-inspired cocktails alongside holiday luau vibes and decor throughout the season.

This informal tasting allows guests to wander, sampling options at their leisure…all from African-American owned wineries, breweries, and distilleries.
Sommeliers will be on hand to answer any questions and make suggestions as to what specific wines will suit your preferences. A DJ will spin tunes to keep you moving.

Scholarship Programs and Educational Grants

Les Dames d’Escoffier (LDEI) Atlanta, part of an international society of female leaders in culinary professions, is hosting the 19th annual Afternoon in the Country (AITC) on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 1-4 p.m. at Foxhall Resort in Douglasville, Georgia. Tickets for both general and VIP admission are now available, and proceeds from the event directly fund scholarships for women in culinary and agriculture, as well as support other food-related philanthropic efforts.
“Afternoon in the Country isn’t just a fun way to enjoy amazing food and beverages, it’s also an opportunity to meet the incredible women making an impact in our community and to help us continue education for females pursuing careers in culinary arts, hospitality and agriculture,” said Angie Mosier, Les Dames d’Escoffier-Atlanta board president.
Dedicated to promoting the achievement of women in culinary professions through educational and charitable activities, the Atlanta Chapter of LDEI has been offering annual scholarships and continuing education grants since 2001. The organization also provides thousands of dollars of funding to local non-profit organizations related to farming, global culinary initiatives, nutrition programs and anti-hunger work. AITC’s ticket sales, raffle and auction items help fund these initiatives.
While supporting these important causes, AITC attendees get to spend an afternoon sampling food and beverages from more than 150 of the region’s top chefs, restaurants, farms, wineries, breweries and distilleries. The afternoon also includes a cake raffle featuring delectable creations from Atlanta’s most talented pastry chefs and a celebrated silent auction offering exciting getaways and food and wine merchandise.
General admission tickets to AITC are $125 per person and include unlimited tastings. For $250, the VIP ticket experience includes special perks such as early admission, valet parking, a gift tote with an array of curated goods, and access to the Georgia Grown VIP Tent and the Foxhall Resort After Party at the glorious Legacy Lookout. Inaugural Georgia Seafood Festival Announces Celebrity Chef and Judge Lineup
Held at The Battery Atlanta, the Georgia Seafood Festival will feature cuisine from Georgia’s Coastal seafood scene, live entertainment and educational exhibitions

The Fresh District announced today the celebrity chef and judge lineup for the inaugural Georgia Seafood Festival. The Georgia Seafood Festival will take over The Battery Atlanta, 800 Battery Ave SE, on November 9, 2019 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. and aims to celebrate Georgia’s booming commercial seafood industry. Festival attendees will enjoy cooking demonstrations, drink eclectic seafaring cocktails, and immerse themselves in interactive educational experiences from the Georgia Aquarium, UGA Marine Extension, and Georgia Grown. A variety of fresh, sustainability sourced seafood, with a focus on Wild Georgia Shrimp, will be available for sampling, along with some of Georgia’s most well-known vendors.

Cooking Competition – the first qualifying event for the 2020 World Cooking Championships. The winner of the competition will receive a coveted ‘Golden Ticket’, guaranteeing them a spot to compete in next year’s Championships and a chance to win the grand prize of $100,000. Chefs will compete head-to-head in a timed cooking challenge featuring Georgia seafood and local ingredients. Each chef will prepare a judge’s plate scored on execution, appearance and taste and be given one secret ingredient that must be featured in their dish.
“The Fresh District is excited to announce the participation of some of Atlanta’s most talented chefs and celebrity judges for the inaugural Georgia Seafood Festival,” said Delano Massey, festival founder and CEO of the Fresh District. “This festival will give attendees a unique culinary experience that will transport them to Georgia’s coast as they sample some of the freshest seafood our state has to offer.”

Butcher & Brew Fest 3 will be held in Alpharetta on Saturday, November 9 from 2-6pm. Celebrating the best of craft beer, the third annual event will feature food from Butcher & Brew, live music by Fire & The Knife, games and more. Butcher & Brew Fest 3 will bring together 30 craft breweries from Atlanta and around the world; highlights include Creature Comforts Brewing Co., SweetWater Brewing Company, Terrapin Beer Co., Allagash Brewing Co., New Belgium Brewing and Wicked Weed Brewing.

HAVEN Restaurant and Bar, the upscale neighborhood eatery in Brookhaven celebrating its 16th anniversary this year, will host their beloved annual Fall Patio Party on Wednesday, October 30. Each year, the restaurant marks the beginning of patio season with a spring party and end of patio season with fall party. The gathering on their spacious outdoor patio features seasonal food, drinks and live music.
This year’s affair will be Halloween themed and run from 7-10pm, and HAVEN’s Executive Chef Joe Macy will grill seasonal bites on the patio’s Big Green Egg. The menu will feature BBQ favorites like Sliced Brisket, Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Grilled Scallops and Shrimp, Hot Dogs and Smoked Chicken Wings alongside sides including brussels sprout apple slaw; field pea and farro salad; roasted sweet & fingerling potatoes, beets and squash; green salad; mac and cheese and a selection of beer and wine. Guests can enjoy live tunes from local cover band Grose, Hill & Callahan and are invited to dress in their best Halloween costumes for a chance to win first, second or third place prizes.
Reservations are not required, and attendance to the event is $35, which is inclusive of food and select beer and wine. Cocktails will also be available for purchase.
