HERMANITA HEATS UP WILD HEAVEN AVONDALE THIS SUMMER

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 5/29/25

Peruvian Street Fare, Cold Beer and Big Patio Energy Collide for a Summer Residency

Beginning Thursday, June 12 through Sunday, July 13, 2025

This summer, the grill is hot, the beer is cold, and Hermanita is moving in. The fiery little sister of Tio Lucho’s, dreamed up by James Beard-nominated Chef Arnaldo Castillo, is taking over Wild Heaven Beer’s Avondale patio for a monthlong summer residency beginning Thursday, June 12 through Sunday, July 13, 2025.

A love letter to Peruvian street food with a Southern twist, Hermanita brings serious flavor to the pavement: think flame-licked Pollo a la Brasa, sizzling Anticuchos skewers, and rotating sides inspired by Castillo’s childhood and his signature flair for bright, crave-worthy seasoning. It’s the kind of food that begs for a beer, which makes Wild Heaven the perfect match.

“Beer has always been the ultimate companion to great food, and at Wild Heaven, we’re continuing to build thoughtful culinary partnerships across all our concepts,” says Nick Purdy, co-founder of Wild Heaven Beer. “We’re huge fans of Tio Lucho’s and Chef Arnaldo, so welcoming Hermanita to our Avondale patio this summer felt like a perfect fit. We know our guests will love it.”

Set against the laid-back backdrop of Wild Heaven’s original Avondale location—known for its expansive patio, inventive brews, and come-as-you-are energy, Hermanita’s summer residency invites locals and visitors alike to grab a pint and some delicious Peruvian street food and dig in.

Expect juicy charcoal-roasted chicken by the quarter, half, or whole, spiced to perfection and paired with Castillo’s lineup of tangy housemade salsas. Anticuchos will rotate between beef heart, sirloin, and chicken thigh, all grilled to order. Sides might include chalaca-topped iceberg, aji amarillo mac and cheese, smashed cucumber salad with chili crisp, and more. A few surprises? Always.

“Hermanita has been a really special project for me—a way to cook the kind of food I grew up with in a way that feels personal and fun. The response at Tio Lucho’s has been incredible, and moving the concept to Wild Heaven for the summer felt like the right next step,” says Tio Lucho’s Co-Owner and Executive Chef Arnaldo Castillo. “It gives us more room to play, more people to reach, and the chance to bring these flavors to a whole new community. I’m excited to fire up the grill and keep telling this story through the food.”

Hermanita is open daily for lunch and dinner Friday through Sunday beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Wild Heaven Beer Avondale at 135B Maple St, Avondale Estates, GA 30002. On Saturday, July 19, from 1 pm to 4 pm, this lively feast inspired by the time-honored Maryland tradition of gathering around a table covered in newspaper and savoring the succulent, sweet meat of freshly steamed crabs will have everything you’d expect, except for maybe the “Natty Boh.” Guests can enjoy fresh steamed Maryland blue crabs flown in from Harbour House Crabs; they will be treated to a classic Low Country Boil featuring an all-you-can-eat feast of sausage, corn and potatoes, and other fun salty and sweet summer treats—and non-crab lovers, don’t sweat it, the boil does not contain crab.

With community tables for comradery, the garage doors will be open for indoor and outdoor revelry for one giant party. A cash bar will be ready to serve the perfect summer drinks, including the iconic Old Bay rimmed EDB-Micheladas, the regular lineup of Wild Heaven beers, signature cocktails, wine, and select NA options.

Early Bird General Admission will go on sale Tuesday, April 01 (that’s no foolin’), starting at $80, plus applicable fees. Early Bird VIP, which includes early entry at 12p and NA beverages, starts at $95. ATLANTA INSTITUTIONS 680 THE FAN AND WILD HEAVEN BEER TEAM UP FOR “FANFARE” COLLABORATIVE BEER PROJECT

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 10/20/20

Mixed Six-Packs of Craft Beer & Hard Seltzer Launch This Week

In a year when sports fans can’t gather in their usual ways, Atlanta’s leading sports talk radio station, 680 The Fan  and Wild Heaven Beer one of Georgia’s oldest and most respected craft breweries, have teamed up with those fans in mind. Releasing at Wild Heaven’s two taproom locations and in stores next week, Fanfare is a pair of mixed-six packs of beer and hard seltzer created to help fans celebrate wherever they can safely gather.

Each Fanfare six-pack contains two each of a Classic American IPA, a Golden Ale, and a Mango Hard Seltzer. Retailing for just $10.99, each of the three can designs call to mind the region’s great sports teams.

680 The Fan invites listeners and fans to use the QR code on each can to vote for their favorite of the three. A special release party with a live broadcast from Wild Heaven’s West End Brewery & Gardens will take place on Saturday, October 24, from 11am-2pm featuring 680 The Fan’s Former UGA quarterback Hutson Mason and Georgia Tech and College Football Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Hamilton. Fanfare will be available at both Wild Heaven taproom locations beginning Friday, October 23.

Mixed six-packs will be available at retailers around the Atlanta metro area starting Wednesday, October 28th. A second Fanfare mixed six-pack will release in November featuring a Modern IPA, an Amber Ale, and a Black Cherry Hard Seltzer.

After fan voting concludes, one of the six Fanfare recipes will be chosen for broader distribution in 2021, so 680 The Fan’s on-air hosts and Wild Heaven Beer are calling on Atlanta fans to make their voices heard!
