CEO Michael Dorf Opens His Fifth City Winery Location in Atlanta’s Ponce City Market, Redefining the Concert Venue Experience with a 350- Seat Concert Hall, Restaurant, Speakeasy, Private Event Space, and Working Winery

Atlanta, GA – CEO and founder Michael Dorf announces that his fifth City Winery location is slated to open in Atlanta’s newest retail, residential, and business mecca, Ponce City Market, in June 2016. City Winery Atlanta will be situated in a prime location of Ponce City Market in a 26,000- square-foot space built under and around Dancing Goats Coffee Bar, featuring a sophisticated restaurant upstairs and a 350-seat concert hall, speakeasy, and fully functional winery downstairs.

“We have been planning our move to Atlanta since last September and are thrilled to finally become part of Atlanta’s newest culinary destination and gathering place,” said Dorf. “We know that Atlantans are busy people so we aim to provide them with a one stop shop where they can enjoy world class, chef driven cuisine, and house-made wines by the glass or bottle, all the while listening to some of the most exciting musical talent in the country.”

City Winery Atlanta will provide the community with a luxury concert-going experience in a relaxed, but sophisticated setting. The initial musical lineup brings a strong mix of high caliber, eclectic, and up and coming talent to the space. Diners and concert goers alike will be able to experience the offerings of wine country in the middle of a busy urban environment with City Winery’s one of a kind wine tap system and facility.

City Winery Atlanta’s full service restaurant will offer signature City Winery dishes along with locally inspired creations from Executive Chef Jeffrey McGar. BACONFEST 2016

Saturday, March 26th at 1pm

Location: Dad's Garage

baconfest

Around the corner, the church bell rings. Its noon in Atlanta on a dreary, fog-laden, barely spring day with all the hope that bacon will bring sunshine and happiness. Yes, bacon. That means BaconFest 2016 was upon us with all its bacon-y glory. That unmistakable sizzle, that smoky goodness, hilarious games, and pair it with beer, and that’s BaconFest.  This year, fresh off purchasing new digs, Dad’s Garage moved the festival from Masquerade Music Park to their new location in Old Fourth Ward. What’s ironic is this irreverent bunch of improvers now reside in a church. But you know, that’s how they like it… ironic. New place, same fun.

The best, and our favorite activity at BaconFest is always the Hobo Wine Tasting. We remember the first year that we attended and I was fascinated by the sheer nastiness of the wine. To think that this year’s best in show was Arbor Mist Blackberry is a travesty. In what world is Arbor Mist ever good? Whatever you do, DO NOT try the Thunderbird. It’s rubbing alcohol light. Stay away! Everything in between is pretty gross as well, Night Train, Cisco (Strawberry & Peach), Mad Dog 20/20, and Wild Irish Rose. Fun fact: Dayroom, a local Athens band from the late 90’s had a song called, Irish Rose. They talk about drinking cheap wine and waking up stinking like Wild Irish Rose. We assume they mean this drink. WHY, Dayroom, why? Drinking it is one thing, but smelling like it? Gross.

Another game we enjoyed this year was the Battle Shots. Based on the game, Battleship, opponents guessed the location of the shots on the board. If you hit their boat, they would drink the corresponding shot. If they hit your boat, you drink your corresponding shot. Yes, we can see where this would turn you sideways but it was just Miller Lite in there. It was looking like we would win but unfortunately a guy with a cat face-painted on his forehead beat us. This game wasn’t really about winning or losing, but about getting to drink all your beer in a fun, interesting way. It was fun!

We got Rick Rolled at BaconFest! In the church’s basement, adjacent from the photo booth was a Rock Band set up. While we were sitting there, we hear “Never gonna give you up…” Yep, we just got Rick Rolled. We all laughed about it. Some of the other games included human Foosball, which the ball kept coming out of the game and knocking over people’s beers or hitting them in the head. You could get a kiss from the Clairemont Lounge’s world-famous, Blondie. Yeah, no thanks. Plus, there were the caricatures, roasting, and face-painting.

All-in-all between the bacon, bacon chips, beer, games, and improv skits, BaconFest didn’t disappoint. The weather was a little misty, with light rain mixed in early, but gave way to a pretty nice day overall. It didn’t keep the bacon lovers away. The lines got long, so thank Caren West PR for Whole Hog VIP! Since there was no actual VIP, they made separate lines at all the stations for Whole Hogers to get up front. It was pretty nice! Go Whole Hog next year!

Stokeswood with Today the Moon Tomorrow the Sun at Terminal West

Date: Friday, April 8th
Time: Doors 8pm, Show 9pm

About: On Friday, April 8th, Terminal West brings you the Dynamic Atlanta Duo: Stokeswood with Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun. Together again! Can you believe it? Atlanta’s two best bands in one night! Doors are at 8pm, the show at 9pm. Tickets are $10. Here’s an excerpt about each band from their below facebook event: Atlanta-based STOKESWOOD  are known to switch instruments between songs — one hint as to their eclecticism and energy — and they eschew limits on influences. New EP 2075, the band’s most accessible release to date, taps new wave, power-pop and indie rock, and even references Atlanta hip-hop beats. Sounds are expertly layered to maximize textures and sonic impact. These are song that earn their place on the dance floor. Stokeswood was named Best Local Rock Act by Creative Loafing Atlanta in 2013 & 2014 and Best Local Pop Act in 2015, the publication’s voters also voted ‘2075’ Best Local Album 2015 and Best Music Video for “Our Streets.”

TODAY THE MOON, TOMORROW THE SUN is all about the collaborative. It’s about the connections between sound and people. A band of four: two girls, two boys. Noisy, dancy, loud, sincere, sweaty, loveable, hardworking.
Folks say Today The Moon, Tomorrow The Sun occupy a strange land, a territory full of noisy chaos that dances around many perfectly manicured landscapes; other folks have made up odd sub-genres for them (“Indie New-Wave”, “Dreamy Disco Punk”, “Bullet-proof Dance Jams”, and “Indie-Electro-Fuzz-Rock” to name a few.)
For Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun, 2014 brought a new movement of music, visuals, and expression. With an EP release scheduled for April 2014, accompanied by videos for each song, the band continues their anthem– They’re about changing the things you wanna change and doing the things you wanna do. It’s about refusing to settle and working hard for what you want. It’s about really seeing your past, present, and future.
