Shucked features a “superb book” (New York Post) by Tony Award winner Robert Horn, a score filled with “earworm songs” (The Daily Beast) by Grammy Award winners, Tony Award nominees and Nashville music superstars Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, and direction with “an infectious spirit of glee and warmth” (Variety) by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien.

This high-flying musical has been thrilling audiences of all ages for close to 70 years and is now being brought back to life in a newly-imagined production directed by Emmy Award winner Lonny Price (Sunset Boulevard, Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill) with additional book by celebrated playwright Larissa FastHorse (The Thanksgiving Play, What Would Crazy Horse Do?), choreography by Lorin Latarro (Waitress, The Who’s Tommy), flying sequences choreographed by Paul Rubin (Wicked, Frozen) with music supervision and additional arrangements by Andy Einhorn (Hello, Dolly!, Carousel).

Cody Garcia thrills on as ‘Captain Hook.’ They most recently starred as ‘Willy Wonka’ in the national tour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and as ‘Buddy’ in Elf; Emerson College graduate Hawa Kamara delights audiences as ‘Wendy;’ Bailey Frankenberg,Choctaw and a Tribal Member of the Cherokee Nation is so proud to be a part of and witness the effects of this fresh version of Neverland as ‘Tiger Lily.’

Today, the Art Farm at Serenbe team announces the 2025 events filled with exciting productions from the most talented performers in the country. Artists, musicians, singers and dancers will grace the stages throughout Serenbe for over 75 shows throughout the calendar year at this global destination. The Art Farm at Serenbe plays a unique role in expanding connections between the arts, nature, and the art of living with a mission to celebrate both environmental resources and sustainability.

More than a Moment: Serenity for Shango

World Premiere at Serenbe of the documentary “More than a Moment: Serenity for Shango.” This thought-provoking film highlights Serenbe community’s creative response to the country’s reckoning with racism.  It highlights the incredible artists who responded to an invitation for public art in Serenbe that would stand as a beacon of welcome and belonging to African American visitors and residents.  It offers reflections on struggle, hope, and healing. Directed by Kenson Robley, the screening also evokes discussion about what’s next.  We hope you will join us to be part of “More than a Moment.”

The Wash 

March 14 – March 23, 2025 

The Impact Theatre Atlanta and Synchronicity Theatre presents the Premiere of Kelundra’s Smith’s “THE WASH.” This vibrant and funny play tells the true story of the Atlanta Washerwomen’s strike of 1881, where Black women demanded fair wages and ignited a wave of labor activism across Georgia.  Making international news, the strike had a reverberating effect around the state, with nurses, cooks, and other domestic workers from Rome to Savannah, GA demanding a fair wage as a result of the women’s bravery.

Jazz Series 

Immerse yourself in the soulful, rich sounds of world-renowned jazz artists, including the award-winning Sounds of April and Randall (S.O.A.R), musical composer Kenny Banks, and powerhouse vocalist Rhonda Thomas. These three installments of Jazz will start in April and will end in  September 2025. Known for their dynamic performances and deep-rooted passion for jazz, these celebrated musicians will take the stage to deliver an evening filled with electrifying energy, heartfelt melodies, and the timeless essence of Jazz. These musicians will light up the stage in a captivating three-part Jazz Series, presented by Art Farm.

Terminus Modern Ballet

Spring comes alive in the scenic beauty of Serenbe, inspired by Vivaldi’s timeless The Four Seasons. Spring Poet Performance

Sarah Kay a New Yorker, poet, educator, and co-director of Project VOICE. She’s the author of five poetry collections, including BNo Matter the WreckageThe TypeAll Our Wild Wonder, and her latest, A Little Daylight Left. A celebrated performer in over 30 countries, she’s also a TED speaker, New Arizona Fellow for New America, and a writer-in-residence at Hedgebrook. Her work extends beyond the page—she’s an occasional editor for Write Bloody Publishing, a co-columnist for PoetryRx at The Paris Review, and a co-curator of the Ours Poetica web series. She was the first-ever feature on PBS NewsHour’s Brief But Spectacular series and has been an artist-in-residence at Serenbe, Grace Cathedral, and Kundiman. Join us on May 30th in Serenbe for an unforgettable poetry performance as part of her residency, followed by a book signing at Hills & Hamlet to celebrate her newest collection, A Little Daylight Left. Kenny Banks 

June 6 

Well known Composer, arranger, and performer Kenny Banks takes the spotlight in the second installment of Art Farm’s Jazz Series, delivering an unforgettable night of jazz. A native of Columbus, Ohio, he began studying and playing music at the age of seven. His musical journey started in the church, eventually leading him to pursue formal training at Central State University. After graduating, Kenny taught vocal music in Columbus Public Schools before following his passion, touring as a clinician, keyboardist, musical director, and producer across the United States and beyond. Kenny has made notable television appearances on BET and the Image Awards and has performed at prestigious events, including the inauguration and United Nations Ceremony for President Barack Obama. 

Dad’s Garage Kids Camp

Coming to Serenbe on June 9th–June 13th, Dad’s Garage, is an award-winning non profit theatre company founded in 1995, that performs for a collective audience of over 30,000 people annually. Based in Atlanta’s historic Old Fourth Ward on Ezzard Street, bringing performances to our home theatre, public events across the continent, and festivals worldwide. With a year-round schedule, Dad’s Garage produces over 400 shows annually, including original productions, special events, and performances beyond our regular lineup. Dad’s Garage engages a younger demographic not typically served by traditional arts organizations. Through strategic programming collaborations, Dad’s garage introduces its audience to institutions like The Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Opera, and Atlanta Ballet, expanding their appreciation for the arts.

Rhonda Thomas (Jazz Night Series)

Powerhouse vocalist Rhonda Thomas lights up the stage as the final performer of the Art Farm Jazz Series.Vocalist Rhonda Thomas captivates audiences with her signature style, sultry voice, and powerful songwriting. Music lovers who have followed her journey through albums like Guess Who I Saw Today, Breathe New Life, Listen, Little Drummer Girl, and her live DVD Rhonda Thomas: Live at Centennial Park were thrilled when she collaborated with super-producers Khari Cabral, Daz-i-Kue, and Julius Speed to create her 2015 release, Vinyl Daze. The album soared to #12 on the Billboard Jazz Charts, and today, Rhonda continues to craft new music, further expanding her artistry.

Opera Event

November 14 – 15 

Art Farm is thrilled to present a traditional concert as part of our Opera Event Weekend, featuring the incredible Mary-Hollis Hundley. In addition, guests will have the unique opportunity to enjoy an intimate dinner with the acclaimed soprano. Mary-Hollis recently completed her first season on the roster of the Metropolitan Opera, serving as a cover for Sister Catherine and Sister Lillian in Heggie’s Dead Man Walking. She launches her 2024-25 season with Orlando Opera, making her company debut as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth. She then returns to the Helena Symphony to perform as Gertrude in Hansel und Gretel and takes on the role of Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors with Dayton Opera. Additionally, she will join the Amadeus Chamber Ensemble as the soprano soloist in a Beethoven Vocal Rarities Concert.

Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces Introduces Newest Free, Family-Friendly Festival 

Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25, 2025

Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces is thrilled to introduce the inaugural Winder Spring Arts & Crafts Festival, a new addition to its roster of vibrant arts festivals including award-winning Piedmont Arts Festival, Chastain Park Arts Festival and the Old Fourth Ward Arts Festival. Taking place Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, May 25, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Jug Tavern Park, this free, two-day outdoor festival will bring together a dynamic mix of painters, sculptors, photographers, crafters, and performers in a lively, family-friendly atmosphere. Attendees are invited to sip, shop and stroll as they engage with artists, watch live demonstrations, and explore delicious food and drink offerings for all tastes. The Winder Spring Arts & Crafts Festival (139 E. Join Girls on the Run Georgia’s Young Professionals Board for the second annual Pickleball Open Tournament presented by Shamrock Building Systems on Saturday, March 22, at ITA Atlanta! All proceeds from the tournament benefit the Girls on the Run Georgia Scholarship Fund. The Pickleball Open is a double, round-robin tournament in which all teams are guaranteed to play three games. It is open to players of all levels: advanced, intermediate, and social. Registration closes on March 15.

The event is family-friendly, with food and drinks for purchase and spectating opportunities from the Skydeck at ITA Atlanta. By purchasing a spectator ticket, you can watch the tournament while supporting Girls on the Run Georgia. Children 10 & under are free.
