DIE SPITZ ON TOUR PLAYING PURGATORY AT THE MASQUERADE IN ATLANTA ON SEPTEMBER 20 WITH VIAGRA BOYS

ANNOUNCE 2025 TOUR DATES

As postmodern society crumbles, Texas four-piece Die Spitz combine their passion, friendship, identity, and artistry to fight against the inescapable decay that surrounds life on their debut album, Something to Consume, due Sept 12 via Third Man Records. “There’s a political side to it, but addiction and love can also be all-consuming,” Ellie Livingston says. And as the band trade off instruments, swapping songwriting and vocal duties, and generating powerful songwriting in concussive bursts, Die Spitz have created their own little pocket of the world where we can all stand on the edge together.

The Austinites express their ideas through a blend of classic punk, hardcore, metal, alt rock and more. The group has become known for their riotous live shows, where dueling cartwheels, climbing of rafters and solos while crowdsurfing could happen at any moment. “Something to Consume is an album experience for everyone. Whether you’re craving a smack of lively metal or a melancholy wave of grungey violin, there’s a piece of all of us injected. Something to Consume is a call to the multitudes of ways we as humans allow consumption to enrapture our culture as well as ourselves.”

That shapeshifting strength comes into full view on the explosive lead single “Throw Yourself to the Sword”, released today alongside a video by Emily Sanchez. “‘Throw Yourself to the Sword’ is a high-energy ode to what we want young people to feel. There’s a lot of existentialism and despair in other songs on the album that still sheath the same theme, but ‘Throw Yourself to the Sword’ is the raise of optimism. Despite living in a state of mundanity or hopelessness, you can still rise up and fight the unknown, as long as you’re willing to throw yourself to it,” Ellie Livingston explains.

Something to Consume moves with rapturous conviction thanks in part to the deft production hand of Studio 4’s Will Yip (Turnstile, Mannequin Pussy). Though only recently in their 20s, Die Spitz’s impressive musicianship ties them clearly to a long lineage of frustrated people hoping to inspire change. “Some people aren’t interested in being political activists via music, but it weighs on me heavily and I feel misaligned with my calling if I don’t,” Chloe De St. Aubin says. “The four of us are free spirits with multiple interests, and there’s no limit or power dynamic that can derail us.”

Additionally, Die Spitz is announcing a headline tour behind Something to Consume. All dates below.

Die Spitz is Ava Schrobilgen, Chloe De St. Aubin, Ellie Livingston, and Kate Halter.

NETHERWORLD HAUNTED HOUSE BRINGING MONSTERS & MAYHEM TO DRAGON CON 2025

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 8/26/25

DATES YOU NEED TO KNOW…
Thursday, Aug. 28 – Monday, Sept. 1 | Dragon Con Weekend
Saturday, Aug. 30, 10 a.m. | Dragon Con Parade on Peachtree Street; broadcast live on CBS Atlanta (WUPA, Channel 69) at 10 a.m. EST
Friday, Sept. 19 | NETHERWORLD Haunted House Opening Night

This Labor Day Weekend, the streets of downtown Atlanta will tremble as NETHERWORLD Haunted House brings its legion of monsters to Dragon Con. From grotesque new fiends and fan-favorite creatures to an elaborate parade float brimming with terror, NETHERWORLD will once again fuse fright and fantasy as it kicks off its 29th Season of Screams in spine-chilling style.

As the sponsor of Dragon Con’s Horror Track programming, NETHERWORLD will be present all weekend with a booth located on the Marquis level of the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. There, fans can snap photos with NETHERWORLD’s famous monsters, learn about this year’s attractions, snag discounts for Escape the NETHERWORLD, and even sign up to join the “Netherspawn” crew for the upcoming season.

In the iconic Dragon Con Parade, spectators will get the very first glimpse of new nightmare-fueled characters from NETHERWORLD’s 2025 themes — the epic monster showdown MONSTERS ATTACK! and the twisted double feature OBLIVION: RETURN OF THE MANGLER and GRENDEL’S FEAST. Alongside the acclaimed attraction’s float, legendary Netherworld denizens will unleash a sneak peek of the fearsome battles, grotesque creations, and sinister clowns that await haunt-goers this fall.

“Dragon Con is our official start to haunt season and the ultimate stage to introduce our new characters and themes,” said NETHERWORLD Haunted House Co-Creator Ben Armstrong. “For 2025, we’re unleashing massive new monsters, mind-bending sets, and some of the most ambitious haunts in our history. Dragon Con gives us the chance to share that excitement with fans before we open our doors, and we can’t wait to see their reactions!”

A few short weeks after Dragon Con, the scares officially open for its 29th Season of Screams on Friday, Sept. 19. Guests will journey through the monstrous chaos of MONSTERS ATTACK! before plunging into the horrific depths of OBLIVION: RETURN OF THE MANGLER and the grotesque carnival of GRENDEL’S FEAST. Between haunts, visitors can explore the NETHERWORLD Midway, packed with roaming creatures, food, games, photo ops, and festive fun. Tickets — including General Admission and Speed Passes for faster entry — are on sale now at Fearworld.com, and fans are encouraged to purchase early to secure their spot.

AN ASHEVILLE WEEKEND GETAWAY 2025

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 8/24/25

The SUITE-est hotel in Asheville, NC is the Embassy Suites Downtown Asheville. John and I took a weekend getaway up to beautiful Asheville, NC and fell in love with the downtown area all because we stayed in this brand-new hotel that is just SUITE! It is steps from downtown attractions like Grove Arcade, restaurants, bars, nightlife, and a ton of Asheville’s big breweries!

Beyond the perfect location, the hotel is a stunner! You step inside the sweeping and large lobby and welcomed by lounge vibes with comfy couches, beautiful pendant lighting, marble waterfall features, tons of seating around the electric fireplace, and a large bar and restaurant.

Upstairs in the room, you’ll find clean, comfortable, spacious king suites like our room! You walk into a den and living space where you can relax and watch TV on the large comfy couch. Around the corner is the large king bedroom with one of the comfiest mattresses! There is a gorgeous bathroom with tons of white tile and clean, modern lines, walking shower and large vanity area.

Amenities. One of the biggest perks at staying at an Embassy Suites is their hot free breakfast with omelette making station to customize your own omelette, all the usual breakfast suspects and even banana bread! Another is the 5pm happy hour with 2 free drinks and a bunch of salty snacks, dip, veggies, and fruit! Of course they have a pool, fitness area, and business area.

Soprana Rooftop Cocina

And wait until you see the gorgeous rooftop bar, which is the spot for pizza and views in downtown Asheville, Soprana Rooftop Cocina. It is a gorgeous Italian cucina with sweeping mountain views! Once I saw the space, I was super excited to try it, and it was one of the best meals experiences all weekend! They have staple Italian fare, an extensive brick-oven pizza list, a fun creative cocktail menu, wines, all set to the mountains in the background! To my surprise my favorite dish is the burrata. I do like burrata, but this one was sensational! Think cool and mild cheese encased in a mild cheese shell then served with fresh, local, sweet, ripe peaches and the best earthy yet herbaceous pesto! The entire bite was a flavor train.

The other appetizers I got were the Meatballs and the oven roasted chicken wings. The meatballs are rich, meaty, herbaceous and fall apart tender local beef and pork. Plus, they jam some ricotta in it for a creaminess! Topped and surrounded by a tasty, tangy herbed tomato sauce, fresh herbs and mozzarella, and finally finished with sharp pecorino. The other appetizer is the large, tender, and juicy chicken wings. Rubbed with the local delicious Spicewalla Italian dry rub then doused in garlic butter and a hint of charred lemon. I paired it with their Luxe Limone, their limoncello cocktail. It is an herbaceous gin, house made limoncello, creamy egg white, sweet vanilla, and you can’t miss the sweet meringue on top!

For dinner, the Asheville pizza hit the spot. It is the classic spicy pepperoni and a hot honey combination! It so good! Crunchy yet light and fluffy pizza topped with lots of local spicy pepperoni, fresh mozzarella, local smoky, spicy Asheville bee charmer smokin’ hot honey, and a tangy herbaceous marinara. I got the Honey I’m Blushing cocktail with it. A creamy almond cream with a warm reposado tequila, tangy blood orange, and a hint of lemon. For dessert came the Flourless torte. A rich and deep chocolate dessert in a flaky shell then topped with candied and toasted hazelnut and creamy Nutella.

Grove Arcade

John and I took a day to explore everything Grove Arcade; it is truly THE destination in Asheville. As Asheville’s original mall, with gorgeous 1920s architecture and a hint of New Orleans funk, there is so much to find here. They have shops, dining, and more all in one place and in a building built in the 1920s and opened in 1929! It has a rich history!

Some of the Grove Arcade highlights include, grabbing a coffee or bevy and a beignet at Babette’s to fuel your day. They have so many shops, so peruse the many shops including my favorite, Razberry Threads. After that, grab lunch at Carmel’s as they have an assortment of southern fare. I loved their deviled eggs with candied bacon and a glass of wine.

In the afternoon, sip on suds from Wedege Brewing downtown. I got the dry Irish stout and John got a Pilsner. We visited the original back over 10 years ago and are glad to visit them again! After some more shopping, my favorite spot I found is the Battery Park Book Exchange. It is a champagne and bookstore where I tried their La Grande Tour champagne flight. And this is real champagne from France! One of the ones I tried, Monopole, was a brand served on the Titanic! Finish off the day with dinner at Asheville Proper. The best bite is their tender and rich Wagyu zebuton! I paired it with a boozy Manhattan and their earthy local mushrooms. A great dinner spot.

Announce First US Tour Dates Since 2022

Today Tune-Yards, the dynamic duo of Merrill Garbus and Nate Brenner, share details of their sixth studio album, Better Dreaming, out May 16th on standard vinyl, limited edition vinyl and CD. The album showcases some of their most effortlessly groove-filled music in their career.

PRE-ORDER THE ALBUM HERE

To kick off this new era, Tune-Yards unveiled the infectious single, “Limelight.” The song was born from dancing together as a family to George Clinton, and Garbus and Brenner’s 3-year-old can be heard singing on the track. Garbus reflects on the new track: “This one almost didn’t make it onto the album because it felt trite, especially given multiple genocides across the globe and the particular impact on children (the kids are not ‘alright’). But it kept coming back as people kept responding positively to it, in particular our own kid. Who am I to talk about getting free, about us all getting free? Fannie Lou Hamer said, “Nobody’s free until everybody’s free” and it feels vulnerable but important to see myself as part of that ‘everybody’.”

Additionally, Tune-Yards will return to the road this May for their first U.S. headlining tour since 2022, with a special run of East Coast dates. Performing as a duo, Garbus and Brenner will bring Better Dreaming to life in intimate venues, offering fans a rare chance to experience the album’s vitality and messages up close. Known for their electrifying live performances – where layered rhythms, looping beats, and Garbus’ powerhouse vocals collide – these shows promise a versatile return to the stage. The tour includes beloved indie spaces like The Stone Church in Vermont and Space 538 in Maine, before wrapping up with a celebratory night at New York’s 101 Club, highlighting the album’s danceable energy and deeper themes in a setting designed for connection. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, March 7th at 10AM local time. For more information head HERE.

Based in Oakland, California, Tune-Yards shot to fame with their 2011 4AD label debut

W H O K I L L, which topped numerous critics year end lists. The album was preceded by their self-released cassette BiRd-BrAiNs and followed by three phenomenal records for the label – Nikki Nack, I can feel you creep into my private life and 2021’s sketchy. Garbus and Brenner are also known for their film score and composition work including the Boots Riley film Sorry To Bother You and TV series I’m A Virgo. They continue that collaboration with Riley on the upcoming NEON feature, I Love Boosters starring Keke Palmer, LaKeith Standfield and Demi Moore.

Better Dreaming is out on May 16th on all digital platforms, CD, standard black vinyl and clear blue wave vinyl (indie retail only). For more information, and to pre-order, head HERE.

More on Better Dreaming:

Distraction, depression, and heartbreak reign supreme in 2025. “Making art in this day and age for me is a battle for focus; we’re in an age of interruption,” says Garbus of Tune-Yards’ sixth album Better Dreaming. Proudly waving an anti-fascist, liberation, freak flag, Better Dreaming contains some of Tune-Yards smoothest, funkiest, and most direct pop music to date, and yes, you can dance to it. And when you do dance to it, be prepared to sweat out something that’s been long stuck inside, and pretty deep down.

The songs of Better Dreaming came to Garbus and Brenner with unusual ease. They asked themselves what would happen if they simply let the songs come out, following any trail they wished – first thought, best thought style. There was a strong desire to move, to make music that would enter the ear and immediately loosen up the joints, get the whole body wiggling. After covid-isolation, and time away from touring and live shows, the desire to be moved by music was undeniable. The insane experience of growing an actual human being influenced this as well.

The rhythms throughout the record carry a certain freshness, with deep pockets full of subtle idiosyncrasies that stem from Tune-Yards’ return to making an album primarily as a duo. All but one of these songs are built around Garbus’ drum looping and rhythm building, as they were on some of the early albums like BiRd-BrAiNs and  W H O K I L L – no full kit drummer here, and the songs love it.

Better Dreaming is ferocious in its invocation of self-love, of collective action, of dance floor liberation, ego-death deliverance, and a future we could all thrive in. When diving into the present darkness of the world, Tune-Yards asks themselves how much literal energy and joy can be conjured and pumped through the music. In its life-affirming art- pop of the apocalypse, Better Dreaming comes true.

PUP & JEFF ROSENSTOCK IN ATLANTA AT THE EASTERN – SEPTEMBER 22

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 8/24/25

PUP

ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM

WHO WILL LOOK AFTER THE DOGS

OUT MAY 2ND VIA LITTLE DIPPER / RISE RECORDS

NEW SINGLE & VIDEO FOR HALLWAYS” OUT NOW

“The Toronto band Pup has long made frenetic punk-pop with neat verse-chorus-bridge structures underlying Stefan Babcock’s raucously overwrought and fully self-aware lead vocals.” – New York Times

“PUP’s fourth album, ‘The Unraveling of PUPTheBand,’ finds the quartet completely removing any of the limits left on their music, pushing things as far as possible” – The New Yorker

“Hearts on their sleeves, the group captures the rage and frustration of human fallibility with crashing drums and infectious irreverence” – NPR Music

“The new songs are boisterous, catchy, and meta while also earnestly wading through the nuances of depression in a manner often reserved for “confessional” indie rock…an instant mood-booster.” – Pitchfork

“transmuting life’s frustrations into unhinged visceral joy” – Stereogum (Album of the Week)

“‘The Unraveling of PUPTHEBAND’…reinforces the message that it’s okay to be yourself, no matter who you are.” – Vulture

“PUP’s winning recipe is 49% snark, 51% heart” – Bandcamp (Album of the Day)

Toronto punk heroes PUP— comprised of Stefan Babcock, Nestor Chumak, Zack Mykula, and Steve Sladkowski— will release their highly anticipated forthcoming album Who Will Look After The Dogs? On May 2nd via Little Dipper / Rise Records. Who Will Look After The Dogs?, PUP’s pummeling and cathartic fifth LP, is their most immediate, no-frills, and hard-hitting full-length yet. It was made in Los Angeles with producer John Congleton over the course of three weeks, and it’s the culmination of PUP’s past decade of constant touring and their palpable, livewire chemistry. The album evokes the lightning-in-a-bottle intensity of their self-titled debut (except they are much better at their instruments now), and finds our self-deprecating frontman Stefan Babcock at his most reflective, vulnerable and prolific. Over 12 tracks, Babcock excavates his life’s relationships—romantic, with his bandmates, and most ruthlessly, his relationship to himself. There’s plenty of growth, but also plenty of unpredictable mayhem in the arrangements and an acerbic bite in the writing. And while PUP historically are at one another’s throats during the album process, this time they scrapped their tedious perfectionism and rediscovered the joy of making loud music together. They had fun this time, we swear!

PRE-ORDER WHO WILL LOOK AFTER THE DOGS? NOW

Also out today is the album’s lead single “Hallways.” The first song Babcock wrote for the album, “Hallways” is bracing and raw, but its lightness keeps it together: “Cause when one door closes, it might never open / There might be no other doors.” Listen to the song and watch the incredibly surreal music video, directed by Sterling Larose, now HERE.

EMBED

“Within days of announcing our last album, coincidentally titled The Unraveling of PUPTHEBAND, my life unexpectedly imploded. I wrote the lyrics for ‘Hallways’ while all that was going on. It was a weird fucking week,” says Babcock. “The title of our new record, Who Will Look After The Dogs?, is what I wrote at the top of the page, the very first thing written for this album. I think it’s devastating, but in a ‘holy shit this is overdramatic’ kinda way. At least in context of the line that comes before it. That’s what makes it funny to us. That overblown stuff we all say in our dark moments can be hilarious once you’ve cooled off a bit. I don’t know if anyone else thinks it’s funny, but sometimes you gotta laugh at yourself. It’s the only way out of the abyss. Trust me.”

TIO LUCHO’S HOSTS WINE VS BEER DINNER

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 8/22/25

An Interactive Showdown of Sips, Flavors, and Friendly Competition

Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 7 p.m.

Tio Lucho’s is hosting a spirited showdown that puts wine and beer head-to-head, course by course. On Wednesday, August 27, James Beard-nominated Chef Arnaldo Castillo will partner with A Cork in the Road to host a one-night-only tasting experience featuring five Peruvian-inspired courses, each paired with a two-ounce pour of wine and a two-ounce pour of beer. Guests will vote for their favorite pairing throughout the evening to help crown the ultimate match.

Bringing together creative pairings and chef-driven cuisine, the evening is built for curious palates and anyone who’s ever wondered whether a crispy potato or a passionfruit-spiked tiradito goes better with a glass of wine or a pour of beer. With wine pairings led by Kelly Cornett of A Cork in the Road and Blasian Bon Vivant Toni Williams representing beer, the evening promises plenty of friendly banter and palate surprises.

Chef Castillo’s menu brings Peruvian traditions to the table in new ways, starting with papas y salsas and moving through dishes like hamachi tiradito with passionfruit leche de tigre, the fan-favorite Tio’s Salad, flounder with caviar lentils and aji amarillo beurre blanc, and a sweet finale of house-made picarones—Peruvian-style donuts with warm spiced syrup.

Tickets are $100 and include five dishes, ten pairings, and a guided tasting with a bit of friendly competition thrown in. Seating is limited. Tickets are available now at www.tioluchos.com. Tio Lucho’s is located at 675 N. Highland Ave. NE, Atlanta, GA 30306. For more details, call (404) 343-0278 and follow @tioluchos on Instagram and Facebook.

PUTTSHACK ATLANTA & DUNWOODY GIVE BACK TO LOCAL COMMUNITY THIS BACK-TO-SCHOOL SEASON

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 8/21/25

Puttshack and Back 2 School America are teaming up to make a meaningful impact in the lives of underserved students.

For every $30 donated, one fully stocked Back 2 School Kit will be assembled and donated to a child in need. These kits are more than just supplies—they are a powerful step toward academic success and self-confidence for students who may otherwise start the school year without the essentials.

To make this partnership even more special, every kit distributed through this initiative will feature a custom Puttshack-branded sticker. This is a small but powerful reminder to each recipient that their community cares about them.

And we’re not stopping there!

In August, Back 2 School America staff will visit Puttshack’s Chicago Headquarters for a special Lunch-n-Learn session. During this hands-on volunteer opportunity, Puttshack team members will write Notes of Inspiration —uplifting, handwritten messages that will be placed inside each donated kit. These heartfelt cards are often a favorite part of the kits for the kids who receive them, offering

encouragement, kindness, and a personal touch.

Together, we’re making a real difference— one donation, one kit, and one note at a time.

Back 2 School America (B2SA) launched in 2007 to

address the inequities in educational opportunities

for children first in Illinois, and now across the

country. Its mission is to provide school supplies and

other tools throughout the year to ensure the

educational success of children in need.

In an effort to level the playing field and reduce the

financial burden on families and teachers, the B2SA

Our hands-on activities foster collaboration, communication, and a sense of accomplishment as teams work toward a common goal. It’s not just about assembling supplies; it’s about building connections, strengthening teamwork, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of teachers and their students.

www.b2sa.org 844.FUN.B2Sa program has supplied more than 400,000 children with their own school supply kits, distributing over 12 million supplies to those who need them most.

RED PHONE BOOTH TO CELEBRATE DRAGON CON 2025 WITH DOCTOR WHO-INSPIRED EVENTS

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 8/21/25

Red Phone Booth, Atlanta’s premier prohibition experience, is excited to welcome Dragon Con to the city for the ninth consecutive year this Labor Day weekend, August 27 through September 1.  Dragon Con is the largest multi-media, pop culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the universe.

Red Phone Booth will offer a special series of events and promotions designed to enhance the convention experience for members and attendees alike. Centrally located in Downtown Atlanta, just 100 feet from Peachtree Street at 17 Andrew Young International Blvd, Red Phone Booth is the ultimate destination for fans seeking a unique and immersive celebration during Dragon Con. Convention attendees can get the code for entry through their hotel concierge.

A Whovian Transformation

In honor of this year’s festivities, Red Phone Booth will undergo a remarkable transformation, painting the iconic entrance, an antique London red phone booth, to BLUE to resemble the famous police box from Doctor Who. This homage to one of the most beloved sci-fi series will set the tone for a weekend filled with adventure, camaraderie and celebration. Additionally, Red Phone Booth has added an intergalactic window mural that sets the tone before you even step inside.

Exclusive Events and Offers

The Dragon Con themed Cigar Lounge will create themed craft cocktails to transport you across time and space. Each evening, guests can enjoy a complimentary Pasta and Salad Bar from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. while supplies last, courtesy of Amalfi Cucina & Mercato, offering a taste of Italy to fuel the night’s festivities. At 10:01 p.m., Red Phone Booth will host a complimentary toast in honor of the 10th Doctor from Doctor Who. Patrons are invited to raise their glasses and celebrate the spirit of adventure and the many Dragon Cons to come.

Throughout the weekend, members of the Dragon Con Cigar Club can take advantage of an exclusive BOGO Cigar Offer on select cigars, allowing them to buy one cigar and get another of equal or lesser value free.  Guests will also enjoy raffle prizes and giveaways all weekend. You never know what might materialize, from merch to VIP experiences.

In the spirit of Dragon Con, Red Phone Booth will adopt a “Geek Chic” Dress Code for the weekend, encouraging cosplay while maintaining a standard of elegance. While creativity is encouraged, guests are reminded that attire must be fully covering, and body paint will not be permitted.

Members are encouraged to secure their spot at these exclusive events by making advanced reservations through the member app. For those seeking a more demure, more mindful Red Phone Booth experience, the Buckhead location will maintain its regular dress code and atmosphere throughout the holiday weekend.

For more information about the Dragon Con events at Red Phone Booth, or to learn more about membership opportunities, visit www.RedPhoneBooth.com. For entry, please ask your hotel concierge for the code.
