30 SEASONS OF SCREAMS! NETHERWORLD HAUNTED HOUSE CELEBRATES THREE DECADESAS A LEADING FORCE IN IMMERSIVE HORROR ENTERTAINMENT

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 7/3/26

For 30 years, NETHERWORLD Haunted House has helped define immersive horror entertainment in the United States, transforming Halloween in Atlanta into a nationally recognized, cinematic experience built on original storytelling, large-scale sets, and elaborate special effects. Since opening in 1997, the attraction has evolved from a seasonal haunted house into a year-round entertainment destination and one of the most influential names in the modern haunted attraction industry.

CREATING A NEW STANDARD FOR IMMERSIVE HORROR
Founded by film and television veterans Ben Armstrong and Billy Messina, NETHERWORLD was built around a simple idea: bring theatrical production techniques into walk-through horror environments populated by original characters and fully realized worlds. That approach helped establish the attraction as a leader in the field and set a new benchmark for scale, detail, and storytelling in haunted attractions.

FROM KENNESAW TO STONE MOUNTAIN: A 30-YEAR EVOLUTION
Since its early days in Kennesaw and its long-running presence in Norcross – where its towering outdoor sets became a familiar sight for thousands of drivers along I-85 – NETHERWORLD has steadily expanded in both scale and creative ambition. In 2017, the attraction relocated to its permanent home in Stone Mountain, marking a new chapter of long-term growth and development.

Today, NETHERWORLD operates from 1313 NETHERWORLD Way, an entertainment campus that supports seasonal haunted houses, five escape room adventures under Escape the NETHERWORLD, a Halloween-themed Midway experience, and the House of Creeps monster museum. What once began as a seasonal Halloween attraction has developed into a year-round destination.

“When we started NETHERWORLD, there was no blueprint for what we were trying to build,” said Billy Messina, co-creator of NETHERWORLD Haunted House. “Over time, it became clear we weren’t just creating a haunted house; we were helping shape an entire segment of the entertainment industry. That evolution has been driven by constant experimentation, collaboration within the industry, and a deep respect for the craft of theme-based storytelling and production design.”

1313 NETHERWORLD WAY: A NAMED LEGACY
The naming of NETHERWORLD’s street represents a rare civic distinction and a milestone in the attraction’s history. More than an address, it reflects the relationship between NETHERWORLD and Gwinnett County, and the role the attraction has played in shaping Atlanta’s experiential entertainment landscape. It stands as a lasting marker of the campus’s permanence and its evolution into a year-round destination for immersive horror entertainment.

INDUSTRY IMPACT AND LEADERSHIP
NETHERWORLD’s influence extends well beyond its attractions. Co-creator Ben Armstrong has consistently served in leadership roles within multiple industry associations and boards, and is widely recognized as a speaker, designer, educator, and writer within the haunt community. He has led seminars on haunted house design, production, and operations at major Halloween and themed entertainment conventions across the country and has been a featured writer for numerous haunt industry publications.

“What keeps NETHERWORLD relevant for this long is a constant commitment to pushing the craft forward,” said Ben Armstrong, co-creator of NETHERWORLD Haunted House. “We’ve been fortunate to contribute to an industry we care deeply about, whether through design, education, or sharing ideas with other creators. Seeing how the haunted attraction world has evolved over the years has been incredibly rewarding, and we’re proud that NETHERWORLD has been part of shaping that evolution while continuing to innovate here at home.”

Co-creator Billy Messina has also played an active role in advancing the industry. A founding member of the original Haunted Attraction Association, he served on the organization’s board of directors for several years and has worked alongside Armstrong to support industry collaboration, education, and growth.

Together, Armstrong and Messina have consulted on creative development, design execution, and large-scale attraction production, helping influence haunted attractions and immersive entertainment experiences across the country.

NATIONAL RECOGNITION
Over the years, NETHERWORLD has become a nationally recognized Halloween destination, earning coverage from major media outlets including CNN, “The Today Show,” “The Early Show,” The Travel Channel, BuzzFeed, Parade, O, The Oprah Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today. The attraction has also received consistent acclaim from leading industry publications such as Hauntworld Magazine, Fangoria, and Dread Central, regularly ranking among the most acclaimed haunted attractions in the country.

Its reputation has drawn over a million visitors from around the world, including horror fans, industry professionals, and celebrity guests such as Jennifer Lawrence, Margot Robbie, Janet Jackson, Usher, Woody Harrelson, Slash of Guns N’ Roses, Ludacris, Iggy Azalea, and many cast members from “The Walking Dead,” underscoring the attraction’s status as a cultural and Halloween institution.

LOOKING AHEAD TO THE 30TH SEASON
As preparations continue, this year’s experience will serve as a celebration of NETHERWORLD’s expansive history, bringing forward a curated mix of returning characters, iconic storylines, and immersive worlds that have defined the attraction’s legacy. While full details of the haunted attraction themes will be announced in the coming months, guests can expect a season built around nostalgia, evolution, and new creative surprises drawn from across its archive of original work.

NETHERWORLD will open for the season on Sept. 18–19, return Sept. 25–26, and continue Oct. 2–4, 6–12, before opening nightly beginning Oct. 14 through Nov. 1. The season will conclude with a final opportunity to scream on the weekend of Nov. 6–7.

Additional details regarding 2026 themes, ticket information, and special programming will be announced in the coming months.

THE ART OF PAIRING RETURNS TO NAHM FINE THAI CUISINE

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 7/2/26

Chef Nahm Celebrates 20 Years of Hospitality, Artistry, and Connection with the Return of a Beloved Tasting Experience

American Soils Thursday, July 9 at 6pm

Twenty years ago, Chef Nahm arrived in America with a dream to share the beauty, artistry, and culture of Thailand through food. Today, that dream has a name, a home, and twenty years of memories to show for it.

As NAHM Fine Thai Cuisine (5310 Windward Pkwy W, Alpharetta, GA 30004) marks its twentieth anniversary, Chef Nahm has been awarded the Thai SELECT Two-Star designation by the Thai Ambassador one of the highest honors bestowed by Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce to restaurants worldwide upholding the authenticity and integrity of Thai cuisine.

The recognition doesn’t stop there. NAHM has also earned a Wine Spectator Award, the OpenTable Diners’ Choice Award, Atlanta’s Best 2024, and Best of North Atlanta 2024 a testament to twenty years of unwavering dedication to excellence.

To mark the occasion, Chef Nahm is relaunching The Art of Pairing an immersive tasting series where exceptional wines, thoughtful pairings, and meaningful stories meet around the table.

The season opens with American Soils on Thursday, July 9, at 6 pm. In honor of America’s 250th birthday, the evening travels coast to coast through the country’s most celebrated wine regions, with each pour guided by the team at Prime Wine & Spirits, Tim Stovall, Vas Sanchez, and Kevin O’Sullivan and complemented by tasting plates crafted by Chef Nahm.

The evening also celebrates two collaborators whose American dreams mirror her own. Andrew Centofante of North American Sake Brewery turned a personal vision into reality handcrafting sake on American soil to share the beauty of Japanese brewing culture. His selection, Serenity, will be featured as a special pour. Joining him is Atlanta-based Yuri Miyoshi, Japanese calligraphy artist and Brand Ambassador for North American Sake Brewery, who brought her art to America and made it her own. Her presence adds a rare and beautiful layer to the evening.

American Soils is ultimately a celebration of dreams realized in the kitchen, in the glass, and on the page.

“For us, hospitality has always been about creating moments of connection,” says Chef Nahm. “The Art of Pairing allows us to bring people together through storytelling, flavor, and discovery to slow down, learn something new, and experience how thoughtfully chosen wines and food can transform an evening.”

Tickets are $95 per person. For reservations, visit www.nahmfinethaicuisine.com.

MYLES SMITH PLAYS ATLANTA’S COCA-COLA ROXY

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 6/29/26

SITS DOWN WITH CBS MORNINGS

HEADLINE TOUR ACROSS NORTH AMERICA, EUROPE AND THE U.K. KICKS OFF NEXT MONTH

After surpassing one billion streams, scoring two #1 singles and building a global fanbase before ever releasing a full-length album, Myles Smith finally delivers his debut LP, My Mess, My Heart, My Life., out today via Sony Music UK/RCA Records. Get it HERE.

Smith also made his U.S. morning television debut yesterday, sitting down with Anthony Mason for an in-depth conversation on CBS Mornings—watch HERE.

His first complete body of work arrives after a run of milestones that would be remarkable for an artist at any stage of their career. His beloved hit song “Stargazing” became the biggest song by a U.K. artist worldwide in 2024, skyrocketing his career and introducing his music to audiences around the world. “Nice To Meet You” made Smith the first male solo artist to reach #1 at both Alternative and Top 40 radio with his first two singles. My Mess, My Heart, My Life. is the album that completes the story.

Known for emotionally direct songwriting and a rich vocal delivery, Smith has built his following by turning personal experiences into songs that connect far beyond their origins. For his debut album, he took that approach even further, returning to his own therapy notes from 2017 to 2022 and mining five years of his life as the raw material for the songs. The result is a record that explores emotional chaos, vulnerability and the sense of release that comes with confronting life head-on, unfolding across three interconnected worlds: Mess, Heart, and Life.

The album’s latest single, “Hold Me In The Dark,” landed in May—listen here. The track has now spent more than two weeks at #8 in the UK APC, and Smith has five songs currently in the Airplay Top 100.

The record also features several of Smith’s most recognized recent hits, including “Stargazing,” “Nice To Meet You,” the reflective duet with Niall Horan “Drive Safe,” the uplifting anthem “Gold,” and the euphoric “Stay (If You Wanna Dance).”

“This album is the most honest thing I’ve ever made,” says Smith. “The title really says it all—it’s about the mess, the heart and the life that sits around it. Smith songs come from moments I never thought I’d share. Nights that felt endless, mornings that felt like starting over, memories that will always stay with me.”

Smith will support the album with his biggest headline tour to date across North America, Europe and the UK. With multiple UK arena dates already nearly sold out, the run will culminate in a landmark London show at The O2. He will also support Ed Sheeran on the North American leg of his forthcoming LOOP Tour this summer. To purchase tickets and for more information, visit https://www.mylessmith.co.uk/.
