DAFFO ON TOUR PLAYING THE MASQUERADE – ALTAR

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 1/24/26

Daffo will be making a stop in Atlanta, GA to play a show at The Masquerade – Altar on 1/28

Their debut album, Where The Earth Bends, is out now via Concord Records and is a one-of-a-kind coming-of-age album that finds powerful catharsis in painful confession. Produced and mixed by Rob Schnapf (a veteran producer known for his work with Elliott Smith, Beck, Cat Power, and more), Where the Earth Bends encompasses an intimate yet frenetic sound that perfectly mirrors the album’s emotional intensity.

An essential new voice on the indie-rock scene Daffo brings an unexpected beauty to the most uncomfortable of feelings. With a poetic specificity that cuts right to the heart, they speak an unfiltered truth about all that sets them apart from the wider world, confronting everything from shame and self-loathing to misplaced affection and the chaos of living with an overactive brain. Where the Earth Bends was produced and mixed by Rob Schnapf (Elliott Smith, Beck, Cat Power), and engineer Matt Schuessler (Kurt Vile, Steve Gunn). Esteemed musicians were enlisted like drummer Josh Adams (Devendra Banhart, Jon Batiste) which allowed the album to embrace a boldly naturalistic approach to every element of the production process.

“Gabi Gamberg’s scratchy voice over sputtering drums and lo-fi distorted guitars seesaws between remembering the wonderment of ‘the kid in you’ and an adult realization that ‘there’s nothing I can do’ – the holiday season’s tensions laid bare.”

-The New York Times

“The gritty, slacker rock sound brings strength to their tender phrasings and acrobatic harmonies”

-Paste

“Catchy and distortion-heavy”

-Stereogum

“Uniquely confessional lyricism”

-The Needle Drop

TIO LUCHO’S BRINGS TWO COASTS TOGETHER FOR DOS COSTAS CARNIVAL ON FAT TUESDAY

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 1/23/26

Blending Gulf Coast Spirit and Northern Peruvian Flavor for a High-Energy Evening Driven by Food, Music, and Cocktails

Free to Attend on February 17, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

On Tuesday, February 17, Tio Lucho’s turns up the energy with Dos Costas Carnival, a lively evening inspired by the shared rhythm, flavor, and joy of coastal traditions from New Orleans and Northern Peru. From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., the restaurant comes alive with oysters, festive cocktails, live music, and a menu by Chef and Owner Arnaldo Castillo that treats coastal cooking as the main event.

Rooted in the idea that Carnival thrives wherever working ports meet the sea, Dos Costas Carnival brings together two cultures that know how to cook, gather, and throw a proper party. Cajun soul and Peruvian technique collide through seafood-driven dishes, slow-roasted meats, and expressive flavors designed for sharing. Led by Castillo alongside Chef de Cuisine Manny Sosa, whose two decades of cooking under a Louisiana chef bring deep Cajun credibility to the table, the menu leans fully into Carnival. Expect crawfish empanadas, a jambalaya-inspired arroz con mariscos layered with andouille, gumbo built on Peruvian sofrito, BBQ shrimp, maque choux, and red beans and rice, capped by a show-stopping porchetta—whole hog belly roasted until crisp and carved tableside in true parade fashion. Dessert keeps the indulgence going with king cake picarones served alongside banana foster ice cream. Time-honored Carnival cocktails carry the night, from daiquiris and sazeracs to sidecars and French 75s, flowing from start to finish.

Live music sets the pace as the night builds, starting with Afro-Peruvian rhythms like festejo and cumbia before evolving into brass-heavy New Orleans funk and second-line sounds. Guests can expect a lively, fluid atmosphere accented by Carnival-inspired décor, colorful masks, and beads passed throughout the room. Free to attend, guests are encouraged to drop in, grab a drink, sample the menu, and stay as long as the music and mood allow.

Tio Lucho’s is located in Poncey-Highlands at 675 N. Highland Ave. NE #6000, Atlanta, GA 30306. For more information, visit www.tioluchos.com. Stay connected on Facebook at www.facebook.com/tioluchosatl and Instagram at @tioluchos.

THE WOMBATS PLAYING BUCKHEAD THEATRE ON FEB 2

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 1/18/26

In early December, The Wombats released their deluxe for Oh! The Ocean coming featuring the original tracklist along with a new collection of songs recorded, offering fans a deeper dive into the sonic world the band built with the album.

Listen to Oh! The Ocean Extended Version here.

Since The Wombats emerged as leading lights of the late-‘00s indie rock scene with 2007 debut A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation, Murph, bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen and drummer Dan Haggis have maintained an incredible upward momentum. 2011’s electro-flecked second album This Modern Glitch made them Top Ten regulars; 2015’s third Glitterbug saw them embraced by the TikTok generation, with “Greek Tragedy” a viral hit several times over. By 2018’s Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life they’d stepped up to arenas and 2022’s Fix Yourself, Not the World consolidated their unstoppable rise with the band’s first Number One album, seeing them reach over 2.5 billion streams. Headline shows at Crystal Palace and The O2 followed amid the band’s biggest touring cycle so far, taking in arenas across the globe and culminating at Reading 2024, where the band headlined a rammed Radio 1 tent overspilling with crowds of 18-24-year-olds that remain their core audience twenty years into their career.
