TIO LUCHO’S HOSTS A ONE-NIGHT NOCHE BUENA HOLIDAY CELEBRATION

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 12/4/25

An Evening of Peruvian Tradition, Seasonal Cooking, and a Late-Night Holiday Party on December 20

Tio Lucho’s is marking Saturday, December 20, with a one-night holiday celebration centered around good food, music, and the welcoming, come-as-you-are spirit that defines the restaurant. The evening begins at 4 p.m. with the full dinner menu and a few seasonal cocktails, giving guests the option to make it their holiday dinner, meet friends early, or ease into a night that carries into the late hours.

At 10 p.m., the room shifts. The lights dip, the DJ steps in, and Tio’s becomes a late-night holiday gathering with a limited menu, Christmas movies on the screens, and surprise touches from Hornitos Tequila and Maker’s Mark that keep things loose and lively. Guests are free to drop in for one part of the night or stay for the whole thing.

The celebration draws from Noche Buena, the Peruvian and Latin tradition at the center of Chef Arnaldo Castillo’s childhood. “Noche Buena is how I grew up celebrating the holidays. Families come together late, nobody rushes dinner, and midnight is when things really get going. That’s the feeling I want people to experience here,” says Castillo.

Dinner reservations are encouraged; late-night entry is first-come, first-served. Details and booking are available at tioluchos.com. Tio Lucho’s is located at 675 N. Highland Ave. NE, Atlanta, GA 30306. Follow @tioluchos on Instagram and Facebook.

YEPPA BELTLINE UNVEILS YEPPA 69 LODGE, A RETRO APRÈS-SKI WINTER ON THE BELTLINE

An Italian-by-Way-of-Atlanta Alpine Escape Complete With Fire Pits, Snowfall, Seasonal Cocktails, and Vintage Ski Culture Energy

With the holiday season in full swing, Yeppa BeltLine has embraced winter with the debut of Yeppa 69 Lodge, an après-ski–inspired takeover that turns its BeltLine patio into a snow-dusted, mountain-chalet playground. Open now through the Winter Games in Milan, the lodge brings glimmering tree lights, wood-burning fire pits, and a cold-weather cocktail program rooted in the spirit of seventies and eighties après culture—infused with the easy warmth of Emilia-Romagna and Atlanta’s unmistakable energy. And on Friday nights, the lodge shifts into a full “snow storm,” complete with swirling snowfall, a DJ beneath the lights, and champagne that inevitably becomes part of the evening.

In typical Yeppa fashion, Fridays heighten everything. As evening settles in, snowfall drifts across the patio, the music climbs, fire pits blaze, and the lodge takes on a celebratory, après-after-hours rhythm. Winter cocktails anchor the moment, shot-skis make unexpected appearances, and the snow gives the night a sense of escape—half snow day, half Italian house party. “The snow storm is coming. Shelter in place at Yeppa 69 Lodge, located on the BeltLine,” the team teases. It’s Alps-meets-Atlanta in a way that feels both transportive and perfectly of the moment.

The seasonal lodge builds on the identity Yeppa BeltLine has been shaping since opening in May. Though new, the restaurant already feels woven into this stretch of the city, carrying forward the spirited world introduced at its Buckhead sibling. Inspired by the conviviality of Romagna, Yeppa BeltLine celebrates clinking glasses, open-armed hospitality, and food designed to be shared among friends. Indoors, curved lines and breezy details nod to the Italian seaside; outdoors, the patio remains the heart of the space—vibrant, communal, and always shifting with the BeltLine’s energy.

The kitchen continues to anchor the experience with house-made pastas, focaccia pizzas, seafood, spiedini, and Italian comfort dishes that lean into warmth without losing elegance. The approach remains hands-in-the-dough, personality-driven, and rooted in the joy of eating in Romagna. In summer, that shows up in breezy plates and bright drinks; in winter, in heartier dishes and the pleasure of gathering near the fire. No matter the season, the table grows, the stories stretch, and of course the mood stays unmistakably Yeppa.

Yeppa BeltLine is located at 667 Auburn Ave, Suite 120, on the Eastside Trail where Inman Park and Old Fourth Ward meet. Guests are welcomed Tuesday through Sunday, with dinner service during the week, late nights on Fridays and Saturdays, and weekend brunch that rolls easily into evening. For seasonal updates, winter announcements, and a closer look at Yeppa 69 Lodge, visit www.yeppaco.com/beltline and follow @YeppaCoATL on Instagram.

Holiday Letter Drop to Santa Arrives at Yeppa BeltLine Thanksgiving Weekend

Beginning Friday, November 28, Yeppa BeltLine will place a bright red mailbox at its entrance for anyone passing by to send letters directly to Santa at the North Pole. Open daily through Christmas Eve, the drop-off invites kids—and adults who still enjoy the ritual—to pause along the BeltLine and slip their holiday wish lists inside.Anyone looking to extend the holiday feel can move into Yeppa 69 Lodge, the BeltLine’s seasonal alpine-inspired activation open through the Winter Games in Milan, complete with firelight, winter cocktails, and a retro après-ski atmosphere. MADELINE’S CHRISTMAS RETURNS TO HORIZON THEATRE, DEC 6-31

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 10/27/25

Beloved holiday tradition will have its 15th year at the Inman Park/Little Five Points theatre

A holiday favorite is back to brighten the season! Madeline’s Christmas returns to Horizon Theatre for its 15th joyous year, spreading cheer from Dec. 6–31, 2025. A collaboration between Horizon Theatre and Atlanta Children’s Theatre, this heartwarming musical adaptation of Ludwig Bemelmans’ beloved classic continues to delight audiences of all ages with its timeless charm, catchy tunes and holiday spirit. This year’s production will once again feature 24 talented local girls (ages 8–13) performing alongside professional actors on a whimsical, Parisian-inspired set—bringing Madeline and her classmates to life in a way that’s both magical and memorable.

“It’s such a treat to once again bring Madeline’s Christmas to our stage – a show that has brought joy to countless families through the years,” said Horizon’s Co-Artistic/Producing Director Lisa Adler. “Our intimate theatre lets audiences feel like they’re part of the story. And after every show, families can meet the cast, take photos and make memories that last long after the curtain falls. We’re grateful to everyone who’s made this production such a treasured holiday tradition.”

More than 360 local girls have fulfilled their dreams of performing with a professional theatre company over the past 15 years. This year’s cast includes students from 5 metro Atlanta counties and more than 20 schools, highlighting the diverse talent across the region.

Based on one of the most popular children’s books of all time, this musical play follows Madeline and friends on a holiday adventure unlike any other. After a trip to the zoo on a December day, “achoo” echoes in the halls of “the old house in Paris.” All but Madeline have caught the flu! Will the girls be able to go home for Christmas?  It’s Madeline to the rescue! With the help of a mysterious stranger, the “twelve little girls in two straight lines” end up with a magical and memorable holiday beyond their wildest dreams!  A holiday treat for the whole family.

Madeline’s Christmas will run Dec. 6 – 31. Performances are weekends at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. with additional 10:30 a.m. performances on Dec. 13-14 and 20-21. Weekday performances will take place Dec. 18 – 23 and 26 – 31 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. with additional School Day performances at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 10 – 11. Tickets are $15 for youth (ages 21 and under) and $20 for adults, plus sales tax.  The play is 70-minutes long and appropriate for ages 3 and up.  Concessions and Madeline Merchandise are available at the show. HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS AT THE BATTERY ATLANTA THIS YEAR!

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 10/23/25

Holidays Shine Bright at The Battery Atlanta with Tree Lighting, Santa’s Post Office and New Holiday Markets

Annual traditions return with magical moments for the whole family, capped by the New Year’s Eve Bash at Cobb County’s premier entertainment destination

The Battery Atlanta will once again dazzle visitors as it transforms into a festive wonderland for its fan-favorite Holidays at The Battery Atlanta presented by Wellstar. The season’s celebrations begin with the Tree Lighting ceremony presented by Wellstar, continue with the Santa’s Post Office presented by Truist tradition and culminate in the New Year’s Eve Bash presented by Xfinity, ringing in 2026 in unforgettable style.

“The holidays at The Battery Atlanta have truly become a centerpiece of the season for so many Atlanta families,” said Lauren Abernethy, Vice President of Marketing. “It’s where our community comes together year after year to celebrate, connect and create traditions that make this time of year so meaningful.”

The festivities kick off Saturday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m. with the annual Tree Lighting at the Georgia Power Pavilion Stage. Guests will be treated to live entertainment, appearances by BLOOPER and emcee Mark Owens and a countdown to Santa’s grand arrival. Following the ceremony, families can snuggle up on the Plaza Green for a screening of “Rise of the Guardians” as part of the Xfinity Movie Series.

Santa Claus is once again setting up shop at his Post Office in The Battery Atlanta! From Saturday, Nov. 22 to Wednesday, Dec. 24, Santa will continue the time-honored tradition of greeting local children and families in the Truist Community Corner, located at the corner of Power Alley and Battery Avenue. Families are invited to bring their handwritten letters to Santa – postage not required – at his official Atlanta outpost. Santa’s helpers will take care of the rest! This free opportunity allows parents and guardians to take their own photos of their children interacting with Santa as he listens to their wish lists.

The Truist Community Corner will also house a Holiday Market on Sunday, Dec. 7, featuring a shoppable collection of Atlanta-area small businesses. Additional activities include photo ops, giveaways, a free gift wrap station and other family-friendly activities. Later, Kids’ Holiday Market takes over from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21. Presented in partnership with the Children’s Entrepreneur Market, this one-of-a-kind experience highlights young entrepreneurs selling handmade gifts, treats and holiday treasures.

The season reaches its grand finale with Atlanta’s favorite year-end celebration, the New Year’s Eve Bash, on Wednesday, Dec. 31. The Early Innings celebration begins at 6 p.m. with family-friendly entertainment and features an early innings countdown at 8 p.m., with inflatable baseballs handed out throughout the night. The Late Innings festivities start at 9 p.m. with live music from A-Town A-List on the Georgia Power Pavilion Stage, leading into a thrilling midnight countdown featuring pyrotechnics, fireworks and confetti to welcome 2026.

Free parking is available in the Red, Green and Purple Decks for two hours on non-event days at The Coca-Cola Roxy.
