ILLUMINARIUM ATLANTA ADDS AN INTERACTIVE JAMES WEBB TELESCOPE EXPERIENCE TO SPACE: A JOURNEY TO THE MOON & BEYOND

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 5/5/23

For the first time ever, guests will be immersed in the incredible James Webb Space Telescope imagery, at a scale never seen before

In honor of National Space Day on May 5, Illuminarium is launching an entirely new addition to its wildly popular SPACE spectacle, featuring an interactive James Webb Space Telescope experience. The new addition to the Illuminarium SPACE experience showcases cosmic views from the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), the largest and most groundbreaking telescope ever built. Illuminarium’s high-tech animation systems and 360-degree fully immersive screens provide viewers with a never-before-seen perspective and scale of the James Webb imagery.

Beyond being immersed in the extraordinary images that the JWST sent back to earth, Illuminarium guests will also see first-hand the dramatic unfurling and deployment of the JWST in deep space — how a telescope the size of a football field that was crammed into a rocket less than 30 feet in diameter came to life.  Some have described the unfolding of the JWST to that of an origami creation or like a remote-controlled opening of a gigantic Swiss army knife.  Illuminarium guests will see an extraordinary 3-D recreation of this amazing technological feat.

“We are thrilled to bring this enhanced version of our SPACE experience to our guests,” said Alan Greenberg, CEO of Illuminarium. “The James Webb Space Telescope is a remarkable tour de force, allowing us to see the universe in ways we’ve never seen before.  And, when you see it at the awesome scale Illuminarium provides, it simply takes your breath away.”

The Illuminarium SPACE experience is driven by an unprecedented blend of technology, including 4K laser projection, 3-D audio, LIDAR based interactivity, in-floor sensation-creating haptics, and even scent, bringing unique authenticity to the immersive experience. Guests should also know that strobe effects, gentle floor vibration, immersive sound, and realistic & responsive projection may all be part of the show they experience.

A Special “After Dark” James Webb Experience (21+)

On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, Illuminarium Atlanta will be bringing a special interactive James Webb Space Telescope addition to it’s 21+ SPACE After Dark experience.

SPACE After Dark guests will have the opportunity to interact with Cosmic Cliffs, Tarantula Nebulas, The Southern Ring, Pillars of Creation, and more. Using a wave of the hand, viewers can literally affect what they see on the Illuminarium walls.  Simply walk by the star filled Pillars of Creation, and new colors and sights will be revealed – creating an immersive experience like no other.

DISTILLERY OF MODERN ART PRESENTS THE GOLEM: STORMS OF THE SOUTH

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 12/13/22

A One-Night Only Immersive Theater Experience Featuring Cocktails, Bites, and More

Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Distillery of Modern Art, an amalgamation of distillery, gallery, event space and cocktail lounge, presents The Golem: Storms of the South, an immersive theater experience on Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. For one evening only, guests can take a journey into a 19th-century New York marketplace where Jewish immigrants are busy selling their wares on the last day of Hanukkah. Incredible real-life stories will be revealed of how they escaped the Storms of the South, ten years of persecution in Western Russia, and discovered freedom upon reaching American, but brought with them something they could never have imagined – tormented and tortured ghosts of the villagers’ past. The audience will then join Rabbi Bezalel as he summons up a Golem, a Frankenstein-like creature, to rid the village of its demons, but nothing goes as planned.

“The Golem: Storms of the South is essentially a story of love and forgiveness. In order to move forward from dark times in their life, the villagers must forgive themselves, and their past,” says creator Louis Kyper of The Immersive Theatre Ensemble. “They must then let the light of love guide their way forward. No amount of artificially conjured technologies will help them understand that. It’s a simple story, but one worth telling.”

In addition to the intimate show, guests are also invited to sip on Distillery of Modern Arts’ signature cocktails and enjoy appetizers from The General Muir, a modern American restaurant inspired by the classic New York Jewish Deli. General Admission tickets are $75 per person and include one drink ticket, post-show appetizers, and a custom Golem rocks glass. The VIP Experience is $250 for two tickets and includes private pre-show entertainment, pre-show appetizers, a post-show celebration, enhanced performer interaction, two drink tickets, a collectible bottle of Distillery of Modern Art’s Atlanta Vodka, and two Golem rocks glasses. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit  https://distilleryofmodernart.com.
