Visit Athens GA Highlights Unique Dining Venues

Ahead of Annual Athens Restaurant Week

The second annual Athens Restaurant Week will take place from July 11-17, 2022, offering residents and visitors a taste of the budding dining destination

Visit Athens GA, The Athens Convention & Visitors Bureau, is celebrating the upcoming Athens Restaurant Week by sharing unique dining venues and authentic culinary experiences that residents and visitors can enjoy in the destination. The week-long celebration taking place July 11-17, 2022 will offer curated menus and specials from the best local restaurants and taprooms.

“Athens Restaurant Week celebrates the resiliency of our vibrant restaurant community and encourages residents and visitors to support these businesses by dining local,” said Katie Williams, Director of the Athens Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Participating restaurants will offer various pre-fixed options for lunch and dinner at special prices all week long. Lunch specials will have at least two courses priced at $10 or $15 and dinner specials will feature at least three courses priced at $25 or $35. Local breweries are also getting in on the action by offering beer flights for $10. Additionally, dessert spots will have special creations for just $5.

“Restaurant Week is the perfect opportunity for Athenians and visitors to experience the culinary creations of Athens’ talented chefs,” said Linda Ford, Director of Business Services at the Athens Downtown Development Authority.

Located 60 miles northeast of Atlanta, Athens has emerged as a top dining destination in recent years. James Beard winner Hugh Acheson helped put the destination on the map, first with his own Five & Ten, then with an ever-expanding list of restaurants opened by chefs who came up through the Five & Ten kitchen. Those participating in Athens Restaurant Week include:

  • home.made – Chef Mimi Maumus pulls from her New Orleans roots as well as her decades in Georgia for inspiration at home.made. The restaurant has drawn national attention from her inventive twists on old standards and local community ingredients. Earlier this year, Maumus opened a new bar space attached to home.made called Sidecar, which provides an outlet for her creativity in food and drinks, including non-alcoholic cocktails.
  • The National  This neighborhood gathering spot serves an expansive menu inspired by the cuisines of the Mediterranean and Spain, with seasonal influences from the bounty of farmers in Northeast Georgia. Founder Peter Dale (owner of Seabear Oyster Bar, Condor Chocolates and Maepole) brought together a team of brilliant hospitality professionals, including Chefs Jeremy Collins and Daniel Fetter, to deliver incredible food and beverage offerings at this local favorite.

In addition to fiercely independent restaurants, Athens is known for its award-winning craft beer scene. Recognizing the vibrant beer culture that has been fostered in Athens over the past two decades, Visit Athens GA launched The Athens Beer Trail in the fall of 2021. The trail takes visitors through the nine-mile area of Athens breweries, including Athentic Brewing CompanyNormaltown Brewing Company and Southern Brewing Company which are participating in the upcoming Athens Restaurant Week.

MILTON RESTAURANT WEEK 2021

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 11/7/21

 November 5th to November 13th

Milton-based agency, Rountree Group Integrated Communications, has announced its second annual Milton Restaurant Week (MRW), a week-long tasting event (Nov. 5 – 13) to showcase Milton restaurants through food, fellowship, and spirits. The culinary affair attracts food lovers from surrounding North Fulton communities, while giving its sponsors a chance to promote special menus and venues.

The event initially began in 2020 as a way to support local restaurants during the pandemic. “The idea began in Fall 2019 and was launched in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic to help support our restaurant community,” said Don Rountree, president of Rountree Group and founder of Milton Restaurant Week. “We launched the MRW website and social handles to give local restaurants an opportunity to showcase offerings and communicate how/when they are serving our community,” Rountree said.

Sponsoring this year’s Milton Restaurant Week, the City of Milton and Crabapple Market will be alongside a few other local businesses including:

 Milton Business Council

Olde Blind Dog Irish Pub

7 Acre BarNGrill

Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails

The Union Restaurant

Kathleen’s Catch

This year’s participating restaurants hope to impress guests by featuring several of their most popular lunch and dinner dishes, along with specialty crafted cocktails. Visitors will have the option to try new cuisine from four sponsoring restaurants at a discounted price as part of the week-long event. The selections will include cuisine ranging from pristine Southern dishes to classic Irish favorites.

The organizers hope this year’s event will be even better than the last. “Meals are a time to gather, to socialize and to engage with each other,” said Rountree. The communications agency has partnered with several local restaurants over the last decade to support its community and local businesses.

Milton, GA has been consistently highly ranked due to its prestige living community and accompanying local businesses. The thriving culinary scene has been known to contribute to the appeal of the North Fulton neighborhood. MRW is one of a few events Rountree Group has organized to support the Milton community.

“Milton offers a variety of foods from southern favorites to craft cocktails. I for one enjoy date nights, family favorites and celebrating milestones right around the corner from our home or office. We love our local partners so supporting local restaurants just makes sense. Live, work, play… and EAT,” said Ben Huard of GO Agency, GNFCC Chairman Circle Member and Founding Member of Milton Business Council.

Those interested will be able to stay updated on participating restaurants and specific details @miltonrestaurantweek on Instagram and Facebook.

ROSWELL RESTAURANT WEEKS 2021

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 1/6/21

Roswell Restaurant Week(s) Expands, Beginning January 11

Roswell Restaurant Weeks returns for a seventh year with a duration expansion. In 2021, the promotion, which ordinarily lasts ten days, will be temporarily rebranded to Roswell Restaurant Weeks, encompassing several weeks, and will run from January 11 – February 11 to support the local restaurants through a traditionally slower period of patronage. Roswell Restaurant Weeks is presented this year through a joint partnership between Roswell Inc and Visit Roswell, the economic development and tourism partner organizations for the City of Roswell.

In previous years, Roswell Restaurant Week has been celebrated as the largest restaurant-focused promotional event in Metro Atlanta. For the upcoming year, 37 participating restaurants from around the city have signed on. During the multi-week event, all participating restaurants will serve individual prix fixe menus featuring signature favorites and original specialties.

Participating restaurants include: 1920 Tavern, Adele’s on Canton, Another Broken Egg, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, Bayou Q, Big Oak Tavern, Brookwood Grill, Canton Street Social, Chipper’s Pub, Eat Raw Vegan Wellness, The Fickle Pickle, Fresco Cantina Grille, From the Earth Brewing Company, Gracious Plenty, HOLA! Taqueria & Bar Roswell, Houck’s Grille, Hugo’s Oyster Bar, Huh Natural & Real Food, Ipp’s Pastaria & Bar, Lazaro’s Cuban Cuisine, Lola’s Burger & Tequila Bar, The Mill Kitchen & Bar, Monterrey Roswell, Noca Eatery & Bar, Osteria Mattone, Peach & The Porkchop, Pure Taqueria Roswell, Rock ‘N’ Taco, Salt Factory, Souper Jenny, Table & Main, Taqueria Tsunami, Uncle Jack’s on Canton, VG bistro + bar, Vin 25, The Whiskey Project, and Zest Restaurant.

Local residents and visitors to Roswell are encouraged to follow Roswell Restaurant Weeks on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram at @RoswellRW and share dining experiences using hashtags #RoswellRW and #RRW2020.

“Restaurants and food & beverage providers make up a segment of the hospitality industry hit the hardest during the pandemic. Facing continuous COVID-related hurdles and colder months, our restaurant partners remain reliant on support that is critical at the local level. Most have made investments that include expanded patio space, tenting, fire pits and electric or gas heaters to offer a pleasant dining experience,” says Andy Williams, Executive Director at Visit Roswell. “Roswell Restaurant Weeks allows us to highlight our partners through offerings typically not seen on standard menus, and the expanded length gives patrons more opportunity to enjoy favorites and consider new choices, as well.”
