THE TAVERN AT ATLAS IS NOW OPEN

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 2/6/17

Atlas Introduces New Menu Featuring Chef-Driven Small Plates, Cocktails and More

ATLANTA (January XX, 2017) – Atlas, the acclaimed restaurant located at the St. Regis Atlanta celebrating both art and seasonal American cuisine combined with European influences, has introduced The Tavern at Atlas. The newly designed library and lounge open at 4 p.m. daily and offers guests a fresh menu of locally-sourced small plates and hand-shaken cocktails served in a comfortable and lively atmosphere.

“We want to create an experience that’s left up to the guest. We hope The Tavern at Atlas will become a go-to destination for creating social connections fueled by a spirited bar and live music,” says Atlas General Manager Geno Dew.

Created by Executive Chef Chris Grossman, The Tavern at Atlas menu boasts perfectly portioned small plates crafted to be shared at by guests at their leisure. New favorites include petit lobster pot pie; citrus-cured salmon flatbread; Atlas sliders; Island Creek roasted oysters on the half shell; rosemary roasted ruby beet tartare; 24-hour cast iron seared steak and more.

Complimenting Chef Grossman’s menu is an impressive beverage program comprised of creative, signature cocktails, wines, bubbly, craft beers and more. With something for all tastes, a sampling of expertly crafted cocktails include the Zac 23 Old Fashioned – Ron Zacapa 23 Rum, Aztec Chocolate and Angostura Bitters, Grapefruit Peel, Ice Ball; Southern Buck American Spirits White Whiskey, Ginger Beer, Lime Juice, Shaved Ice; and The Titaness – Raventos Sparkling Wine, Cocchi Rosa, Creme de Cassis, Lime Juice.

With a goal to convert the lounge and library spaces into a lively environment positioned for a more casual experience within Atlas, The Tavern at Atlas features over-scaled tables and chairs ideal for lingering and catching up with friends over shared plates and cocktails. Introducing gold tones, velvets and faux ostrich upholstery paired with walnut burl wood tables, the new design contrasts the rich colors and patterns of the restaurant’s architecture and fine art collection by using subtle complimentary colors that let the richness of the existing space take center stage.  With more seating available, guests can feel comfortable stopping in for a quick bite to lingering long into the night.

Now featuring two unique environments, Atlas will continue to provide a fine dining experience in the dining room in addition to the new menu at The Tavern Atlas. Regardless of which dining options guests choose, both experiences will maintain the Atlas standards for quality, locally-sourced ingredients, artful presentation and unparalleled service.

Atlas and the new Tavern at Atlas are located at The St. Regis Atlanta, situated within the shopping and financial district of Buckhead. Atlas is one of 16 award-winning brands operated by Tavistock Restaurant Collection. For more information or reservations, visit atlasrestaurant.com.

SUPER BOWL LI WAGER: ATLANTA’S TWO URBAN LICKS V BOSTON’S STRIP BY STREGA

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 2/2/17

Atlanta’s TWO urban licks and Boston’s STRIP by Strega Place Friendly Wager in Time

Super Bowl LI

In Honor of the Big Game this Sunday, Local Restaurant Raises the Stakes

In honor of the rivalry brewing between the two cities leading up to the Super Bowl game, Atlanta’s Concentrics Restaurants has placed a friendly wager with Boston restaurateur Nick Varano of STRIP by Strega.

If Atlanta comes out on top this Sunday and defeats New England on the field, STRIP by Strega will ship down an authentic taste of Boston by sharing a traditional New England Clambake, expertly crafted by STRIP by Strega Executive Chef Farouk Bazoune, along with a $250 donation to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.  If New England gets the win, Chef Michael Bertozzi of TWO urban licks will send up a traditional southern BBQ dinner, boasting favorites including mouth-watering brisket and pork ribs, and will make a $250 donation to a Boston-based food pantry.

The wager has been placed and the stakes are high. Both cities are confident in their hometown team, however only one city will be celebrating the big win with a full belly, and we have a feeling that TWO urban licks will be enjoying a clambake come Monday.

WHEN:

Super Bowl Sunday – February 5, 2017

Annual Three Piece Suit Football Game

Date:  Saturday, February 4th
Time: 2 pm

About: 600 attendees are expected at the 9th annual charity event THREE PIECE SUIT FOOTBALL (TPSF), happening Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the athletic field of the Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark. The location is along Atlanta’s popular BeltLine urban trail, kickoff is set for 2 pm, and admission to the event is free. The charity festival will feature food trucks, beer from Monday Night Brewing, face painting for kids, live music from Wasted Potential Brass Band, and a Frisbee dog halftime show by the Greater Atlanta Dog and Disc Club. The centerpiece of the fun-for-all-ages festival is a picture-worthy game of tackle football being played by men and women wearing three-piece suits. The yearly event first began as a pickup game of football on the morning of the Super Bowl in 2009. “The first year, there were 14 of us playing and a handful of spectators,” explains TPSF president Cameron Miller. Attendance at the event increased each year, and after three years the players decided the game should be used as a platform to raise support for local charities. To date, TPSF has raised over $38,000 for various causes at these events. Miller continues, “It’s grown because people love football and the ridiculousness of witnessing the game being played in colorful, fancy suits. It captures the imagination.” This year’s event benefits the Georgia chapter of Pets For Vets, who rescue and train shelter dogs and pair them with local military veterans who could benefit from a companion animal. Support is raised during the event through beer sales, prize raffles throughout the afternoon, donations, and a 50/50 raffle to cap it all off.
