44TH ANNUAL LANGUAGE AND LITERACY GALA

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 11/5/17

Volunteers Are Hard at Work on 2017’s Biggest Fundraiser

ATLANTA, GA The Atlanta Speech School Guild will hold its 44th Annual Language and Literacy Gala – the longest running charity event in Atlanta – on Sunday, November 12, 2017, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Capital City Club in Brookhaven. Several hundred attendees are expected to turn out in support of the Speech School’s mission to help each child reach his or her potential through language and literacy. The festive annual fundraiser will feature a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions, as well as dinner and dancing.

Volunteers held a kick-off reception on April 25 at The Atlanta Speech School, to announce the date and begin working on The Speech School Guild’s biggest annual fundraiser. The Guild provides the School with financial support, classroom and library volunteers, and works to generate community interest in the School and its services. During the 2016-17 academic year, the Speech School awarded $1.5 million in financial aid, in keeping with founder Kitty Hamm’s belief that financial circumstances should not prevent a child from receiving an education and services that could profoundly impact his or her quality of life. The Guild’s annual Gala will help maintain this important legacy of providing financial support to families in need of its services for the 2017-18 school year and beyond.

The 2017 Language & Literacy Gala co-chairs are Amy Musarra Kramer, Margaret Anne Masters and Liz Eager. The Guild President is Suzanne Deriso. A Patron Party for supporters and sponsors of the Gala will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26 at the home of Wendy and Will Stengel.
