The talks will be hosted amongst featured works from ten of Atlanta’s top art galleries (Arnika Dawkins Gallery, Kai Lin Art, Hathaway, Marcia Wood Gallery, Mason Fine Art, Matre Gallery, Spalding Nix Fine Art, Tew Galleries, Thomas Deans Fine Art and Whitespace Gallery), inside Atlanta Gallery Collective on Ponce City Market’s second floor in the Central Food Hall.

Thursday, Feb. 15, 6-8pm:

Richard Thomas Scott Artist Talk highlighting the artist’s post-contemporary figurative paintings and writings on aesthetic theory. Working between New York and Paris, and originally from Georgia, Scott says in the artist statement for his painting New Amsterdam: “Though in my work I seek answers, I do not presume to answer them myself. The best I can hope is to contribute more nuanced questions. I believe that art can affect the direction of culture.” Scott’s work is in many collections including The New Britain Museum of American Art & the Georgia Museum of Art. Wednesday, Feb. 28, 6-8pm:

Jerry Siegel Scott Artist Talk & Book Signing showcasing Black Belt Color, a monograph featuring images from the photographer’s hometown of Selma, Alabama and the unique cultural landscape of the area, known as the “Black Belt.” William Eiland, director of the Georgia Museum of Art, writes, “These photographs speak of deep attachment, of reasoned critique, of the vagaries of memory…He has stories to tell, a time & place to document & plenty of territory to cover in doing so. He does so with color & light & structure in photographs that are as evocative as they are subtle.” Siegel’s photographs are in many private & corporate collections, including the Ogden Museum of Art, the Birmingham Museum of Art and 11 other southeastern U.S. museums. View Siegel’s work HERE, and RSVP HERE for the event. Books are available for purchase at the event.

Thursday, March 8, 6-8pmLandon Nordeman Artist Talk & Book Signing featuring the famed international photographer’s Out of Fashion (named one of the best Photo Books of 2016 by TIME). Looking for the eternal in the ephemeral, Nordeman photographs fine art projects and works for commercial and editorial clients around the world. Though his photographs often appear staged, Nordeman pulls back the curtains and gives viewers a look into the backstage scene at high-profile fashion shows where his subjects are shown in candid moments that are also surreal and even surprising. He has received praise from American Photography, Communication Arts, Pictures of the Year International, The PDN Photo Annual, The Center for Documentary Studies, PDN’s 30 & The Society for Publication Design.
