15TH ANNUAL ICE HOLIDAY SHOPPING SPECTACULAR

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 10/25/19

The Two-Day Event Will Be Held in New, Bigger Location at Georgia World Congress Center & Will Feature More than 200 Vendors

Takes Place on Saturday, November 23 & Sunday, November 24

The Indie Craft Experience, the Atlanta-based organization and producer of craft and vintage markets, announces that the 2019 Holiday Shopping Spectacular will be held on Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24 from 11-6pm each day. The annual event will celebrate its fifteenth year with a lineup of more than 200 crafters, artists, makers and vintage sellers from around the country, and, for the first time ever, the event will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) located in Downtown Atlanta.

The Holiday Shopping Spectacular is the Indie Craft Experience’s largest event and features a two-day curated market experience that connects crafters, artists, makers and vintage sellers with the Atlanta community. Now in its fifteenth year, the market is bigger than ever with offerings beyond shopping. In addition to browsing vendor booths for gifts, attendees can have their aura photographed, visit a pop-up location of the Atlanta-Fulton County Library, listen to tunes by DJ Zano, explore a special new area devoted to locally-produced food products curated and sponsored by Georgia Grown, take part in hands-on art activations and join in on spontaneous caroling led by local chorus singers. Shoppers can also take advantage of on-site gift wrapping and enjoy sips and bites from participating food vendors while they peruse.

The Indie Craft Experience was born in 2005 when co-founders Christy Petterson and Shannon Mulkey Green identified a need for a new kind of artisan market in Atlanta. The pair met while attending a craft market showcasing their own handcrafted creations and put their heads together to create a market inspired by Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago and Stitch in Austin. Today, Indie Craft Experience produces markets, workshops and DIY experiences throughout the year. Read more about Christy and Shannon and their mission to educate and encourage crafters and vintage sellers here.

“2019 marks our fifteenth year of working with the most talented craft and vintage vendors around,” said Christy Petterson. “We are continually blown away by their creativity and talent and are so happy to be able to provide Atlanta shoppers with the best opportunity for holiday gift buying. Our event provides people with a fun holiday shopping experience, and everyone can feel great about supporting local talent by purchasing directly from our vendors!”

The market showcases handmade jewelry, pottery, prints, candles, artisan bath and body products, stationery and more; the impressive lineup of vendors includes Aplombist, Bear Hug Honey Company, Beautiful Briny Sea, Cotton Blossom Press, Elizabeth Foster Art, Garden Goat Co., Kinfolk of Mine, KMM & Co., Mazzy Threads, MonaDoesConcrete, Old Fourth Ward Light Co., Rachel Rose Studio, Sydney Williams Pottery, Vixon Sullivan Art and Yewo, among others.
