City Winery celebrates black-owned wineries, breweries and distilleries on Saturday, August 31st during An Afternoon with Black Beverage Artisans.

Beverage Director, James Brim, has curated a tasting menu featuring some of the best African American-owned and produced beer, wine, and whiskey.

Attendees will wander the spacious patio, sampling from companies such as Brown Estate Wines, Mouton Noir Wine, McBride Sisters Wine, Uncle Nearest Whiskey, Khonso Brewing, and Atlanta’s own Down Home Brewing.

Sommeliers will be on hand to guide the experience. Guests will enjoy music courtesy of a DJ until 6 p.m., when Wine Down Weekends (free live music) begins on the patio.

MELTY FEST ATLANTA 2019: A CELEBRATION OF PIMENTO CHEESE

Sweet Auburn Barbecue, the Atlanta barbecue spot from dynamic brother-and-sister duo Howard and Anita Hsu, is teaming up with Tillamook, Oregon’s favorite dairy co-op, for Tillamook Presents: A Celebration of Pimento Cheese on Thursday, August 22! On a mission to share their award-winning products with food lovers from coast to coast, Tillamook embarked on the first-ever Melty Fest Tour featuring a series of curated regional events in cities across America earlier this year.

To celebrate Atlanta and the culinary greatness of the American Southeast, Tillamook and Sweet Auburn Barbecue have invited a roster of Atlanta’s most talented chefs to showcase and celebrate Southern staple pimento cheese in just about every way imaginable—from the Hsu family’s famed pimento cheese wonton that blends their Malaysian-Chinese roots with their southern upbringing, to the pimento cheese creations of Atlanta’s top chefs. Let’s get peachy! Summer in Georgia signals the start of peach season and this year, Georgia’s popular PeachFest is moving to a new location: Peachtree Center. From 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, downtown Atlanta’s iconic mixed-use development will open its beautifully renovated plaza to more than 1,000 attendees and 70 food artisans, pastry chefs and barkeeps for the third annual peach filled extravaganza. PeachFest will be Peachtree Center’s first-ever public event since completing its modernization in May.

“We’re thrilled to bring PeachFest to Peachtree Center this year,” said Leslie Bland, Director of Marketing at Peachtree Center. “Having such a vibrant event full of local energy at the newly renovated Peachtree Center gives us a chance to further connect with the Downtown Atlanta community and show off our fresh new look.”

At PeachFest, guests will have the opportunity to sample the best dishes the city’s culinary scene has to offer and rub elbows with some of Atlanta’s famous chefs including Andre Gomez, the visionary behind Porch Light Latin Kitchen. Guests can also expect appearances from local farmers like Jon Jackson of Comfort Farms who will take the stage to discuss the difference of raising heritage breeds on open pastures. The sight alone will be worth the downtown detour as guests sample specialty crafted tastes, bites and sips of various on-and-off-menu favorites all featuring the state’s signature fruit: the Georgia peach.

Focused on supporting agriculture and providing opportunities for the future farmers of America,the event generates opportunity for smaller farmers across the state. At the helm of the fundraiser is a not-to-miss silent auction featuring items from Atlanta restaurants and sponsors, including rare cellared wines. PeachFest Tickets start at $70 for the all-inclusive afternoon affair. Entry to the event gets you peach-centric dishes of all varieties such as pizza, paleo, baked goods, appetizers, beer, wine, cocktails and much more curated by some of the leading influencers in the city’s food and beverage industry. VIP entry costs $100 and includes early access, an extra hour of the festival which includes a private tasting of cellared wines in the silent auction lounge, limited dishes, reserve spirits and more time to mix and mingle with the chefs, winemakers and farmers.

The beneficiary of the event, Piggy Bank , an organization that aims to change the future of food by creating a community in which small farmers can learn about safer, more responsible practices and share livestock, and the very information needed to thrive as small businesses. Piggy Bank operates as a project of the Multiplier which is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization.

2019 ATLANTA SUMMER WINE FEST

The Atlanta Summer Wine Fest will be held on Saturday, August 10th at City Winery with two sessions to choose from: 12-4pm and 6-10pm. We will have over 50 wines as well as a selection of local beer to choose from. There will be live music upstairs, DJ Q-Tip downstairs, and food will be available for purchase from City Winery. The wine list will be added to the website in the weeks prior to the event. Tickets are now on sale for $45 and will increase to $50 after August 1st and $60 at the door. 4TH ANNUAL SPRINGER MOUNTAIN FARMS SOUTHERN WING SHOWDOWN

Over 30 Top Chefs from Around the Southeast Will Compete for ‘Best Wing’ Title

Springer Mountain Farms Southern Wing Showdown, the favorite all-inclusive summer festival celebrating unique takes on a Southern staple, will return for its fourth year on Sunday, August 25 at The Fairmont (1429 Fairmont Ave NW) in Atlanta’s West Midtown neighborhood from 1pm to 5pm.

Sponsored by Springer Mountain Farms and Big Green Egg and produced by Taste of Atlanta, the event will feature creative talent from over 30 prominent Southeastern chefs hailing from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, including Atlanta’s Matt Basford of Canoe (2018 ‘Best Wing’ Winner) and Drew Van Leuvan of Seven Lamps, Charlotte’s Greg Collier of Loft & Cellar and more.

While enjoying wings and sides from acclaimed chefs, attendees can also sip beer, wine and specially crafted cocktails that complement chef creations. Local purveyor Springer Mountain Farms will provide chefs with chicken that’s raised without antibiotics, steroids, growth stimulants or hormones, and each chef will serve their unique recipe as they battle it out to win ‘Best Wing’ in a competition judged by festival goers and a panel of wing aficionados. The winner of Southern Wing Showdown will win a Big Green Egg to take home.

Angel Flight Soars, a volunteer pilot organization located at Dekalb Peachtree airport and providing flight services to patients in need of medical-related care, will be a nonprofit beneficiary for this event and will host a silent auction on-site. The festival will also support Second Helpings Atlanta – a nonprofit food rescue organization that fights hunger and reduces food waste in the city – who will be doing food recovery onsite.

Starting in June, tickets will be available for purchase online and will grant access to all-you-can-eat tastes and drinks, including signature cocktails, beer and wine, plus live music from Luke Latimer. There will be both General Admission and VIP tickets, with the first hour of the events reserved for VIP First Taster attendees. The event sells out every year, and last year, approximately 28,000 wings were eaten by attendees.

The 16th Annual Atlanta German Bierfest is back on Saturday, August 24th in Woodruff Park in Downtown Atlanta for an incredible day of authentic German beers, music and food. Festival fans will receive a commemorative sample glass to enjoy unlimited samples of more than 35 authentic German Beers. Atlanta area German restaurants and food vendors will serve up authentic cuisine such as bratwurst, käsepätzle, pretzels, sauerkraut, schnitzel, and more! The German Bierfest also features live music and plenty of hands on sports activities and games. Gates open at 2pm and the event ends at 7pm.

Tickets for the event are on sale now at www.germanbierfest.com. General admission tickets are $35 advance, $40 day of show and include admission into the event, a commemorative German Bierfest sampling glass and all the beer you can safely consume. Designated driver tickets are available for $10 which includes event admission plus unlimited soft drinks and water.
