The full Lost Art 2022 lineup includes Durand Jones & The IndicationsPaul CauthenThe Lone BellowRayland BaxterSouthern Avenue, and Margo CilkerAaron Lee Tasjan and Gabe Lee will be a part of the Friday Night Kickoff Party.

“Lost Art Music Festival’s mantra from the start is ‘Experience music again,’ and our team built this festival with that in mind. Combining two days of live music with the beautiful setting at Foxhall and fun excursions and experiences with artists, that’s what drives our passion for festivals,” said Lost Art Music Festival Founder Jim Ethridge.

At the spacious Sports Lawn at Foxhall Resort (next to the festival grounds), fans start with international-inspired BBQ from Chef Mike LaSage with Drunk & Lucky Social Club. Then, a Wild Heaven beer expert discusses how to pair beer and smoked meats. Is Germany onto something with the traditional lager? Should you pair it with the meat or with the sauce? Mmm! What could make this a better way to kick off the day? Well, The Lone Bellow will perform a short set. Sounds like fun, y’all! Capacity – 50 / Cost $40.
Fishin’ with Durand Jones & The Indications:
From a gorgeous lake next to the festival grounds, a fishing guide will talk to fans about the history of the lake, what fish frequent the waters, and what bait works best. Then, join Durand Jones & The Indications for leisurely fishing from the bank. If you need help, the guide will set up your rod. If not, let ‘er rip! Anyone who catches a fish gets a free Lost Art koozie. Rods and one beverage (Wild Heaven Beer or Cathead Sparkling) will be provided. Fishing, drinks, blue skies, and your favorite band. Yes, please!  Capacity – 12 / Cost – $30.
Rayland Baxter ATV Tour and Hayride:

Helluva a way to kick off a festival day! Capacity – 4 ATVs (two riders each), plus 10 for the hayride / ATV – $200 total + taxes/fees per ATV for one driver + one rider. $25 per person for hayride.
Margo Cilker Chattahoochee River Walk Concert + Cocktail:
While enjoying a beverage (one Wild Heaven Beer or Cathead Sparkling), fans take a leisurely, 15-minute hike along the Chattahoochee River (next to the Lost Art festival grounds), ending at a vista by the old stone bridge. Once there, Margo Cilker will perform a short, unamplified set.  Capacity – 30 / $20 per person.
Southern Avenue & Cathead Cocktail Making Class:
To kick things off, a Cathead Distillery expert will lead fans on a brief history of summer cocktails and then on to how to create the classic Cocktail. They’ll share a couple of their best cocktail tricks (one ice cube vs. many, bitters or no, orange zest, etc.) You’ll have all the ingredients provided, so you can play along to create your own. Then, Southern Avenue joins for the making of the second drink, “The Southern Avenue,” which incorporates some of the band’s favorite cocktail characteristics. Must be 21+.  Capacity – 20 / $35 per person.

Lapeer

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 5/9/22

The beautiful white building sits next to a sprawling green that makes its large “steeple” stand out amongst the downtown space. Is that a lighthouse? Inside, warm decorative lighting descends upon the large, ornate bar. The enclosed sunroom is stunning with earthy wood tables, mixed media ceiling, and beautiful lighting. Lapeer not only is stunning in ambiance but also in their wonderful food! Like this steak, a perfectly cooked filet that literally melts in your mouth and has the right amount of seasoning. No sauce required! It’s really the PERFECT piece of meat! But, the newly rebranded steakhouse doesn’t stop there, everything from the savory steak sauces to the elevated cocktails, the amazing apps, and even some of the best chocolate cake is all top notch! This is the perfect spot for a date night!

Why not start out with a cocktail? They have some good ones like the 5pm Somewhere! This great, balanced cocktail is tart and tangy with a good bit of creaminess from the foam. They also have an extensive wine list with several varieties of wine by the glass and even more bottles!

Starting with the amazing apps, the Beef Tartare and Seafood dip, the tartare starts out with a ton of savory meat, while the onion and mustard bring out the flavor with tang! The entire bite ends up tangy, creamy, savory, and then a crunch of the buttery bread. One the other hand, the Lapeer Smoked Fish Dish has a myriad of flavors from the creaminess of the dip to the saltiness of the fish and then a smokiness on top. Whatever you do make sure to mix it with the Kraken Blood hot sauce, it gives it a kick!

We opted to share a beautiful center-cut filet mignon and got almost every side you could imagine. Of all the sides, the crave-able Creamy Potatoes Gratin is hands down the best side. It is one part rich and creamy, then on the other side sweet and savory. Icing on the cake is the crunchy cheese on top! The Broccolini is earthy and tender inside with a nice char and crisp on the outside. This delicious side has a ton of flavor! On to the Charred Cabbage, which is tender and mild then on the top a healthy char. Underneath, the moat of savory sauce blends with a perfect amount of tang and sweetness. Last but not least are the creamy, dreamy whipped mashed potatoes that definitely pairs well with any of the steak sauces. They are buttery, creamy, and just right! We recommend pairing with the amazing steak jus sauce for ultimate bite.

The star of the show, though, had to be the Center-Cut Filet. It is perfection with the right amount of seasoning outside and juicy and savory inside. As we mentioned earlier it doesn’t really need any sauces, but they have some great ones that pair well with it. On the side they have roasted garlic, so we rolled that up with the Steak Jus and this was a great combo with the steak or even those crispy fries on the side! You really can’t go wrong with any of them!

To end the night, we opted for the amazing Chocolate Cake. It’s really the perfect amount of chocolate, not over-powering or over rich. The cake itself is darker chocolate with a little more flavor and then the icing gives it depth with a milkier flavor. It’s a great combination. On top, they added chocolate crunchies that add a fun texture to the bite. The perfect way to end an incredible meal.

MOVIEBUSTER: SAVE THE VIDEO STORE IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 5/8/22

Avenue West Cobb

May 6 to June 12

Into the Film is psyched to bring “Save the Video Store,” an immersive theatrical experience, to the Atlanta area. Created and directed by Erin Stegeman (Once Upon A Time: The Rock Opera, Shame of Thrones), “Save the Video Store” is described as a combination of nostalgia, intimate theater, and escape room. The 75-minute experience thrusts guests into iconic ‘90s movies as they engage with the cast of MOVIEBUSTER employees, compete for prizes and more.

The team at Into the Film is no stranger to the interactive theater experience. In 2017, they produced “A Night at the Opera,” an experience which allowed guests to enter the world of 1880s Paris to become part of one of the most famous stories of all time: The Phantom of the Opera.

“We are all massive cinephiles who have been hungry for a new way to experience film, bringing it to life with immersive theater,” said Into the Film co-founders Erik Mihlsten and Alena Geffner-Mihlsten. “With the massive growth of the film industry in Atlanta over the last several years, we believe it’s the perfect location to thrust an audience right into the action at the intersection of film and theater.”

“Save the Video Store” is set to run from May 6 – June 12, 2022, at the Avenue West Cobb in Marietta.

For more information and to purchase tickets, visit mymoviebuster.com.

ROOFTOP L.O.A. OFFSETS ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT WITH SUSTAINABLE INITIATIVES & GREEN TECHNOLOGY

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 4/29/22

Solar Hybrid System Supplements Over 15 Percent of Energy for the Restaurant, Pool + Grove and Smart Windows Increase Efficiency by up to 20 Percent

Rooftop L.O.A., the soon-to-open, world-class resort-style Restaurant, Pool, and Grove atop The Interlock in West Midtown, is equipped with state-of-the-art green technology designed to increase efficiency for the entire rooftop. Situated nine stories above Atlanta lies a 38,000-square-foot rooftop featuring a 118-kW solar hybrid system, which heats the 1,200-square-foot resort-style Pool and provides electricity throughout the rooftop, plus self-tinting windows and doors that change intelligently throughout the day based on real-time conditions and increasing efficiency.

The solar hybrid system, which consists of 77 interconnected panels spread out across two roofs and represents a $550,000 investment for Slater Hospitality, is unique for hospitality and culinary concepts. While solar panels are becoming more typical for commercial buildings and offices, carbon offsets via solar panels are quite uncommon for restaurants and resorts. Rooftop L.O.A.’s innovative solar hybrid system supports electricity and hot water for the entire rooftop, which includes the 8,000-square-foot full-service Restaurant and three bars throughout. Their sustainable efforts designated Rooftop L.O.A. as a Green Energy Project by the Small Business Administration.

Another element of the rooftop’s sustainability is View Smart Windows. Not only do the windows increase energy efficiency by up to 20 percent and reduce cooling cost by up to 30 percent, but they also increase access to natural light and unobstructed, 360° views of Atlanta’s skyline. By eliminating the need for blinds and shades, and minimizing heat and glare, the Rooftop L.O.A. guest experience is comfortable and sophisticated. Complete with car charging stations in the parking garage, the entire Interlock property is tech-forward.

“As we began concepting for Rooftop L.O.A., it was important to us to consider our environmental impact and we had the opportunity to take an innovative approach in creating this space from scratch,” said Slater Hospitality CFO, Brett Hull-Ryde. “We wanted to be efficient and sustainable, all while remaining aligned to our ‘people-first’ value, which is at the center of everything we do at Slater Hospitality.”

Rooftop L.O.A. is also minimizing single-use plastic with pasta straws and Vero Water for premium filtered water without the plastic bottle and the waste. Furthermore, L.O.A. staff uniforms supplied by Alex Crane are made with 100% sustainably sourced linen, which is a renewable and natural material.
