ATLANTA INTERNATIONAL AI FILM FESTIVAL DEBUTS MARCH 22

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 3/6/25

The first annual Atlanta International AI Film Festival (AIAIFF) is on March 22, 2025 from 4:00 – 9:00 pm at MODEx, offering filmmakers, content creators, and creative professionals an opportunity to explore the future of artificial intelligence and storytelling. As the first AI-focused film festival in the Southeast, AIAIFF aims to ignite conversations about how artificial intelligence is shaping the way we create, produce, and experience film.

Founded by Latina filmmaker, UGA alumna, and actress Natalia Gonzalez, AIAIFF was born from her own journey navigating Georgia’s indie film scene.

“As a filmmaker who started from scratch here in Georgia, I know how vital it is to find trustworthy collaborators and stay on top of new tools that can elevate our work,” said Gonzalez. “I created AIAIFF to bring our community together—so we can learn, experiment, and grow into a creative force known for innovation and storytelling that’s uniquely Atlanta.”

AIAIFF is designed for filmmakers, content creators, and AI enthusiasts eager to explore how emerging technology is reshaping storytelling. Whether you’re an indie filmmaker experimenting with AI tools, a creative technologist pushing boundaries, or a media professional curious about the future of content creation, AIAIFF offers hands-on workshops, thought-provoking panels, and networking opportunities led by an impressive lineup of industry leaders.

  • Verena Puhm – AI filmmaker & producer (CNN, BBC, Netflix) known for integrating AI into cinematic storytelling, recently featured in Forbes as a top AI artist.
  • Yves Bergquist – AI researcher & director at USC’s Entertainment Technology Center, where he works with Hollywood studios & tech giants like Google and Amazon.
  • Karina Anglada – Strategic Development Manager at Adobe, specializing in AI-powered post-production workflows.
  • Stacey Kelly – Award-winning filmmaker & finalist for the Disney Directing Fellowship, blending AI with authentic storytelling.
  • Bobby Majoch – AI researcher and graduate student at Georgia State University’s CMII, specializing in AI-driven virtual production and storytelling innovation.
  • Alissa Huelsman-Bell – Author of 19 books and founder of Bell Boys Media, blending storytelling with media production to create compelling narratives across film and literature.

As conversations around AI in filmmaking continue to spark debate, AIAIFF welcomes both excitement and skepticism. The festival is committed to promoting responsible, ethical AI adoption, with a strong focus on protecting creative ownership and empowering storytellers—not replacing them.

“AI can’t replace human emotion, intuition, or lived experience,” said Gonzalez. “But when used thoughtfully, it can remove barriers, speed up workflows, and help indie filmmakers tell even more ambitious stories—on their own terms.”

AIAIFF has selected 10 finalist films to be screened, with winners announced in five categories — including one winner selected by audience vote. The festival will close the day with a networking mixer, providing attendees with the chance to connect with fellow creatives, industry pros, and technology experts.

The official media partner of the festival, Georgia Entertainment, brings its deep connections and commitment to spotlighting innovation, creativity, and growth within Georgia’s creative economy.

Tickets are available now at aiaiff.com, with a 20% discount for early registrants using code AIAIFF20 at checkout.  VIP ticket holders will receive a swag bag and raffle ticket for exclusive prizes. END HUNGER ONE STEP AT A TIME AT ATLANTA COMMUNITY FOOD BANK’S ANNUAL HUNGER WALK RUN ON MARCH 9

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 3/6/25

Make a difference and sign up to help end hunger at the in-person and virtual event

The Atlanta Community Food Bank invites the community to participate in its 41st annual Hunger Walk Run on March 9. With the Food Bank seeing the highest need for food assistance since the pandemic, this year’s event is critical for raising awareness and funds to combat hunger in metro Atlanta and North Georgia. Participants can join either in person from noon to 4 p.m. at The Home Depot Backyard or virtually.

“In these challenging times, our annual Hunger Walk Run unites the community to make an impact in the fight against hunger across Atlanta and beyond.  Food insecurity is all around us, and the need is greater than ever,” said Kyle Waide, President & CEO of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. “Every person who participates helps provide nutritious food and vital resources to children, families, seniors, and others in need. This is not just about one day. It’s about inspiring an ongoing commitment to take action and end hunger in our community.”

Each registered walker helps provide 90 meals, while each runner helps provide 120 meals for our neighbors who are struggling. With 1 in 5 children in Georgia facing food insecurity, every registration makes a significant impact. In its 40 years, Hunger Walk Run has raised more than $15.5 million for hunger relief – enough to help provide more than 46 million meals!

Online registration is available until March 7 at noon. Registration is $30 for walkers and $40 for runners. Walk-up registration will also be available on the day of the event at a slightly higher rate.

Hunger Walk Run benefits the Atlanta Community Food Bank and other local nonprofit hunger relief organizations that operate and support food pantries, shelters, community kitchens, senior centers, and childcare centers across metro Atlanta and north Georgia. Participants and donors are encouraged to support the benefiting partner of their choice, allowing for tailored giving while contributing to broader community-wide hunger relief efforts.

“The Atlanta Community Food Bank plays a crucial role in impacting food insecurity in metro Atlanta and North Georgia, helping families with affordability,” said Jason Cuevas, Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at Georgia Power. “We are proud to support their annual Hunger Walk Run and partner to enhance programs that provide assistance for our neighbors.”

The Food Bank is grateful for the generous support of its Presenting Sponsors — Georgia Power and Inspire Foundation; Gold Sponsors — Beazer Charity Foundation, The Coca-Cola Company, The Home Depot Backyard, and IHG Hotels & Resorts; and Media Partners – The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Radio One Atlanta, and WXIA-TV 11Alive.

“One of Inspire Foundation’s focus areas is childhood hunger, so we are proud to support the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Hunger Walk Run,” said Stuart Brown, Executive Director of Inspire Brands Foundation. “Helping children and families have access to the food they need fuels a child’s potential.”

The 5K walk and fun run is open to people of all ages and abilities. Participants may register as an individual or team. The event, which takes place rain or shine, will feature music, food vendors, warm-ups, and much more. Participants can stay up to date on the event by downloading the Hunger Walk Run app. The app is free and may be used on iPhone/iPad and Android mobile/tablet by registered participants.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank is the fourth largest food bank in the country by distribution volume, serving over 715,000 food insecure neighbors. The organization works with more than 700 nonprofit partners to provide healthy and nutritious food to the communities they serve.

A Celebration of Mediterranean Bites, Bold Wines, and Late-Night Traditions

Friday, February 28, 2025

Forget the passport- Kitty Dare is bringing Spain’s electric late-night energy, bold flavors, and wine-soaked traditions straight to Inman Park. On Friday, February 28, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., the heated patio will transform into a bustling Mediterranean escape, where guests sip, snack, and celebrate like they’re in the pintxos bars of San Sebastián.

Expect an evening of endless Spanish wine, Mediterranean-inspired bites, and unapologetic revelry. Executive Chef Giuseppe Esposito is curating a spread of coastal Spanish flavors—from fresh seafood and spiced chorizo to expertly aged cheeses and housemade breads—served as pintxos and tapas meant for lingering over with a glass (or three) in hand.

For one night, Kitty Dare’s already top-tier wine selection is dedicated to rare and standout selections from Spain. In partnership with VinoTeca and B&L Brands, guests will explore exclusive pours from family-run estates, alongside Spanish-style gin and tonics, handcrafted sangria, and other signature sips. And in true Spanish fashion, the night won’t just be about what’s on the plate. Live music will set the tone, and guests are encouraged to embrace tradition—when the wine is flowing, the napkins hit the floor.

Tickets for Spain After Dark are $100 per person plus tax and gratuity, with limited availability and can be purchased by calling Kitty Dare at (404) 228-1566. Kitty Dare is located at 1029 Edgewood Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.kittydare.com.
