Imagine Music Festival, the Southeast’s most immersive electronic festival, has announced the phase two lineup for its 2023 edition returning to Kingston Downs, GA from September 14-17. These additions  create the artist lineup for one of festival season’s most anticipated experiences, where interactive adventure meets world class electronic music headliners, unique art installations, wellness programming, and a vibrant fan community at one of  the World’s most scenic camping venues.

Imagine’s foundation continues to be rooted in curating world class electronic music lineups year after year, with the 2023 edition presenting its most powerful offering to date. Over four days and nights, attendees will be treated to over 100 artists spread across four stages.

With its phase two lineup, Imagine takes its already stellar collection of back to back sets to another level, adding a first ever b2b festival set from iconic bass music producers Subtronics and Ganja White Night. In addition to their headlining set, Slander Presents: Before Dawn will see the Gud Vibrations label heads play a second techno-flavored set. Other phase two highlights include a Hybrid Set from energetic jungle-pop and house duo Sofi Tukker, live acts such as multi-instrumentalist Elderbrook and production duo Kasablanca, rising house hitters NostalgixDeeper Purpose, and Matt Sassari, the hard-hitting sounds of Marauda and Mersiv, and sentimental electro pop duo Telykast among others.

This comes in addition to a lineup already led by some of the scene’s most celebrated names like HypnoVision label head Rezz, Black Book Records boss Chris Lake, floor-filling tech house sensation John Summit for an Off The Grid takeover, and a Sunset Set from Australian tech house king Dom Dolla. Additional highlights include a special performance from dubstep icon Svdden Death: Into The Inferno, the inimitable live multi-instrumentalist duo Big Gigantic, emotionally-charged producers Dabin and Said The Sky’s collaborative Dab the Sky, star Brazilian producer Vintage Culture, and the transcendent productions of Jade Cicada.

In true Imagine fashion, fans can expect a slew of rare back to back sets they won’t be able to see anywhere else. These head to head throwdowns include Dillon Francis and bass music breakout Knock2, the heavier frequencies of NGHTMRE and Diesel aka the larger than life Shaquille O’Neal, and HE$H teaming with Level Up for a bass and dubstep floor shaker.

Imagine has always been an incubator for artists who have risen from the ranks of Atlanta’s electronic music scene and those of its surrounding states. Among the highlighted local acts are Monstercat’s Leah Culver, American techno upstart Sam Wolfe, underground bass producer Meduso, multi-genre producer Subrinse, Terminal Underground’s Galo, Purified Records’ JD Farrell and many more acts from around the region.

Fans can also join Imagine’s Thursday Pre-Party takeover by emerging star ISOxo for one of the first exclusive performances of the rising producer’s debut album ‘kidsgonemad!’ hosted by Brownies & Lemonade and featuring additional performances from NinajirachiSquiredStooki SoundVilla, and a live set from dance trio Wavedash. This year for the first time, the party will be exclusive for all campers with early arrival.

Pool Parties will be held Saturday and Sunday featuring sets from Dombresky’s Disco Dom alias and Never Dull on Saturday. In addition, the heavier bass frequencies of Kai Wachi and Ruvlo will take over on Sunday. Renowned record label Monstercat, Brownies and Lemonade, and John Summit’s Off The Grid will also host their own stage for the first time at the festival.

With its combination of undisturbed woodlands, sprawling grass fields, nature trails, and riverfront access, last year’s newly debuted venue location of Kingston Downs proved to be the ideal match for Imagine’s creative utopia. The family-owned and operated 5,000+ acre property is situated on the Etowah River, conveniently located a few miles outside of Rome, GA, and just 45 minutes north of metro Atlanta. It’s the perfect setting for festival goers to chart their own adventure, where opportunities to explore are boundless.

Immersive entertainment and thought provoking experiences await Imagine’s dedicated community and new-comers alike. Attendees can get lost in transformative workshops focused on topics like yoga, flow arts, meditation, consciousness, mindfulness, art, and more. Fans can also check out on-site art from visionary artists, live painters and muralists, participate in outdoor games and activities like cornhole, witness the visual spectacle of cirque acts, and grab food and refreshments from some of the best local festival food and nationally touring vendors.

In Madeleine Goodhand, Co-Founder of Imagine Festival’s own words, “Imagine Festival was founded with a simple but powerful belief – that through the transformative power of music, art, and community, we can ignite the imagination and inspire positive change in the world where our dreams become a reality. It’s a celebration of creativity, diversity, and possibility, and I am constantly in awe of the incredible energy and passion that our attendees bring to the event. Together, we are building a vibrant community, one beat, one brushstroke, and one moment at a time.”

Free, Family-Friendly Festival With Live Music, an Artist Market, Food Trucks, Bouncy House Village, 5K Run, and Much More

Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27, 2023

For two decades, the Grant Park Conservancy Summer Shade Festival has welcomed music, art, and event enthusiasts to close out summer during two fun-filled two days celebrating Atlanta’s oldest park. The 21st annual Summer Shade Festival will take place on Saturday, August 26, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, August 27, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Featuring an impressive lineup of live music, an expansive artist market, bouncy houses for the kids, a 5K run, family-friendly activities, local food trucks and vendors, cocktails, beer and more, the festival is free to attend and welcomes all ages.

“I am so proud of the work the Conservancy and the Summer Shade committee do to bring this festival to the community. Their hard work and volunteer efforts are what make this festival a beloved southeast Atlanta tradition. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the park this August for great music, food, and art,” says Michelle Blackmon, Executive Director of the Grant Park Conservancy.

On Saturday morning at 8 am, runners, walkers and strollers are invited to kick off the festival at the annual Adams Realtors Run for the Park 5K. Raising funds to support the Grant Park Conservancy, the race starts and finishes at the main entrance of Zoo Atlanta. Register for the race today: www.tinyurl.com/runforthepark

To celebrate Grant Park’s 140th birthday, make a $140 donation and become a Summer Shade Festival Sustaining Supporter! In addition to supporting your favorite park and festival, you’ll get a cool Summer Shade themed 6-pack cooler. PUNK FOODIE FEST VOL. 2

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 6/4/23

Chef pop-ups, DJ performances, craft beer and more are coming to the dynamic indoor-outdoor culinary destination

On Saturday, June 10, Westside Motor Lounge, the indoor-outdoor restaurant, bar, beer garden and live music venue at Echo Street West, will host Punk Foodie Fest vol. 2, a culinary celebration hosted by Punk Foodie with live DJ performances, specialty craft beer and 16 restaurant pop-ups. From noon to 5 p.m., attendees are invited to enjoy over 45 dishes representing a wide range of cuisines from a variety of local Atlanta pop-up chefs.  Proceeds from the event are expected to support charity Flavor Forward’s production of at least 500 fresh, chef-cooked meals for individuals experiencing food insecurity. Tickets are now available for purchase.

“Punk Foodie Fest Vol. 2 is an incredible way to bring the community together to celebrate the underground Atlanta food scene while also supporting a great cause,” said Kelly Campbell, Partner at STHRN Hospitality Co. and Southern Culinary & Creative, the company behind Westside Motor Lounge. “Westside Motor Lounge and Punk Foodie have similar missions of discovering unique talents in the music and food scenes, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner and spread awareness of some of the best in Atlanta’s culinary scene.”

Punk Foodie Fest Vol. 2 is an all-ages event. Each ticket includes access to Westside Motor Lounge and the 16 pop-up chef concepts, all DJ performances and one complimentary smoked fruit Berliner Weisse beer or nonalcoholic alternative. The list of attending chefs is available here. Children ages 13 and under are free to attend and furry friends are welcome. Costs for food, beverage and vendor goods will vary. Free parking is available at Westside Motor Lounge or Guardian Works at Echo Street West.

“We have carefully curated the list of 16 chefs and 45 dishes to help showcase the wonderful ways in which pop-up chefs are redefining the restaurant landscape in Atlanta (a third of Eater’s hottest restaurants were originally pop-ups),” said Sam Flemming, founder Punk Foodie. “These chefs everyday are painting pictures of the new South, not with paint on canvas, but with local and global ingredients served in Styrofoam take-out boxes from borrowed kitchens and 10×10 tents with tabletop fryers all over the city.”

Founded by father and son team Sam and Leo Flemming and powered by Punk Foodie, Flavor Forward is a community giving platform that provides local chefs with the tools and facilities to prepare warm meals for those experiencing food insecurity. Last year, Flavor Forward delivered over 5,000 meals to local organizers Camp Peace, Intown Cares, The Cathedral Towers, Second Helpings and Free99Fridge.

Punk Foodie is the ‘go-to’ platform for diners to discover unique, local experiences from the Atlanta underground dining scene. The platform hosts a database of over 900 Atlanta area pop-up chefs and manages a calendar of over 200 culinary events per week. At the festival, Punk Foodie will launch the new Punk Foodie app and the official Punk Foodie beer, smoked fruit Berliner Weisse, a collaboration between Round Trip Brewery and Secret Pint BBQ.

Additionally, Westside Motor Lounge will host Skyway Man on Friday, June 9 and the “Girls Love To BAMBA” Day Party on Sunday, June 11 from 4 to 10 p.m. In partnership with Girls Love Ama + Bamba Tuesdays, Westside Motor Lounge will be transformed into an extravaganza of Amapiano, Gqom, Bacardi, Afrohouse, and more. The musical lineup includes DJ Tag, DJ Kash, Danger VYBZ and Xavier Blk. The day party is an ages 21 and up event, and tickets are now available for purchase.

THE ATLANTA FAIR RUNS THROUGH APRIL 9

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 4/3/23

Celebrate the start of spring with more family-friendly fun, rides and entertainment

Atlanta Fair is cruising into town once again from March 3 – April 9, 2023! The Fair will be located across from the Georgia State Stadium, in the lot at the intersection of Central Ave SW and Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. Fairgoers are welcomed to kick off the spring season with classic carnival games, mouth-watering fair food, rip-roaring thrill rides and gentler attractions for the youngest members of the family.

The 2023 Atlanta Fair will feature returning Midway attraction favorites, such as the Alien Abduction, Drop Tower and Scooter. The Himalaya also returns for another year of head spinning as the Expedition! This year, guests can enjoy thrilling new rides, including Time Warp, Backwards Swings and Kiddie Pirate Ship. No day at the Midway is complete without indulging in all-time fair classics and Deep Fried – new in 2023 – will serve up funnel cakes with all the toppings, deep fried Oreos, Snickers and Reese’s. The Atlanta Fair team is ready for another fun-filled season, bringing families a lively and entertaining experience this spring.
