TOP ATLANTA BRUNCH SPOTS

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 4/3/21

ATLANTA’S TOP BRUNCH SPOTS 2021

A pile of chicken sits perfectly atop a stack of warm waffles just waiting for a bit of maple syrup on top, beside it sits two beautiful poached eggs just waiting to run down the side of a smoked salmon benedict. And just like that, we are hooked on the savory, sweet, smoky, earthy flavors of brunch. We poured, dripped, sipped our way around Atlanta finding all the best brunch spots and came upon a good list of favorites. These top spots each have something unique and special that we want to share with you, so grab your stretchy pants and get ready to eat.

PEOPLE’S CHOICE! APRON AND LADLE – BISCUIT FRENCH TOAST

Brunch Goal: Biscuit French Toast. Nestled in a spot in Sandy Springs near the hustle and bustle of Roswell Road, Apron and Ladle is a brunch gem!  Hiding behind a strip mall store front, the cozy cafe-style restaurant, has a laid-back patio space where we enjoyed our Biscuit French Toast! It was brought as a surprise by our server, and we cannot thank her enough! It starts out sweet with heavy cinnamon notes, then bright and tangy fruit on top of the ooey, gooey goodness. It was hands down favorite by John and I both. On top of this delicious find, we also enjoyed the Spicy Fried Chicken Benedict to the flavorful Avocado, Bacon and Fried Green Tomato Biscuit, as well as the Thick Chicken and Waffles, they have a stout brunch line-up.

Apron and Ladle is located at 227 Sandy Springs Pl in Sandy Springs.

BISTRO NIKO – PORK BELLY

Brunch Goal: Pork Belly!  If you haven’t had Bistro Niko’s Chef’s Mustard Crusted Pork Belly you’re missing out! It’s easily our thing on the Bistro Niko menu. In love with the entirety of this dish, boasting bold mustard and red wine sauce drizzled over a juicy and tender pork belly. The crust is perfectly crunchy and paired with a runny egg for a bit of creaminess. Overall, it starts crunchy and savory and ends with a mustard and wine rich kick. We will be back for this one! If you’re looking for traditional or untraditional brunch fare, you can’t go wrong here, they have belgian waffles, brioche french toast, as well as a stellar steak tartare and champagne cocktails.

Bistro Niko is located in Buckhead at 3344 Peachtree Rd Ne.

BUTTERMILK KITCHEN – CHICKEN BISCUIT

Brunch Goal: Chicken Biscuit! The Chicken Biscuit has the perfect harmony of crispy and juicy chicken, buttery and fluffy biscuit, and tangy and slightly spicy jam.  It starts out crispy and savory with hints of butter juxtaposed to the spicy and sweet of the jam that kicks up the flavor. This was Liz’s favorite with all that sassy flavor! Our pro tip is to take some of the pickles they put on the side and add them to the sandwich. It adds some salt and tang! We also loved the Ray’s Waffle Burger, boozy chicken and waffles, savory grits bowl, and the tasty cornbread loaf.

Buttermilk Kitchen is located in Buckhead at 4225 Roswell Rd Ne.

CANOE – SMOKED SALMON

Brunch Goal: Smoked Salmon. What’s not to love about some tender salmon, crisp bagel, creamy cheese, and sharp onion? Canoe has a delightful starter, the House Smoked Salmon, that was every bit of this but elevated with a crispy potato cake, the salmon was absolute perfection slow smoked and tender, and the mix of cream cheese and goat cheese was the icing on the cake! Let’s dot it with some spicy onion and scallions and it’s one of the best little bites! Still can’t get over that crunch. We ended up eating the entire thing. Lick the plate? It’s a possibility. We also enjoyed cocktails, amazing scones, and a fantastic half chicken on a bed of cheddar grits.

Canoe is located on the Chattahoochee River at 4199 Paces Ferry Rd SE

CARSON KITCHEN – SPAM BENEDICT

Brunch Goal: Spam Benedict! With the perfectly cooked and meaty spam, topped with a savory egg and the right amount of cheese, it was an amazing bite. But you know what was the showstopper? The fried green tomato. It was perfectly crisp and ripe and instead of bread held the entire dish together. Just imagine a crispy, crunchy, and earthy tomato topped with pork spam perfectly pan fried and topped with sauce and a gooey, runny egg. Cut up all the ingredients and mix it up, bite. Heavenly. We also got a creamy avocado toast, savory oxtail hash, divine cocktails, and the chicken and waffles.

Carson Kitchen is located in Alpharetta at 4 S Main St.

THE CIGAR CELLAR – STEAK AND EGGS

Brunch goal: Steak and Eggs! This brunch staple was Liz’s favorite thing here because the steak was tender and perfectly cooked atop some sweet and spicy grits and potatoes for crunch. Off to the side the eggs were so well seasoned and savory. Pro tip: make sure to eat all ingredients in one bite: savory, spicy, sweet, crunchy. Beyond the steak and eggs, you can grab a cigar, an amazing Cellar Signature Smoked Old Fashioned, as well as tasty French toast, wonderful potatoes, and a delicious breakfast burger.

The Cigar Cellar is located in Kennesaw at 2500 Cobb Pkwy NW Suite B3.

CORNER CAFÉ – SMOKED SALMON BENEDICT

Brunch goal: Smoked Salmon Benedict! THIS is how you benny. Boasting smoked salmon atop a potato cake and smothered in egg and sauce, it almost like a lox bagel and Benedict combined into one dish! With the salty and savory salmon pairing with the savory egg, onion of the hollandaise, and the creaminess of the potato it was one tasty number. A must try when you go to Corner Café. Plus, they have a dynamic chicken and waffles as well as warm and sweet Bananas Fosters Pancakes, and a Prosecco Sunrise to wash it all down.

Corner Café is located in Buckhead at 3070 Piedmont Rd Ne.

GRANA ATL – EGGS IN PURGATORY

Brunch Goal: Eggs in Purgatory! They’re two perfectly over-medium eggs in a pool of hearty and chunky marinara, chocked full of onions, salty anchovies, sharp Parmesan and chili for a little kick at the end. It was the culmination of a variety of perfectly paired flavors that explode with each bite. Get everything on top of the crispy toast for the best bite. Must try. Pat also has a delicious cornmeal-ricotta pancakes and a stellar cocktail list beyond the Eggs in Purgatory. Plus, you HAVE to get the meatball flight. It’s a must.

JOY CAFÉ – SOUR CREAM POUND CAKE FRENCH TOAST

Brunch Goal: Sour Cream Pound Cake French Toast! Joy Café in midtown puts the joy in brunch, that’s for sure! The second the French toast beautify arrives at the table you’re in love, gorgeous outside, while simply divine inside! It’s dessert for breakfast! Sweet and very thick pound cake-like toast with a good amount of crunch on the edges. Topped with cool and fluffy whipped cream and berries for an essential tang to round out the bite. Love the raspberry and chocolate sauces that sit around the bottom. Make sure to get all the berries, cake and sauce in one big bite. Divine. Best French toast so far! They also have a tasty chilaquiles, amazing chicken and waffles, and a huge breakfast biscuit! Everything they have is delicious!

LIVE AT THE BATTERY, SPORTS AND SOCIAL – AVOCADO TOAST with side of BOOZY CEREAL

Brunch goal: Avocado Toast! This fresh avocado toast starts out creamy and smooth then comes in the crunch of the toast and the perfect seasoning balances all the ingredients. It’s just avocado toast perfection. We also can’t say enough about how fun their Boozy Cereal where you pick your cereal and booze. It’s so unique. Think of this more as a cocktail! We also enjoyed the chicken and waffles and country poutine.

MAC’S CHOP HOUSE –LAZY SUSAN & CHICKEN AND WAFFLES

Brunch Goal: Lazy Susan & Chicken and Waffles! It was a hodgepodge of delicious brunch items like a salmon bagel, creamy and cheesy grits, all the brunch meats you can imagine, a slice of dreamy crème brulee French Toast, a waffle, crispy potatoes, and scrambled eggs. It doesn’t get any more complete than this really as you get a good bit of everything on the menu. The favorites from the sampler had to be the amazing cheesy, tart, and creamy grits, along with the perfectly cooked and thick crème brulee French toast slathered in maple syrup, and the little salmon bagel.  Remember to bring your appetite, you’ll need it for this one. We had to include the chicken and waffles because they were John’s favorite. Crispy and tender chicken topped with candied bacon, and atop a crispy and warm waffle. Drizzle maple syrup in for the best bite. All the flavors! We also tried a savory pork belly appetizer, tasty eggs benedict, and the wonderful Thai Affair cocktail.

Mac’s Chop House is located on the Marietta Square at 19 N Park Sq NE

MCRAYS TAVERN SMYRNA – SOUTHERN BENEDICT

Brunch goal: Southern Benedict. It’s a brunch favorite with a southern flare! Poached eggs perched atop a bed of perfectly smoked and meaty pulled pork and topped with a barbecue-forward sauce. On it’s own it’s delicious, but put some of the well-seasoned potatoes and vibrant salad and you’ve got something special. They also have a great French toast and delicious chicken and waffles.

McCray’s Tavern Smyrna is located at 4500 W Village Pl SE

MILKDROP BISCUITS – GOLDEN ARCHES

Brunch Goal: Golden Arches!  This one has this crazy good, smoky bacon that pairs PERFECTLY with the soft and buttery biscuit, sharp cheese, and creamy egg. It’s smoky with hints of butter, sharpness, and savory egg and Chef Vizethann told us that bacon fat is on the biscuit. Must try. AND we got two of them!!! We also got the savory Not Your Momma’s Sausage and spicy Hot’Lanta Biscuit.

Milkdrop Biscuits is a pop-up located at 4209 Roswell Rd.

Website: Milkdrop Biscuits

OCEAN AND ACRE –BREAKFAST POLENTA BOWL

Brunch Goal: Breakfast Polenta Bowl. It is like a grits bowl, only more like mashed potatoes texture filled with bacon, ragu (tomatoes and mushrooms), and two poached eggs. Think a mixed-up, eggs, bacon, and grits dish but ELEVATED with polenta and the tart of the ragu. And here’s our tip: play with your food! The bacon is on the top and you can use it as a scoop to get all the polenta, egg, and ragu into one bite. The bacon adds a salt element to the creamy and savory of the other ingredients. What something even more playful? Eat the polenta with the steak and eggs. Wowza! We also enjoyed the steak and eggs, divine dutch pancake, and sipped on some cocktails.

Ocean and Acre is located in Halcyon at 6290 Halcyon Way #620

STK – TRUFFLE STEAK AND EGGS

Brunch Goal: Truffle Steak and Eggs! Brunching around Atlanta has taught us to ALWAYS save room for steak! STK Atlanta has just the dish to hit that spot, Truffle Steak and Eggs. The phenomenal wagyu flatiron has the right balance of juicy tender steak and earthy, rustic truffle. Whatever temperature you like this will turn out JUST right. It was paired with a poached egg in a hole, which was buttery and savory, and crispy and hearty potato straws that gave the whole dish a well-rounded crunch. Delicious! We also got the BEST tuna tartare, we’ve ever had, tasty Pork Belly Benedict, and savory Hot Chicken and Waffles.

STK is located in Midtown at 1075 Peachtree St. NE

TWO URBAN LICKS – BISCUITS AND GRAVY

Brunch Goal: Biscuits and Gravy. Take us back to TWO for these! All the ingredients are piled high on a huge biscuit, the crispy and crunchy chicken is so tender, while the sausage gravy is rich, creamy, and savory. This great bite is best enjoyed with all the ingredients in one bite. Don’t forget the well-seasoned and crisp potatoes! We also got a stellar brisket and eggs, crunchy catfish and grits, their staple salmon chips, tasty turkey wings, great cocktails, and THE BEST peanut butter pie ever.

TWO Urban Licks is located on the Beltline at 820 Ralph McGill Blvd NE

THE WHISKEY PROJECT – MAPLE BACON OLD FASHIONED

Brunch goal: Maple Bacon Old Fashioned! When we think of Old Fashioned, it’s just a bourbon staple drink that some of our other guy friends or their father’s drink. This will make you rethink the assumption, the Maple Bacon Old Fashioned is a miracle cocktail marring bourbon, maple, lemon, and candied bacon on top. They take a drink torch and char the bacon in front of you. But you have to eat the bacon first and sip the cocktail at the same time, so the bacon grease doesn’t set into the drink itself. Insert fire emoji here. It was EN FUEGO with sweet and light char up front with a savory, maple, and boozy bourbon back end. Love, true love. We also enjoyed the tasty tartine, savory kalettes, sweet French toast, and loaded bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit.

The Whiskey Project is located near downtown Roswell at 45 Oak St.

THE WHITE BULL – COLD CHICKEN SANDWICH

Brunch Goal: Cold Chicken Sandwich. The waitress told us that her favorite menu item was the Cold Chicken Sandwich, and after her ooh and ahh-ing we were sold. It has to be good if she loves it that much? She was spot on, this practically perfect chicken sandwich in every way, has it all. The crisp of the fried chicken hits you on the front of the palate then the flavor changes and you get the creaminess of the mayo, the crunchy pickles, and the savory of the hearty bacon jam slathered on top. The flavor is so rich, deep, and complex that you don’t know what ingredient you like more. The combination of flavors is striking, and you will NOT be able to stop eating it! Needless to say, put this on your list too! They also have a stellar half chicken, a brunchy poutine, and tasty smoked trout, as well as burrata and beets.

The White Bull is located on the Decatur Square at 123 E Court Sq.

WOODWARD & PARK –CROQUE MADAME

Brunch Goals: Croque Madame Burger! Starting with tender and rich meat in the middle and expanding into crunchy and crusty toast and surrounded by tons of cheese and runny egg, this burger wasn’t much to look at really. One bite and you’re in love with the meatiness, richness of the bone marrow, creamy of the cheeses, and savory gooeyness of the egg. It begins with a crunch and ends with so much savor. Our tip is to get the egg all runny and let it sink in a little to the bread. Cannot stop thinking about it! We also got the savory Shakshuka and grits, handmade-in house English muffin with choice of meat (fried chicken), and an array of brunch cocktails!

Woodward & Park is located in Grant Park at 519 Memorial Dr Se, Unit 2B

Grana Atlanta: Meatball Heaven

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 7/21/20

On the busy corner in Piedmont Heights, Grana’s newly built restaurant is a shrine to the almighty meatball – and all things Italian. Herringbone floor, two large wood burning pizza ovens, sweeping lights, and impeccable décor, Grana has an impressively upscale dining room that pays homage to the Chef’s Italian Heritage. It’s a stunner. Heading up to the beach vibe rooftop bar and patio, you’re greeted with the neon sign that reminds you that this place will be known for it’s balls, meatballs that is. Mark our words, the best meatballs in Atlanta. Beyond this, sinful appetizers, array of unique pizza, fantastic pasta, summer sippers, and impeccable main dishes make up the fabric of the best new Italian restaurant in Atlanta. That’s amore. Let’s dig in.

We get it, dreaming of the perfect meatball was never in our realm of reality either. But here we are awestruck by the master meatball-teer.  We opted for the meatball flight which included Mommy’s, Nonna’s, Crisp Veal, Pork, Grana, and Brasstown Beef. All practically perfect in their own way, but our stand-out was the best meatball ever, Crispy Veal. Imagine biting into a crisp, crunchy shell and coming upon tender and mild veal, perfectly seasoned with a blend of spices, and topped with a dollop of spicy aioli. It has everything you’d want in a meatball: meaty, spicy, sweet, crunchy, earthy. Perfection if you ask us. Perusing the reset of the meatball wonders, we also really enjoyed the Brasstown Beef that boasts hearty and tender beef topped with immaculate black truffle jam(!) and gouda that rounds out the bite, bringing in a little earth and a little creaminess. All the flavors on this one!! Break up the meatball and mix in the truffle topping. WOW! As for the Pork with the whipped ricotta, it was also delicious, with a very mellow pork ball and the creaminess and earthiness of the ricotta cheese. Meaty and creamy. Nonna’s mixes the right amount of meatball with mustard seed for tart and a slight pop in the mouth. Then, on top of that the currants are sweet and tart. Cut the meatball up and mix in the toppings, yum! What feels like the original, just plain good Mommy’s that reminds you of something your grandma would make, perfect meatball, sauce, earthy basil. BAM! Finally, The Grana is a simple, yet delicious meatball that is a good mix of sage and meat, perfectly balanced. Be honest, if you could have just one, what would it be?

Now that we’ve gotten you good and hungry, our Italian journey continues on the vendura and pasta. Something we would never think of getting was the wood roasted peppers. Pat sent them up for us to try and boy, what a treat. Slightly spicy of the pepper to the creamy of the whipped ricotta to the sweetness of the honey, mix it all up and you get a great all-around flavor! The most delightful surprise of the night was the Roasted Corn Vendura. Immaculately plated standing up with the stalks in the air, the corn is surrounded by a moat of lemon aioli, peppers, and Calabrian oils, it was visually and tastefully stunning. The crunchiness of the corn, the creaminess of the aioli and then comes the spice on the back end to kick you in the teeth. We’re in love with this dish because it gives you a little bit of everything and it’s so unique! After breathing a little fire, came our Pappardelle pasta. Oh. My. Goodness. Ragu is our love language. This Pappardelle pasta, which is thick and hearty, is perfectly cooked and fresh topped with rich pork ragu and sprinkled with hard mozzarella cheese. So meaty and rich, the ragu is the perfect combination with the heartiness and heft of the pasta, plus the right amount of spices. Top with that perfect amount of cheese and you’ve got a dynamite pasta that we will have to come back for seconds to get!

Next stop, pizza. We sampled the Roni, which was a mix of fresh cheese, crisp crust, pepperoni, honey and Calabrian chili combined inside curled up pepperoni. An everchanging collaboration of flavors that seep together to make one of the most unique flavored pizza’s we’ve ever had! Tip: horde the middle. All of the pepperoni goodness and honey, chili, all come together there. It’s the best bite. We’d like to mention that John really enjoyed the Roni. He said at one point that he couldn’t get over how good the pepperoni, honey, and cheese combination was and never would have thought he would love it so much.

Just when you think you can’t get a better meal, in comes the Wood Roasted Chicken. Having the Porchetta (WOWZER!) at the preview, we figured since our waitress recommended it, we’d give it a whirl. Good. Choice. Tender and fall off the bone roasted chicken in a blend of spices and mixed with peppers and surrounded by the sweet and spicy rosemary lemon sauce that elevates the chicken.  The best part was the fattier chicken thighs paired so well with the spiciness of the sauce and the peppers. If you have any leftovers, make a quick panini or sandwich with it the next day. Delicimo!

Full to the brim, now, while we sat on the patio and the rainstorm rolled in, we sipped on several cocktails, like the Lemonada, which was Liz’s favorite! It’s just a gin slushie with lemon Pellegrino! It’s simply refreshing and perfect for a hot day. They’re frozen cocktail changes every so often so you might go and get an Aperol Spritz slushie or even a Froze. Our favorite shaken cocktail was the Amalfly Coasting that is the right mix of Pellegrino pompelmo, gin, peychaud’s. It’s sippable heaven.

That evening as we left, a lone beam of light shown under the clouds. A glimpse of the sunset could be seen from the rooftop and we stopped to take it in. The perfect ending to a wonderful meal. It just proved to us that meatball heaven does exist.

TOP ATLANTA PATIOS 2020

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 6/3/20

Umbrellas are blossoming all over town so spring must have sprung! As you can imagine, here in Atlanta we have warm Spring weather and one way to truly enjoy the city is to take it all in on a Patio! Especially, this year being outside has been a game changer to the restaurant experience. We thought intently about our favorite spaces, patios, and outdoor dining destinations and came up with a carefully curated list of our top patios. We considered everything from type and range of views, bites, sips, and the little things in between. Are you ready for the patio lifestyle? Who do you want to see on the list? These are in no particular order.

Ray’s on the River’s Luxurious Lawn Party

We’re in love with Ray’s on the River. On a sunny day in late May, there was a light breeze over the Chattahoochee River and the intermittent clouds cooled down the late afternoon heat. Next to the river sits a beautifully landscaped lawn dotted with large patio umbrellas and a collection of tables, patio furniture, and a serene walkway with purple, red, and pink flowers. Ray’s on the River is the ultimate lawn party that reminds us of an all-day Kentucky Derby soiree with pretty dresses, upscale, sippable cocktails, and on-point tasty bites. They wooed us with their impeccable cocktail menu and service, plus you absolutely can’t beat that view. Being from Atlanta, why hadn’t we visited this wonderful, magical happy place before?

There isn’t a bad bite on this menu, but if we had to chose a recommendation we’d say the Ahi Tuna Poke would be our choice of appetizer because it’s so dynamic, and the Horseradish Black Grouper because it has it ALL. Plus, we mentioned their cocktail menu is perfection, can we recommend them all? If we MUST choose, we’ll go with the Vitamin Sea that reminds us of the beach, and the Fig Old Fashioned because being their most popular drink on the menu, we know why, it’s one of the best Old Fashioned we’ve ever sipped.

Ray’s on the River is located at 6700 Powers Ferry Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30339 and more information can be found at here.

Brews and Views a top New Realm Brewery’s Rooftop Patio

Directly off the Atlanta Beltline, New Realm Brewery is a beer and food lovers paradise with expansive patio, large beer list, and serious bar eats. Whether you settle yourself on the Beltline side patio, beer garden, or rooftop bar, you’ll have midtown Atlanta skyscraper views, an amazing amount of people watching, and a killer sunset views over the Atlanta Skyline. Beyond the view, you can relax with the New Realm Brewery’s latest and greatest brew and a hearty set of wings or a meaty pizza. Beer not your thing? They’ve introduced a line of fun seltzers like Cherry Cola and even distill their own liquor from vodka to bourbon!

Our recommendation is to at least try one of their beers, like Lime of the Party, and either the Cherry Cola Seltzer or cocktail. They have so many beer varieties and depending on your taste, they pretty much have something for everyone. Don’t forget the food here either. If you’re looking for bar food go with the Asian Loaded Fries or the Meathead Pizza. If you want something southern inspired, go for the Spanish Style Meatballs and the Beer Can Chicken. Really, you can’t go wrong with anything!

New Realm Brewery is located at 550 Somerset Terrace NE, Unit 101, Atlanta, GA  30306 and more information can be found here.

Riverside Relaxation and Romance at Canoe

Take a stroll with us through the grounds at Canoe. The quiet river flows by as the covered patio keeps you cool from the late Spring sun and the winding walkways meander around the lawn sending you down hidden paths, can you see it? Good. Located right on the Chattahoochee river near Vinings, Canoe is the perfect escape with a mix of gardens, patio space, ambiance, as well as top notch food and drinks. From the moment you enter Canoe, the staff and servers are there for you and make you feel right at home. Canoe, where have you been all our lives?

While you’re there, we’d recommend starting with the scones that are flaky and wonderful, while washing it down with our new favorite thing, a Sparkling Mule. You also must try the Smoke Salmon starter and the Smoked Chicken on a bed of silky grits. We’ve also heard that they make a mean Duck burger for brunch. Next time?

Canoe is located at 4199 Paces Ferry Rd, SE Atlanta, Ga 30339 and more information can be found here.

Ladybird’s full-service menu of elevated campfire cuisine and beverage program of craft cocktails, wine and local beer can be enjoyed on the outdoor patio overlooking the Grove. Michael Lennox, Founder of Electric Hospitality, is behind the restaurant and its sister spots Golden Eagle and Muchacho in Atlanta’s Reynoldstown neighborhood.

Beer Heaven at Wild Heaven West End’s Patio

Quickly you realize you have arrived at Beer Heaven when you step off the West-Side Beltline and are greeted with Wild Heaven West End Brewery and Gardens extensive patio. With tons of space, they have several places to sit and relax all along the lawn and the space even extends up to Boxcar ATL, ASW Exchange, and up into Monday Night Garage, who has some fun spaces of their own. So, you can stop by for a tasty brew, hard seltzer, wine, cocktail, and even a Whiskey Slushie and just relax after a long beltline walk or ride. We’d recommend grabbing a brew from Wild Heaven like one of the Happiest Hour Exploration Project Series that brought you Fauci Spring or our favorite, Zoom Fatigue Porter. Please don’t forget to pick up a snack, like our favorite taco in Atlanta, Walking Taco from their on-site Fina Fine Foods. Then, stay a while for a Whiskey Slushie like the strawberry lemonade from ASW Exchange or try one of Monday Night’s new Narwhal hard seltzers. Monday Night Garage also does a tasty stout if that’s your thing. HINT: It’s ours. If you’re feeling even more adventurous head over to Best End, they’re building a tiki bar on the beltline!!

9 Mile Station’s Sweeping Skyline Views on Ponce City’s Roof

You’re in for a treat up a-top Ponce City’s Roof from the moment you enter the elevator hearing about the rich past of the Ponce City Market’s history and then walk out onto the game-centric boardwalk. If you delve a little bit deeper, 9 Mile Station just beyond the boardwalk is the destination for spectacular skyline views of downtown and midtown Atlanta. Whether you sit on the covered patio, around the fire pit, or on the ledge seating, you can’t help but marvel at the stellar view. Being one of the IT spots to spend a sunset, let’s not forget the bites and sips that will compliment any occasion. We’d recommend you sip on one of their cocktails, like the One Way Ticket to Mars that was whiskey and wine (what!) to the Rose All Day 2.0 which was bubbly and refreshing or opt for a wide variety of beer and wine. Plus, their light bites are the perfect pairing to relax and watch the sunset, be it the delectable lemon pepper chicken wings to the beautifully plated, earthy, and crunchy smoked trout croquettes.

Beyond the beauty of the park and magnificent midtown views, Park Tavern also invites you to enjoy a cocktail, some upscale bar food, or maybe some sushi. Meatballs are a Must at Grana

On the busy corner near Rock Springs on piedmont, Grana’s newly erected rooftop bar and patio, as well as impressively upscale dining room pay homage to the Chef’s Italian heritage. It’s stunning. As you come around the corner from there, you immediately get a beach vibe with beautiful outside bar adorned with blue tile, lounge furniture, and partial cover to keep you out of the sun. Plus, we’re being told that they have spectacular sunset views. On top of the ambiance, they have stellar bites and sips. We’d recommend the best meatball ever, their Crispy Veal Meatball or one of their array of pizzas like the Roni that boasts of pepperoni and honey. Of the sips, let us recommend the Frozen Aperol Spritz. They sometimes will have Froze instead, but frozen sips are all the rage right now, so get this while you can.

All the Possibilities at “Patio Row” on the Beltline

For as a long time, Krog Street Market and Auburn was about the end of the Beltline, but then along came our friends at Hawkers, Nina and Rafi, Guac Y Margys, Pour, and more in a conglomerate of wonderful patio space, what we call Beltline Patio Row. What’s amazing about this little spot is the unlimited possibilities you can get by just hanging out here for an afternoon. You can start with some tacos and margaritas at Guac Y Margys to a good stout down at Pour Taproom to our favorite lettuce wraps at Hawkers to some delectable pizza at Nina and Rafi. It’s a smorgasbord of tastiness.

We reached out to Nina and Rafi since their one of the main go-to destinations the Beltine Patio Row and they wanted you to know, “Named one of Bon Appétit’s 50 Nominees List for Hot 10: America’s Best New Restaurants in 2019, Nina & Rafi is an Italian-American restaurant and bar from restaurateur and bar aficionado Billy Streck of Hampton + Hudson and Anthony Spina of O4W Pizza. Located in Old Fourth Ward on the Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside Trail, the restaurant features expansive steel-frame garage doors to offer patio seating on warm days. Nina & Rafi’s menu of Italian-American comfort food includes famed pizzas from Spina’s nationally renowned O4W Pizza, Italian snacks to start, salads, parmesan heroes, and Italian specialties – chicken parmesan and eggplant parmesan – available after 5pm. The “Meat Me in Detroit” pizza, a favorite among diners, was a “Best Dish” finalist in the 2019 Eater Awards. Curated by Beverage Director Corey Phillips, the bar offers craft and Italian beers on draft and in cans and bottles, as well as a selection of Italian wines – red, white, sparkling, orange, and rosé. A tight cocktail list rotates regularly, and the full bar features a very large selection of Amara and Italian spirits.”

On top of that, we love Hawkers and when you to see them on Patio Row, you should grab a lettuce wrap and definitely get one of their adult capri suns called, That’s My Bag Baby. You heard us, stick a straw in it and enjoy. Plus, we know John who owns Pour Taproom, and we love that you can get lost for hours in the beer offerings that the pour-your-own-beer store has, as well as wines and cocktails. It’s amazing how many stouts we’ve discovered there, from Monday Night down the street to IPAs from across the country.

This row is located off the Beltline at 661 Auburn Ave, Atlanta, Ga 30312.
