SUMMERHILL CELEBRATES THE BRAVES FIRST GAME AND DELIVERS FUN EVENTS PLUS FOOD FEATURES THIS MARCH

Atlanta Neighborhood Presents a Month-Long Showcase of Diverse Dining Options and Exciting Events

 Summerhill, the vibrant Atlanta neighborhood known for its eclectic dining and shopping scene, invites locals and visitors alike to take advantage of a variety of special offerings and events in March. From inventive brews to new dishes, Summerhill’s restaurants offer a diverse array of flavors to satisfy every palate.

Plus, on Thursday, March 28th at 3:00pm, Summerhill is hosting the ultimate Braves Opening Day Block Party! Celebrate the start of the Braves’ season as they face off against the Phillies away in Philadelphia. This year marks the 50th anniversary of Hank Aaron’s historic 715th home run, and Summerhill is commemorating it by bringing the Atlanta celebration back to where it all began. Experience the excitement with activations at Wood’s Chapel, Halfway Crooks, and BOCA, featuring game screens, Braves appearances, live radio broadcasts from 680 The Fan, DJs, photo ops, chalk art, family-friendly activities, and more!

Other cool things happening in Summerhill this month:

  • Big Softie: Big Softie indulges those with a sweet tooth with its vegan oat chocolate soft serve. When paired with an innovative Cheez-It brittle topping, this irresistible treat satisfies both sweet and salty cravings.
  • BOCA: Spice up the week with Taco Tuesdays and Thirsty Thursdays at BOCA, where $4 tacos and $7 margaritas await. Now open on Mondays and with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays, there’s even more time to enjoy the eatery’s mouthwatering Mexican cuisine.
  • Halfway Crooks: Guests can quench thirsts and delight taste buds at Halfway Crooks, where every week brings a new reason to celebrate. Mark calendars for the Kolsch Fest on March 23-24, featuring the release of Farina, a refreshing brew perfect for the spring season. Kolsch’s Fun Run 5K kicks off the festival with energy and excitement.
  • Hero Doughnuts & Buns: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in style with Hero Doughnuts & Buns’ themed treats, guaranteed to add a touch of luck to the day.
  • How Crispy: Guests can get in touch with nature at How Crispy’s plant swap on March 23, while trading greenery gardening talk with fellow enthusiasts.
  • Junior’s: Junior’s March special, From Husk Till Dawn pizza, is available in regular, vegetarian, and vegan options. For an evening of fun and brain-teasing challenges, guests will not want to miss math-themed trivia night on March 14, hosted by Agnes Scott College.
  • La Belle Nail Bar: This new nail salon is now open for business and ready to provide expert manicures, pedicures, gel treatments and more.
  • Little Bear: Little Bear invites guests to embark on a culinary journey with its Dive Winebar pop-up on March 25. This family-style meal curated by Dive, complete with optional wine pairings, is a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
  • Little Tart: Savor the unique blend of flavors at Little Tart, where the Black Honey IPA Caturra from Flow Coffee takes center stage. Whether guests prefer it iced or hot, this pour-over delights with notes of black tea and lemongrass, making it the perfect companion for any weather.
  • Press Shop: Thursday, March 14 brings a showcase with local artist Truett Dietz from 6-8 p.m. Guests will enjoy wine while taking in the beautiful artwork. On Saturday, March 16, Meghan from SNH Linked is hosting a permanent jewelry pop-up, a trend where jewelers weld (zap) gold, gold-plated, and/or sterling silver chain-linked jewelry onto the wearers. Rings, bracelets, anklets and necklaces will be available for purchase. Among the monthly recurring events are Story Time for the little ones every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.; Golden Hours every Friday from 6-7 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. with $10 wine flights (three pours); Book Club on March 27 (the last Wednesday of each month) from 7-9 p.m. with wine flights. The book for March is “Piglet” by Lottie Hazell; and Knitting Circle on March 28 (the last Thursday of the month) from 7-9 p.m. This is a space where the community can get together, bring their own projects and receive or give help to other attendees, regardless of skill level.
  • Southern National: Guests can experience the taste of the South at Southern National, where culinary craftsmanship meets Southern charm. From zaatar-spiced bok choy to coffee-rubbed grilled pork loin, each dish is a testament to the rich culinary heritage of the region.

CITY WINERY ATLANTA MARCH EVENTS 2020 – CLOSED UFN

Shamrockin’ Patio Party, Women in Wine, Books & Booze, City Wine Explorer, and More

City Winery, the restaurant, urban winery, private event space, and intimate music venue, has released its March lineup of culinary and beverage events at the popular Atlanta location in Ponce City Market. Atlantans and visitors alike can take advantage of an array of mouthwatering opportunities including plenty of wine sampling opportunities to enjoy on the beginning days of spring.
On Sunday, March 8th, Atlanta can visit City Winery for Atlanta Science Festival’s Science of Wine. Winemaker James Brim will lead a private, seated wine class. After a brief introduction to wine tasting, guests will learn learn about vineyard biology and the science behind the winemaking process. The class will finish with a dessert wine followed by an interactive Q&A session.

Starts at 2 p.m. Tickets are sold out. 
City Winery Celebrates Women in Wine on Sunday, March 8th for International Women’s Day with a party on the patio featuring women-owned wineries and winemakers, as well as women working in the business of wine. There will be over fifteen wines to sample, as well as signature cocktails. Women in Wine will be hosted by Bianca Anderson, Wine Captain at City Winery and one of the founders of The Urban Wine Collective.

American Airlines First Class International Pairing Series takes place at City Winery on Wednesday, March 11th. American offers nonstop daily service to Milan, Venice, and Rome, all of which brings guests closer to the great wines and foods of Italy. There are a plethora of Italian varietals and styles that have rich histories to navigate. Chef Vawanda Richardson will create a four-course menu with wines from the throughout the region.

Starts at 7 p.m. Tickets $65 plus applicable fees. 

On Thursday, March 12th, City Winery hosts City Winery Explorer, Tuscany & Central Italy. Several wines and regions will be explored, including villages along the Tuscan Coast, Montepulciano, and Umbria. Guests will enjoy over twelve wines from various regions. Chef Vawanda Richardson will prepared light fare served buffet-style as well as a regional selection of meats and cheeses.

Starts 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 plus applicable fees.

On Tuesday, March 17th, Ponce City Market’s Posman Books and City Winery team up to host Books & Booze. This month’s book discussion is about The Water Cure by Sophie Mackintosh.
Starts at 7 p.m. RSVP $10 plus applicable fees. 

Credited with beginning the Farm to Table Movement and as one of the initial proponents of the Slow Food Movement, Alice Waters has had an undeniable influence on the American culinary scene. On Saturday, March 21st, City Winery presents their tribute, A Celebration of Culinary Artisans featuring Alice Waters’ “Recipes from Chef Panisse”.

City Winery Scout Cookies & Wine Pairing, a fun and whimsical pairing of wine and cookies, takes place on Thursday, March 26th.

THE BATTERY ATLANTA SERVES UP MARCH EVENTS 2020

Atlantans will feel particularly lucky at The Battery Atlanta this spring! The destination’s chef-driven restaurants are serving up can’t-miss specials this March – from nights that kids eat free to daily deals on adult beverages to late night bites, the one-stop destination offers a diverse table of tastes. Throughout the month, restaurants and retailers are preparing for the arrival of spring with floral fun and shamrock shenanigans. Visitors can mark their calendars for events at Live! at the Battery, Sugarboo & Co. and more. Plus, March Madness fans can plan ahead to visit Punch Bowl Social, Yard House and Live! at the Battery for access to the big screens.

The Battery Atlanta Cornhole Spring League
Every Tuesday at 6 p.m.
A tailgate favorite is now a league of its own! Spectators are encouraged to watch the action and cheer on league participants as they play games leading up to the season’s final tournament. League winners will receive a championship trophy and other prizes.

Wellness Series: Yoga
Every Monday, from 6:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m.
Start the week off stress-free at an outdoor yoga class presented by Kaiser Permanente. As part of the Wellness Series at The Battery Atlanta, this free event is open to all ages to relax and unwind on the Plaza Green. Participants are required to bring a mat and encouraged to bring water.
