SHUCKED TO PLAY AT THE FOX THEATRE MAY 20 – 25

Regions Bank Broadway in Atlanta is pleased to announce that tickets for Shucked, the Tony Award® winning musical comedy The Wall Street Journal calls “flat out hilarious,” will go on sale Friday, March 7 for performances May 20 – 25. Tickets are available at the Fox Theatre box office at 660 Peachtree Street NE, by visiting foxtheatre.org/Shucked or by calling 855-285-8499. Group orders of 10 or more may be placed by contacting sales@foxtheatre.org.

Shucked will play for a one-week limited engagement in Atlanta as part of the Regions Bank Broadway in Atlanta 2024/2025 season from May 20 – 25. The performance schedule is as follows:

Shucked features a “superb book” (New York Post) by Tony Award winner Robert Horn, a score filled with “earworm songs” (The Daily Beast) by Grammy Award winners, Tony Award nominees and Nashville music superstars Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, and direction with “an infectious spirit of glee and warmth” (Variety) by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien.

The cast includes Miki Abraham (Shucked on Broadway) as Lulu, Tyler Joseph Ellis (“The Sex Lives of College Girls”) as Storyteller 2, Maya Lagerstam (The Gospel According to Heather) as Storyteller 1, Mike Nappi (Darling Grenadine) as Peanut, Jake Odmark (Kinky Boots) as Beau, Quinn VanAntwerp (Shucked on Broadway) as Gordy and Danielle Wade (“Cady” in the Mean Girls National Tour) as Maizy.

The cast also includes Zakiya Baptiste, Mackenzie Bell, Carly Caviglia, Cecily Dionne Davis, Ryan Fitzgerald, Sean Casey Flanagan, Jackson Goad, Erick Pinnick, Nick Raynor, Celeste Rose, Kyle Sherman and Chani Wereley.

What do you get when you pair a semi-neurotic, New York comedy writer with two music superstars from Nashville? A hilarious and audacious farm-to-fable musical about the one thing Americans everywhere can’t get enough of: corn. Shucked is the new musical comedy that proves sometimes tearing down a few walls, rather than growing them, is the only way to preserve our way of life. Shucked is turning musical theater on its ear and is offering a kernel of hope for our divided nation.

With choreography by Sarah O’Gleby, and music supervision, music direction, orchestrations, and arrangements by 2023 Tony Award, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Award nominee Jason Howland, the design team for Shucked includes 2023 Tony Award nominee and Tony Award winner Scott Pask (scenic design), 2023 Drama Desk Award nominee Tilly Grimes (costume design), Tony Award nominee Japhy Weideman (lighting design), Tony Award winner and 2023 Drama Desk Award nominee John Shivers (sound design), Academy Award® winner and Emmy Award® winner Mia Neal (wig design), and Stephen Kopel, C12 Casting (casting director). Shucked is produced by Mike Bosner and Jason Owen.

Forsyth County’s premier mixed-use village invites the community to play, shop, dine and experience what’s new

Head to Halcyon next month for an exciting line-up of events in May. Kick off the month enjoying live music every weekend by local bands at Groovin’ on the Green; get your sweat on with fan-favorite Farm Animal Yoga; celebrate Mother’s Day and Cinco de Mayo; and take advantage of the spring weather by dining on one of the many outdoor patios at Halcyon’s restaurants. 

The full May events schedule is outlined below:

Groovin’ on the Green

Fridays and Saturdays in May from 6 – 9 p.m.

Celebrate the weekend by dancing and singing along to live musical performances on Village Green. Enjoy local bands across a variety of genres playing top hits. On the last Saturday of each month, Cherry Street Brewpub will host live music on its patio adjacent to Village Green. Guests can treat themselves to a craft brew and groove to live music playing all around the village! Halcyon has an open container policy, however outside food or beverages are prohibited. Halcyon Kids Club

Wednesdays through October from 10 a.m. – noon

Preschoolers are invited to play and make new friends at Halcyon’s free Kids Club! Enjoy rotating activities each week ranging from arts and crafts, dance, animal encounters, story time, puppet shows, music and so much more. Themes and activities vary each week and will be announced on Halcyon’s Facebook page and Instagram stories. A parent or guardian is required to stay with each child during the event. Cinco de Mayo Celebrations 

May 4 – May 5

Halcyon is the place to be for Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Whether you want to celebrate on Saturday, Sunday or all weekend long, here’s where you want to be:

Hobnob/Eclipse di Luna’s 2-Day Cinco de Mayo Celebration will take place in the Halcyon Garden Overlook behind Hobnob/Eclipse on May 4 from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. and May 5 from noon until close. The event will feature live music, Latin international DJs, food tents serving up giant paella, pig roast, tacos, adult snow cones and multiple bars offering Margaritas, Mojitos, Palomas, Cantaritos and more.

CT Cantina Taqueria’s Cinco de Mayo Street Party will take place in the Halcyon Event Lot on May 5 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Guests can enjoy a live DJ, mariachi band and face painting. CT will serve tacos, street corn, churros and ice-cold margaritas and beer.

Farm Animal Yoga

Saturday, May 11 at 10 and 11 a.m.

Mooove on over to Halcyon for Farm Animal Yoga, featuring live animals from North Georgia Wildlife Park! Treat your mind and body to a relaxing session of yoga appropriate for all skill levels, accompanied by adorable furry friends. Participants must bring their own yoga mat and are welcome to pause and take photos with the animals during the session. Mother’s Day at Halcyon

Sunday, May 12 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Come celebrate Mother’s Day at Halcyon with special events on Sunday, May 12 and all weekend long to celebrate the mother figure in your life. Moms and their families can enjoy Mother’s Day brunches at Halcyon’s restaurants, a permanent jewelry pop-up, live music, a special Mother’s Day photo backdrop, King of Pops and Southern Nut Truck Pop-ups, the Gussied Up Flower Truck and much more! Summer Kick-Off Party

Friday, May 31 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Head to Halcyon for a Summer Kick-off Party for the whole family. The blowout party to kick off Summer will be spread across the green space at Halcyon and Cherry Street. There will be games and prizes for kids, face painting, Don Q pouring samples, cotton candy characters, a dessert cart, live music and select adult and kids drinks from Cherry Street’s outdoor bar. Tot Spot returns to Atlantic Station with lots of fun activities for little ones. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, its friendly canine teams and the Atlanta Fire Rescue will be on-site to teach kids important safety tips while they have a blast. Guests can also enjoy free crafts, pre-packaged snacks and more! This event is designed for children ages five and under and is free to attend. Be sure to stop by for a chance to enter a giveaway, snag a trooper hat or badge and possibly see a firetruck!

Iconic entertainment destination soars into the unofficial start of summer with Farmer’s Market, Cinco de Mayo celebration, Mother’s Day brunches and more!

The Battery Atlanta has planned a May filled with fun for families and friends. Visitors can enjoy the free Farmer’s Market on the Plaza Green on select Sundays, and the new Taste of Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta Food Tours continue at Truist Park. Live! at The Battery Atlanta has lined up a Fiesta de Mayo celebration, and the eateries will once again host the fan-favorite UFC Fight Night. Select restaurants will also curate Mother’s Day brunches to celebrate moms and mother figures over a delicious meal. The music is nonstop at the Coca-Cola Roxy in May with performances from Sean Paul to Sum 41, and Park Bench is hosting the 2024 Make A Wish Country Jam! Returning restaurant promotions include Noche Tropical at El Super Pan and Sunday Supper at Garden & Gun Club.

Farmer’s Market by Kaiser Permanente
​Sunday, May 5 and May 12 from 1 – 4 p.m.
​The Farmer’s Market is back in season starting May 5. Local vendors will offer a variety of prepared foods, farm-fresh produce, artisanal bread and baked goods, wellness products and more. Additional activities include a petting zoo at every market and the Bark Market, the perfect place to buy a treat for furry friends. This free event is open to the public to shop local and spend a beautiful spring Sunday on the Plaza Green.

Wellness Series: Yoga by Kaiser Permanente

​The Yoga Series has arrived for spring! Yogis can kick off their Monday stress-free at an outdoor yoga class presented by Kaiser Permanente. As part of the Wellness Series at The Battery Atlanta, this free event is open to all ages to relax and unwind on the Plaza Green. Enjoy a month full of spring events at the West Midtown mixed-use destination

May is in full bloom at The Interlock with plenty of things to do to enjoy the warm weather. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with several specials and events from Velvet Taco, Guac Y Margys and Holiday Bar. Gather to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo, March for Babies & the Highly Anticipated Museum of Illusions Opening

Have no fear, May is here! With schools getting out and the weather heating up, we can’t wait to be outside all season long. This month, some of the city’s best happenings will take place at Atlantic Station, in addition to several kid-friendly programs, making Atlantic Station the place to be.

Halcyon invites the community to play, shop, dine and experience what’s new at the mixed-use village

April showers bring May flowers and that rings true at Halcyon, Forsyth County’s mixed-use village. To celebrate the warm weather, Halcyon is hosting a calendar full of events throughout May. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a margarita in hand at one of the many parties hosted by Halcyon restaurants. The Spring Artists Market returns with a variety of more than 55 talented artisans. Kick off the weekend at Halcyon singing and dancing along to live music at Groovin’ on the Green. The animals of North Georgia Wildlife Park are returning this month for Farm Animal Yoga on Village Green. This Mother’s Day, treat the mother figure in your life to a tasty brunch at one of the delicious eateries in the village. There’s plenty to do and something for everyone at Halcyon in May.

Wednesdays in May from 10 a.m. – noon

Preschoolers are invited to play and make new friends at Halcyon’s free Kids Club! Enjoy rotating activities each week ranging from arts and crafts, dance, animal encounters, story time, puppet shows, music and so much more. Themes and activities vary each week and will be announced on Halcyon’s Facebook page and Instagram stories. A parent or guardian is required to stay with each child during the event. The Hacker Run 5k & Dog Dash

Sunday, May 21 at 8:30 a.m.

The Hacker 5k and Dog Dash is held in memory of local community supporter Jeffrey Hacker, who passed away after completing a 5k race in June 2019. The community is invited to participate and bring their dogs to run or walk with them. Registered dogs will receive a custom race bandana and a finisher medal. Humans will receive a medal and a long sleeve tee. All dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations, on a leash of 6 feet or less in length and non-aggressive. Proceeds from the race will directly benefit the Humane Society of Forsyth County, an organization Jeffrey was a passionate supporter of.
