MARVELOUS 3 LIGHT UP CENTER STAGE, OCTOBER 13TH!

On Friday, October 3, 2025, Atlanta’s own Marvelous 3 took the stage at Center Stage Theater for a sold-out hometown show that felt like a long-overdue family reunion. The rock trio, frontman Butch Walker, bassist Jayce Fincher, and drummer Doug “Slug” Mitchell reunited in recent years after a hiatus, and their energy on this night was infectious. From the moment they started, the band radiated happiness, grinning ear-to-ear as they powered through a set packed with classics and newer hits.

The evening kicked off with opener Major, a fitting choice as the band’s lead guitarist is none other than Holden Fincher, Jayce’s son. Holden has been joining Marvelous 3 on the road as a fourth member, adding rhythm guitar and youth to the lineup. His seamless integration amplified the familial vibe. It made it a multi-generational rock affair.

Marvelous 3 wasted no time diving into their catalog, blending high-energy anthems with heartfelt moments that had the audience singing along word-for-word. The setlist, clocking in at 18 songs, was a masterclass in ’90s-inspired rock with a modern edge. They opened strong with “Little Head,” Walker’s charismatic voice cutting through the mix as the band locked into a tight groove. Off and on, Walker bantered with the crowd between songs, cracking jokes about Atlanta traffic and thanking fans for sticking with them through the years.

Mid-set, they dipped into fan favorites like “#27” and “Grant Park,” the latter a nod to Atlanta’s iconic green space that is tailor-made for this crowd Atlanta crowd. Followed by “You’re So Yesterday,” “Until You See” helmed by Holden, “Every Monday,” “Jackie and Tina” honoring both mothers in the crowd, and a heartfelt tribute to the unity of music, “Melt With You” cover of Modern English.

But, the biggest moment of the night was the pure mastery of “Freak of the Week.” It is their most well known, signature hit that exploded with energy. The crowd was so into it. Walker, Fincher, Mitchell, and young Holden looked ecstatic, hugging it out onstage as the final notes faded. It was a reminder of why Marvelous 3 endures—their music is fun, unpretentious, and delivered with genuine heart. They went on to also perform hits, “Sugarbuzz,” and encored with “Cigarette Lighter Love Song,” and “(There’s) Always Something There to Remind Me” with Butch in the crowd.

Fans leaving Center Stage buzzed about the band’s unbreakable spirit. In a world of polished rock, Marvelous 3’s raw happiness and family ties made this hometown show unforgettable. If this is what reunion tours can be, sign us up for more.

“George is about my two years in LA and my experience falling victim to my ‘middle-of-the-country-syndrome,’” says Jake. “It’s about being a martyr with nothing to die for and needing to fuck up some great things in order to see that.”

Recorded and produced between Los Angeles and Connecticut by Jake and Tony Berg (Taylor Swift, Boygenius) with contribution from Mason Stoops (Lizzy McAlpine, Role Model), George finds the 22-year-old storyteller exploring grief, guilt and identity through the complexities in his personal relationships. Titled after Jake’s birth name, George captures the angst and discomfort of growing up and leaving home with a disarming vulnerability that traces the album’s 12 tracks—including previously shared singles “Fingers and Clothes” and “Drawing a Tattoo,” released earlier this summer to critical acclaim.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Jake Minch burst onto the scene in 2023 with his hit single “handgun” racking up 1.3 million views on the song’s initial teaser and earning support from the likes of Noah Kahan, Lizzy McAlpine, Zach Bryan, Gracie Abrams, Fletcher and many more. Over the last few years, the 2for2 projects/Mercury Records artist has garnered a dedicated fanbase through his deeply personal lyrics on love, growing up and grief. Jake has toured the world over, sharing stages with the likes of The Head And The Heart, Jeremy Zucker, Ben Abraham, Holly Humberstone, Grace Enger and Sadie Jean. RIVAL ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS BIG NIGHT OUT FEAT. LAKE STREET DIVE & MARVELOUS 3

Hosted at the Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark, the Event is Part of a Series of Concerts Under the Stars in Public Spaces

Call off your dogs and grab your freak of the week because Big Night Out is back as a two-part story featuring Lake Street Dive and Marvelous 3, October 03 and 04 at the Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark. Presented by Atlanta festival producer Rival Entertainment, Big Night Out is a series of concerts under the stars in public places, which has included last year’s An Evening with CAKE, Big Boi, Futurebirds, Marcus King Trio, Moon Taxi, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, and others. 

Lake Street Dive, the genre-blending band with a sound described as “if the Beatles and Motown had a party,” will get the party started- headling night one. Hometown heroes Marvelous 3, who have recently enjoyed a resurgence and have recently played three sold-out nights at The Tabernacle to celebrate their 25th anniversary, will close out the festivities on night two. Additional details, including special guests, will be released soon.

Located at the Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark on the Atlanta Beltline Eastside Trail, which hosted last year’s near-capacity crowd, organizers are encouraging fans to take advantage of the proximity of the venue to several landmarks such as Inman Park (.3 miles), Ponce City Market (.5 miles), Krog Market (.6 miles), and Piedmont Park (1.2 miles). While the event will be walkable for many, there will also be a complimentary bicycle valet, ride-share drop-off locations, and nearby parking.

General Admission and VIP ticket options for Big Night Out will go on sale Friday, May 16, through Rival Entertainment at Big Night Out. Lake Street Dive has partnered with PLUS1, donating $1 per ticket to First Peoples Fund and their work supporting artists and culture bearers helping Native communities heal and thrive, and the PLUS1 LA Fires Fund, providing critical relief and long-term recovery support for individuals, families, and communities impacted by the devastating LA wildfires.  Big Night Out is an all-ages event. Free admission for children under seven with a ticketed adult.

On November 22nd, join us at The Vinyl Room inside Center Stage for the Bow Tied Bash, the ultimate date night dance party for couples! Presented by Completely Celebrated, this event is designed for couples looking for a fun-filled, memorable night without the late-night drag. ALIEN ANT FARM X DRIVEWAYS

What’s your MANTRA? John and I headed to Center Stage Atlanta, The Loft, to see Alient Ant Farm and Driveways show on 5/18/24! We are very familiar with Alien Ant Farm out of Riverside, CA, a rock band that started in 1996 and hit it big with their cover “Smooth Criminal” and other greats like “Movies” in 2001 on album, ANThology*! We still watch these videos on YouTube today!  

Their sound is considered nu metal, a blend of alternative, post-grunge, pop punk, and metal all rolled into one sound that pays homage to several genres. Did you know some of their influences are Faith No More and Primus? The band is very interactive and interacts with the crowd most of the concert. Like, Dryden Mitchell, coming to the gate and talking or having us sing along to even stopping the music to address a guy giving him the bird. It was fun to watch!  

But, this tour is to introduce and promote their new Album Mantras. Their new single that is out is called “So Cold” and still has the same feel as their other rock songs.  

Driveways is a newer band that we were not familiar with before the show. They are out of Massachusetts starting in 2015 and are considered a pop punk, post-hardcore band with a mix of genres. Most notable is the Blink-182 influence that comes through with many of their songs*. A fun fact we found on Everybody wiki is that in April 2020, their album Night Terrors was named on Alternative Press’ list of 20 Underrated Pop Punk Albums from the 2010s. They had a large following of fans at the concert!

Atlanta festival producer Rival Entertainment has announced an Evening with CAKE September 28 at the Historic Fourth Ward Skatepark. Self-described as Hank Williams Sr. and Sly Stone having a party and playing  AC/DC records backward, CAKE is better known as the antithesis of grunge behind the half-singing/half-speaking lyrics of lead John McCrea, trumpeter Vince DiFiore, guitarist San McCurdy, bassist Daniel McCallum, and drummer Todd Roper. Hits such as “Rock’ n’ Roll Lifestyle,” “The Distance,” the Gloria Gaynor disco classic “I Will Survive,” “Short Skirt/Long Jacket,” and others have fueled the platinum-selling rock outfit past the grunge era to a new wave of fans.

The evening is being presented under Rival Entertainment’s Big Night Out brand- a series of concerts under the stars in public places, which hints at similar events in the future from the acclaimed live event producer. The Two-Day Event Will Take Place at Pullman Yards and is Presented by Pabst Blue Ribbon, The Georgia Hemp Company, Código 1530 Tequila, and Bulleit Frontier Whiskey

After teasing that a new festival was on the horizon, Atlanta festival producer Rival Entertainment and Athens, Georgia rock juggernaut Futurebirds have announced full details on Highball – a festival experience at the historic Pullman Yards, October 21 and 22, 2023. Curated by Futurebirds, the inaugural two-day festival experience will feature notable artist performances, locally renowned food purveyors, and a distinctive live experience alongside the railroad tracks of Pullman Yards. Handpicked by the indie rock mainstays, the lineup will feature headliners Band of Horses and The Head and the Heart, preceded by daily sets by Futurebirds. Additional support will include performances by Wednesday; a special reunion by The Whigs; Seratones; S.G. Goodman; T. Hardy Morris, and Hotel Fiction. Highball represents a culmination of collaborative efforts two years in the making by Rival Entertainment and Futurebirds, which were drawn to the beauty of Pullman Yards’ historic setting.”It’s a wild wild dream to have the chance to help curate a festival bill, full of some of our favorite bands and best friends, in our home state, not far from where a handful of us grew up and experienced live music for the first time,” says Futurebirds’ guitarist and singer Carter King. “It’s a full-circle experience, and we are extremely grateful for the opportunity. Highball will be debuting two new event areas of Pullman Yards- previously not experienced, with the stage set on the rail yard’s original transfer table. Guests will enjoy access to General Admission & VIP lounges within the newly renovated “Building 6,” a historic machine shop for The Pullman Company circa 1927. Also, The Georgia Hemp Company will be hosting a daily “High There, Highball” media meet-up featuring select items from their fantastic line, libations, and gift bags. Do a deep dive into Futurebirds’ curated lineup (all chosen because they inspired or have been inspired by the band), and there are a lot of angles to work with. Be it Charity Rose Thielen of The Head and The Heart given a behind-the-scenes look into the early days of the band in Seattle, Band of Horses’ Ben Bridwell talking mental health on the road, or the constant tour grind of Hotel Fiction– there’s a lot to talk about. It will be a treat to experience them all in one place. 

LIVE MUSIC IS BACK IN ATLANTA WITH BIG NIGHT OUT 2020

Atlanta, GA – Live music is back in Atlanta, with the introduction of Big Night Out, a socially distanced concert experience at Centennial Olympic Park, October 23, 24, and 25, 2020. Presented by Rival Entertainment and in coordination with the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, the City’s first-of-its-kind event will feature: Moon Taxi and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, on Friday, Marcus King Trio and Futurebirds, on Saturday, and Big Boi & Friends, featuring KP the Great on Sunday.  Introducing the new norm for live events, fans will be able to get outside and dance within their private pod, which will be available for parties of four or six. A six-foot walkway will be between each pod to provide further distance.
Following the necessary mandates set forth with the introduction of COVID-19, live music was faced with the reality of “first to close, last to open.”  With Big Night Out, Rival Entertainment is introducing a safe and responsible way to enjoy music again. Following State of Georgia and CDC guidance on outdoor gatherings, the event will include health checks, facemask requirements, touch-point hand-wash and sanitation stations, and social distancing.
