February is all about spreading and sharing the love, and The Works has a variety of events planned throughout the month that are sure to prevent those winter blues! Put your knowledge and axe-throwing skills to the test at American Axes’ Trivi-Axe. Cheer on the winning team at the LVII Super Bowl watch party. THE ODDITIES AND CURIOSITIES EXPO VISITS ATLANTA

The Oddities and Curiosities Expo, the original traveling oddities event that hits major cities across the country and features 150+ oddity vendors and artists, is returning to Atlanta, Georgia and expanding to a two-day event on Saturday, February 11th and Sunday, February 12th.

The Oddities and Curiosities Expo draws people from all walks of life who enjoy the strange and unusual and the event offers something for everyone. Visitors will have the opportunity to browse and shop for a wide variety of rare and unusual items from local and national vendors including taxidermy, preserved animal specimens, original horror and Halloween-inspired artwork, antiques, handcrafted oddities, skulls, bones, and funeral collectibles.

In addition to the vast array of vendors, the expo will also feature photo ops, tarot reading, sideshow performers, and concessions.

“The Oddities and Curiosities Expo was created purely out of the excitement of bringing communities we care about together through events,” said Michelle Cozzaglio, who owns the expo with her husband, Tony. “Honestly, we had no idea it would turn into what it has today! Our goal has always been to uplift those around us while giving everyone, including ourselves, the opportunity to truly do what they love.”

The Cozzaglios have been taking The Oddities and Curiosities Expo on the road from coast to coast for the past six years after observing there was a market for this type of large scale event. Long-time collectors of oddities and obscure memorabilia themselves, the pair also own a record store and screen printing business, and operate punk festivals across the country.

Guests of The Oddities and Curiosities Expo are also able to purchase tickets to day-long taxidermy classes. Saturday students will learn to build their own full sized rabbit mount and Sunday students will learn to build a Kit Fox Head Mount.

In both classes, hosted by The Sleeping Sirens, students will work with sustainably sourced frozen animals to learn the basics of taxidermy and will be provided with a variety of tools and materials.

The Oddities and Curiosities Expo also hosts The Oddities Museum which will have their curated show “The Cryptic Collection of a Mad Clown”. The museum is a 1,600 square foot carnival sideshow reminiscent of big top attractions of the early 1900’s. For an additional $7 ($5 advance), guests can be taken back in time to an old carnival and gaze upon real and rare oddities.

It is important to note: All animals in the taxidermy class and other parts of the show – like preserved specimens – are sourced ethically and died of natural causes.

The Oddities and Curiosities Expo will take place Saturday, February 11th and Sunday, February 12th from 10am to 6pm at Atlanta Convention Center at America’s Mart located at 240 Peachtree Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30303.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door and children 12 and under are free. The event is all ages – however parents are advised to use their best judgment about if their children should attend.

The Full Rabbit Mount Taxidermy Class will be held on Saturday, February 11th and the Kit Fox Head Mount Taxidermy Class will be held on Sunday, February 12th. Both classes, hosted by Heather Clark of Sleeping Sirens Art & Oddities, take place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with breaks built-in for lunch and exploring the expo. Each class is $235, and is available to those aged 16 and up, or younger with parental approval. All materials and tools will be provided. Tickets for classes also include admission to the expo.

YOUR 3RD SPOT ATLANTA

Dirt was everywhere, a frame of a bar extended down the far wall, a bunch of lumber was piled in the middle of the space, the ceiling wasn’t painted, and the heat inside was sweltering. This was our first look at Your 3rd spot over the summer before their big Fall grand opening where the difference was day and night between then and now. Now, a large wood door opens into a sprawling game-scape where you’re greeted with a corn hole lawn and right behind it is a sweeping bar and above a terrace with a DJ space, curling court, and a great place to people watch. On top of all of this is a whole bowling alley, VIP areas, a gaming area for games like Skee-Ball and arcade games, large outdoor patio with lawn games, and EVEN a darts area. It’s a game lovers paradise. But just when you thought Your 3rd Spot was all about the gaming experience, they WOW with fantastic food and spectacular cocktail menu to elevate the overall experience! Y3S! 

Nothing helps our Skee-Ball game like a few cocktails. Your 3rd Spot has a terrific selection of cocktails like the tiki-inspired Jungle Smoke, smoky Lord Byron Blackberry Smoked Old Fashioned, and the bright Mai Tai. Cool it all down with the Jungle Smoke cocktail that is sweet and tangy from the pineapple, then a slight smoke flavor from the mezcal, and floral notes from the Demerara syrup. Pro tip: make sure to stir up the drink! If you love it fruity, you’ll love the Mai tai, served in an epic tiki glass. This DRAFT cocktail is one part passion fruit, orange, and sweet, and then one part boozy. Sippable and fun. But if you’re looking for something a little boozier, you’re in for a treat from the Lord Byron Blackberry Smoked Old Fashioned. It’s boozy with hints of berry and cinnamon up front with a slight smoke on the end. Plus, can’t decide on what you want? You can get all the draft cocktails in a flight! It comes out in a tower of glass and greenery. It’s pretty epic.  

After a vigorous motorcycle drive around the streets of Miami, a round of delectable shared plates hit the spot. Starting with two of our favorites, the first being the Slow Smoked Short Ribs are tender and meaty with a delicate smoke on the end. Then top with tangy, crispy onions and a tangy and sweet BBQ sauce that rounds out the savory meat. OR you can just dive into the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice plate. The savory of the tuna, spiciness of the jalapeño, the richness of the soy that balances the slight smoked and rounded out with creamy mayo. It’s a well-rounded bite!  

Moving on to the M3eatballs (yes, with a 3), they were a tender mix of pork, veal, and beef paired with a tangy marinara and a creamy, dreamy, polenta underneath. A wonderful piece of charred, buttery, crispy homemade focaccia is on the side. One of the most unique bites is the amazing Potato Torpedoes that are a bed of crispy skin potatoes wedges. On top is the creamy and rich devilled egg mousse and salty caviar/fish roe! It’s salty, crispy, crunchy, rich, creamy, and then there is that inevitable pop of the roe.  

The next shared plate was another winner, the Wagyu Beef Tartare! The beef tartare itself is tender and savory meat mixed with creamy mayo, a hint of tangy onion, and then surrounded by crunchy, tart pickled carrots. On top mustard seeds are the perfect crunchy and flavorful addition to the bite. Don’t forget to dip away with the spicy, puffed sushi rice for the best bite.  

For our final bite of our epic food journey was the Seared Peking Duck Breast. It is tender and flavorful duck with a sweet and savory sherry gastrique, tangy blood orange, crunchy nuts, all a top creamy leeks. It has so many great flavors so make sure to get everything in one big bite.  

After our meal, we enjoyed unlimited games where I dominated Skee-Ball with a score of 300(!) on one round and John found his favorite driving game and drove around multiple cities on a motorcycle.

ATLANTA: February 8, 2022: Due to popular demand, Harry Potter™: The Exhibition’s Atlanta run has been extended at 200 Peachtree in Downtown Atlanta. The exhibition will now close on April 16, 2023, giving more Wizarding World fans the chance to experience the magic.

Enthusiastic reactions to the exhibition have also been received from top media outlets including Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlanta Magazine, Atlanta News First, Paste Magazine, Muggle Net, WSB-TV, and more.

The iconic experience invites fans to experience the behind the scenes magic firsthand. As the exhibition heads into the closing weeks, visitors are encouraged to bring a friend on “Two For One Tuesdays,” a brand new ticket offering that gives guests a fantastic paired price for a limited time.

Harry Potter: The Exhibition Atlanta allows fans the chance to celebrate the wonder of the Harry Potter series as well as and the wider Wizarding World in this unique and interactive way. Upon check in, personalize your experience by picking your Hogwarts house, Patronus and favorite character wand and then earn points for your house throughout the adventure. The Blind Pig Parlour Bar Transforms into Valentine’s-Themed Bar for Festive Dates and Girls’ Nights Out

 The Blind Pig Parlour Bar once again transforms into The Blind Cupid now through the end of February. Guests will fall head over heels for this wildly popular pop-up experience that brings Valentine’s Day-themed sizzle with a menu of swoon-worthy drinks, decadent menu snacks and over-the-top pink and floral décor.

The Buckhead speakeasy, long known for its intimate, sophisticated vibe and The Blind Elf pop-up during the holidays, restyles its Victorian-era decor to woo hopeless romantics and the lovelorn alike. The Blind Cupid offers guests the perfect place to combat winter blues, whether they are searching for an entertaining girls’ night out, Galentine’s Day celebration or a unique date night. 

The food menu boasts a variety of small plates and desserts for sharing including:

  • Cremini and shiitake mushroom bruschetta with Boursin cheese ($15)
  • Crab bites with remoulade dipping sauce ($15)
  • Steak and chicken skewers (three for $15 and $12, respectively)

In January, The Blind Cupid will be open Wednesday-Sunday from 5 p.m. until late. Gypsy Kitchen transports guests to the Mediterranean for a culinary adventure this Valentine’s Day. The regular menu will not be offered. Reservations can be made online. Upstairs, Virtue Rooftop, the sexiest rooftop bar in Midtown, transforms into a Be My Valentine pop-up bar over Feb. 2-19. From 5 p.m. until late, guests will step into a world of romance boasting love-inspired cocktails perfect for couples or those embracing the single life; indulgent foods from sweet treats to personal fondue stations; and a rotating playlist guaranteed to set the mood. Be My Valentine pop-up is first come, first served for those 21 and older.

Livingston Restaurant + Bar, the Atlanta dining institution located inside the historic Georgian Terrace hotel, spreads the Valentine’s Day love over three evenings, Feb. 10 and 11 from 5-11 p.m. and Feb. 14 from 5-10 p.m. Executive chef Steven Meese has planned a prix fixe menu showcasing a mixture of local and European influences. Highlights include she-crab soup with sherry foam and chives; tuna crudo with ponzu, pickled cucumber and matcha crisp; filet and butter-poached lobster with saffron risotto and sugar snap peas; rack of lamb with pecan gremolata, farro, roasted winter vegetables and lamb jus; a special heart-shaped dessert and more. Poncey-Highland

Alpharetta/Johns Creek

Cattle Shed Wine & Steak Bar spreads the love with a variety of specials over Feb. 10-14. For starters, guests can splurge on caviar service boasting Osetra golden caviar with classic accoutrements and house-made blini ($130); add two glasses of Champagne for an additional $30. Oyster specials include four roasted West Coast oysters with Champagne foam ($17) and West Coast oysters with house mignonette and cocktail sauce (six for $19 or 12 for $35). Ocean & Acre is popping some bubbly and bringing on the seafood towers for an unforgettable Valentine’s Day. The Alpharetta eatery celebrating fare from land and sea is featuring its classic menu in addition to chef specials including pan-seared Chilean sea bass ($48), lemon rosemary rack of lamb ($52) and a surf and turf with a six-ounce center-cut filet and lobster tail ($45). Valentine’s celebrations begin early at all HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern locations. Three Parties, Great Eats, Anniversary Collaboration Beer Release, Giveaways and More

Festivities Kick Off on Monday, January 30, 2023

Good things come in threes so Ed and Kristen “Red” Sumpter, founders of Red’s Beer Garden, are celebrating the third anniversary of their local haunt with three beer-infused birthday parties and the release of a special anniversary collaboration beer with Elsewhere Brewing.


On Monday, January 30th, the festivities will kick off with an all-you-can-eat Three-Year Anniversary Dinner featuring a “mini snack attack” menu. From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., party goers can dig into a miniaturized assortment of Red’s favorites including crostinis, pulled pork sliders, smoked lemon pepper wet chicken wings, chicken salad bites, corn puppies, avocado crostinis, mini cupcakes, and pretzel bites with a (wait for it…) beer cheese fountain. Tickets are $55 per person and include a mini snack attack, an anniversary beer glass, and a 23 oz pour of BFFs: Beer Friends Forever, Red’s anniversary collaboration beer with Elsewhere Brewing. Tickets are for ages 21 and up and must be purchased in advance at www.redsbeergarden.com. 

Next up is Red’s Three-Year Bottle Share on Friday, February 3rd from 6 to 9 p.m. For $40 per person, beer lovers will be able to sample six to eight rare brews including sour, dark and Belgian offerings handpicked by go-to beer aficionado Kristen “Red” Sumpter. Guests can also talk it up with the experts from Liberator Distributing and get the latest scoop on all things beer in 2023.
