GENUINE PIZZA OPENS AT PHIPPS PLAZA

Genuine Pizza will open its first Atlanta location on January 5 at the main entrance of Phipps Plaza in the heart of Buckhead. Originating in Miami, where they have four locations, James Beard Award winning-chef Michael Schwartz’s casual pizza restaurant is built on honest ingredients, creative toppings combinations, and a thoughtful experience from dough to table. Genuine Pizza’s menu is anchored by 12 hand-formed pizzas featuring a tender, quick-fired crust and snacks, soups, salads, entrées and dessert to make a meal around it. The restaurant also offers a list of wines that work great with food, as well as Atlanta craft beers. Signature items include Short Rib Pizza; Polenta Fries with spicy ketchup; Warm Brussels Sprouts and Burrata; and Chocolate Chunk Cookie, warmed in the oven to order. Every day there is a Daily pizza special and a soup of the day.

Second Self Triforce IPA Release Party Plus Scavenger Hunt

Atlanta brewery Second Self Beer Company will release Triforce (6.1% ABV, 45 IBU), a slightly hazy IPA inspired by the iconic video game series “The Legend of Zelda,” next month. Brewed to embody the sacred relic’s three pieces: power, courage, and wisdom. Triforce is a slightly hazy IPA brewed with the triforce of malts (oats, wheat and barley) and hops (Mosaic, Amarillo, and Cascade). These combine to create a unique IPA that has the aroma and flavor of papaya, mango, and other tropical fruits; with a soft, flavorful mouthfeel to balance this truly inspired beer. Suggested pairings for the beer include tacos, barbecue, fresh vegetables, ceviche, fromage blanc, and magical potions. The graphic label plays on the classic game and was designed by artist Keith P. Rein, who also created the popular artwork for Second Self’s limited-edition beer: Manic Pixie Dream Beer #1.To celebrate Triforce’s release, Second Self will be challenging friends to a Hyrule-inspired scavenger hunt around Atlanta. Participants will search the city for items from the classic game at participating bars and restaurants, and winners who collect each one will win different prizes at the brewery’s taproom located in West Midtown. To kick off the scavenger hunt, Second Self will host a release party on January 13th with Zelda games, a costume contest, Triforce-tacos from Real Mexican Vittles, and clues for the scavenger hunt. Guests in costume for the release will receive a free pint of new beer. The winner of the hunt will go home with an awesome prize pack. Second Self has also organized a quest around Atlanta, and fans are encouraged to find missing items at select bars, restaurants, and stores to win free merch and beer. The map and compass required for participation can be picked up during the release party
