THE CELEBRATED ATLANTA FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL TASTING TENTS RETURN MAY 31 – JUNE 3 JOIN US FOR AN ALL-YOU-CAN-INDULGE SOUTHERN FOOD AND DRINK EXPERIENCE

 

Atlanta Food & Wine Festival, the country’s most popular Southern epicurean weekend, is only weeks away and its celebrated Tasting Tents will once again take guests on an epic journey through the best flavors of the South from Texas to D.C.

 

Not the typical Festival tasting experience, the AF&WF Tasting Tents are an all-you-can-indulge experience that allows guests the opportunity to eat, drink and explore the region’s top food and drink products and chef creations while also celebrating the international influences that have shaped our region. Piedmont Park’s Greensward Promenade will once again provide the perfect backdrop for the Tasting Tents, which will take place during the evening on Friday, June 1 and Saturday, June 2 and in the afternoon on Sunday, June 3.

 

The 2018 Tasting Tents will include 94 food and beverage exhibitor booths featuring 27 food producers, 70 wine brands, 80 spirit brands, and 64 beer brands and a rotating line-up of 35 different chefs each day. Highlights of the Tents include a cocktail garden, a Connoisseur Tent, and a newly added Southern Marketplace featuring favorite artisan goods and housewares. Some of the themes for this year’s Tents include Improbable Pairs, an exploration of unexpected wine, beer, cocktail and food pairings; Palate Pleasers, a flavor-driven sampling experience; and Ingredient Spotlight, a showcase of the region’s quintessential ingredients.  The Tents will also feature Wine Riot, a sister event to the Festival that will debut in Atlanta this fall.

 

“We have as much fun creating the Tasting Tent experience as the guests do indulging their way through it,” said Festival CoFounder Elizabeth Feichter. “It is so exciting to see the region’s best talent come together to curate such a memorable event for Festival-goers.”

 

The 2018 Tasting Tents are scheduled from 7:30 – 10:30 pm on Friday, June 1 and from 6:30 – 9:30 pm on Saturday, June 2. Sunday’s Tasting Tent session will round out the weekend from 1:30 – 4:30 pm on June 3.

Event to feature Picnic Baskets curated by local chefs, as well as beer, wine, music, and games

On May 6, 2018, some of Atlanta’s favorite chefs and restaurants will fill the picnic baskets for Wholesome Wave Georgia’s (WWG) annual Picnic in the Park. Guests will receive a blanket and a picnic basket with a 3-course, chef-crafted lunch, including: ham biscuits from Wrecking Bar Brewpub, roast chicken salad from Richards’ Southern Fried, pasta salad with mushrooms and truffles from Muss and Turner, veggie tamales from El Ponce, strawberry thumbprint cookies from Zeb Stevenson, multigrain rolls from General Muir, chips from Farm Burger, gelato from Honeysuckle Gelato, and more. Guests will also enjoy beer and wine, live music, and lawn games against the beautiful backdrop of Atlanta’s Historic Fourth Ward Park.

Picnic in the Park, a sold-out event last year, is perfect for families, couples, an early Mother’s Day outing, or a girls’ day out to relax with good food, good friends, and a good cause. Tickets are $35 for a two-person picnic basket and $70 for a four-person basket. Beer and wine open bar tickets are an additional $5 per person. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items from local Atlanta businesses like New Realm Brewing, 1,000 Faces Coffee, Spotted Trotter, Fresh Harvest, Sacred Thread Yoga, Georgia State Athletics, Georgia Tech Athletics, and so much more.

All proceeds benefit Wholesome Wave Georgia’s two core programs: Georgia Fresh for Less (GF4L) and the Fruit & Vegetable Prescription Program® (FVRx). Georgia Fresh for Less matches FNA benefits spent at local farmers markets, dollar for dollar, resulting in healthier communities for those with the greatest nutritional needs. The statewide program serves more than 10,000 families per year across more than 38 counties. GF4L has also grown from 3 partner farmers markets in 2009 to a network of 62 farmers markets and direct-marketing farms in 2018 that serve both rural and urban communities. The Fruit & Vegetable Prescription Program acts as a food-as-medicine intervention by promoting affordable access to fruits and vegetables in underserved communities through partnerships with healthcare providers like Grady Hospital, community organizations, and fresh produce retailers. The FVRx program also received the 2017 World Changing Ideas award from Fast Company, Inc., which named the 12 “most innovative ideas to make the world better.”

SPRINGER MOUNTAIN FARMS TO HOST 3RD ANNUAL SOUTHERN WING SHOWDOWN AT THE FAIRMONT IN ATLANTA’S WEST MIDTOWN ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 5^TH

30 Top Chefs from Around the Southeast Will Compete for Best Wing

Event Has Sold Out Every Year and tickets are on sale NOW!

Springer Mountain Farms Southern Wing Showdown, the favorite summer festival celebrating unique takes on a Southern staple, will return for its third year on Sunday, August 5th. Produced by Taste of Atlanta, the event will feature creative talent from around 30 prominent Southeastern chefs, including chefs from Atlanta, Birmingham, Charleston, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Nashville, and Savannah. Each will serve their unique recipe in a competition for best wing. Local purveyor Springer Mountain Farms will provide all chicken, 100% natural and raised without antibiotics, steroids, growth stimulants or hormones. Angel Flight, a volunteer pilot organization located at Dekalb Peachtree airport and providing flight services to patients in need of medical-related care, will be a nonprofit beneficiary for this event and will host a silent auction on-site.

 

For the first time, the festival is moving from The Foundry at Puritan Mill to a larger space at The Fairmont (1429 Fairmont Ave NW), a newly opened modern and industrial event venue in Atlanta’s West Midtown neighborhood. The 19,000-square-foot space will house multiple activations, from cooking demonstrations to tastings and games. Guests will be able to enjoy wings and sides (plus beverages) from acclaimed chefs such as Matt Basford of Canoe and Jared Hall from One Flew South in Atlanta, Georgia, and Duane Nutter of The Southern National in Mobile, Alabama.

 

Starting in May, tickets will be available for purchase online and will grant access to all-you-can-eat tastes and drinks, including signature cocktails, beer and wine. There will be both General Admission and VIP tickets, with the first hour reserved for VIP First Taster attendees. VIP guests will also have access to the Southern Spirit Lounge throughout the event, offering refreshments and seating.

Historic Fourth Ward Park

The Atlanta Spring Wine Fest will be held on Saturday, April 14^th from 1 – 5 pm at Historic Fourth Ward Park. They’ll have over 50 wines as well as a selection of beer and cider to choose from. There will be live music, plenty of fun and games, and food will be available for purchase. The wine list will be added to the website soon.
