CYPRESS STREET PINT AND PLATE’S GIRL SCOUT COOKIE AND BEER PAIRING

Saturday, March 4th at 11 am

Location: Cypress Street Pint and Plate

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 3/1/17

Girl Scout cookie lovers and beer connoisseurs can visit Cypress Street Pint & Plate this Saturday, March 4, 2017 for a special Girl Scout cookie beer pairing. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Girl Scouts from Troop 15524 will be at Cypress Street Pint & Plate selling their highly anticipated cookies. Enthusiasts interested in the beer pairing can enjoy Thin Mints paired with Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro, Samoas paired with Cherry Street O.A.S.I.S. (Old As S*** Imperial Stout), Savannah Smiles paired with Avery’s Liliko’i Kepolo and Toffee-Tastic paired with Green’s Endeavor Dubbel throughout the day, or until supplies last. For more information or the complete menu, please visit  www.cypressbar.com .

Beer Pairings Include:

Thin Mints with Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro

The dark malty milk stout will tie together the minty crunchy body and rich dark chocolate found in Thin Mints. The nitro version will add a velvety mouthfeel to really bring home the milk and cookie effect. Strong flavor profiles are needed to stand up to an already loud and delicious cookie and this nitro milk stout will deliver.

Samoas with Cherry Street O.A.S.I.S. (Old As S*** Imperial Stout)

The semi-sweet chocolate and toasted coconut from the cookie will pair great with this whiskey and coco nib infused stout. It will start with raisins and booze up front and linger with a sweet whiskey finish. With notes of vanilla, chocolates and dark fruits, this will pair great with the coconut chocolate cookie.

Savannah Smiles with Avery’s Liliko’i Kepolo

Savannah Smiles is a lemon butter cookie with powdered sugar and it will pair nicely with a super light bodied witbier. The Liliko’i is flared up with passionfruit but will hold on to a slightly tart and acidic finish. It will compliment this light cookie without overpowering it.

Toffee-Tastic with Green’s Endeavor Dubbel

This is a buttery, gluten-free cookie with toffee bits that will pair nicely with Green’s gluten-free Belgian Dubbel. It still has a traditional Belgian Dubbel yeast bouquet with a sweet, malty mouthfeel and tastes of dark sugar and toffee. Instead of overpowering the cookie, the toffee-tastic should bring out some hidden notes in this dubbel.

ATLANTA (January XX, 2017) – Atlas, the acclaimed restaurant located at the St. Regis Atlanta celebrating both art and seasonal American cuisine combined with European influences, has introduced The Tavern at Atlas. The newly designed library and lounge open at 4 p.m. daily and offers guests a fresh menu of locally-sourced small plates and hand-shaken cocktails served in a comfortable and lively atmosphere.

Created by Executive Chef Chris Grossman, The Tavern at Atlas menu boasts perfectly portioned small plates crafted to be shared at by guests at their leisure. New favorites include petit lobster pot pie; citrus-cured salmon flatbread; Atlas sliders; Island Creek roasted oysters on the half shell; rosemary roasted ruby beet tartare; 24-hour cast iron seared steak and more.

Complimenting Chef Grossman’s menu is an impressive beverage program comprised of creative, signature cocktails, wines, bubbly, craft beers and more. With something for all tastes, a sampling of expertly crafted cocktails include the Zac 23 Old Fashioned – Ron Zacapa 23 Rum, Aztec Chocolate and Angostura Bitters, Grapefruit Peel, Ice Ball; Southern Buck American Spirits White Whiskey, Ginger Beer, Lime Juice, Shaved Ice; and The Titaness – Raventos Sparkling Wine, Cocchi Rosa, Creme de Cassis, Lime Juice.

SUPER BOWL LI WAGER: ATLANTA’S TWO URBAN LICKS V BOSTON’S STRIP BY STREGA

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 2/2/17

Atlanta’s TWO urban licks and Boston’s STRIP by Strega Place Friendly Wager in Time

Super Bowl LI

In Honor of the Big Game this Sunday, Local Restaurant Raises the Stakes

In honor of the rivalry brewing between the two cities leading up to the Super Bowl game, Atlanta’s Concentrics Restaurants has placed a friendly wager with Boston restaurateur Nick Varano of STRIP by Strega.

If Atlanta comes out on top this Sunday and defeats New England on the field, STRIP by Strega will ship down an authentic taste of Boston by sharing a traditional New England Clambake, expertly crafted by STRIP by Strega Executive Chef Farouk Bazoune, along with a $250 donation to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.  If New England gets the win, Chef Michael Bertozzi of TWO urban licks will send up a traditional southern BBQ dinner, boasting favorites including mouth-watering brisket and pork ribs, and will make a $250 donation to a Boston-based food pantry.

The wager has been placed and the stakes are high. Both cities are confident in their hometown team, however only one city will be celebrating the big win with a full belly, and we have a feeling that TWO urban licks will be enjoying a clambake come Monday.

Super Bowl Sunday – February 5, 2017

LADYBIRD HOSTS LAUNCH OF LAWN DART

Thursday, December 29th at 7pm

Location: Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 12/27/16

Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall is hosting a launch party on Thursday, December 29th, starting at 7 pm, for Old Fourth Distillery’s new liqueur, LAWN DART, made with cold-pressed ginger and vapor-infused lemon.
The party is open to the public, and guests will enjoy a special cocktail menu featuring O4D Lawn Dart, discounted bar snacks, and live music. The founders of O4D will also be in attendance.

Located in Atlanta’s historic Old Fourth Ward neighborhood at 684 John Wesley Dobbs Ave. NE, Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall is the first outdoor-oriented bar and restaurant to open along the Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside Trail, at mile marker 9.25. An in-town home away from home for Atlanta’s adventure seekers, Ladybird offers elevated campfire cuisine for dinner, lunch, and weekend brunch, and focuses on shareable dishes that rotate based on local availability. The beverage program features craft cocktails, wine, local beer, alongside housemade juices and sodas. The restaurant has been featured in Southern Living, Garden & Gun, Travel + Leisure, and much more. Earlier this year, they debuted their outdoor “Grove” space, featuring a bar inside a vintage, painted camper, hangout-friendly Adirondack chairs, communal, beer garden-style tables, string lights, Ping-Pong tables, and more.

Old Fourth Distillery was started by childhood friends who decided to open Atlanta’s first distillery since 1906, taking a neighborhood-centric, sustainable approach to creating the finest spirits available at any price. O4D uses sustainable non-GMO sugar cane to make its vodka, requiring less energy and creating zero waste. O4D’s only byproduct is pure, distilled water. Their cane sugar base and hands-on approach create a naturally gluten-free vodka with a soft, round mouthfeel and a subtle caramelized sugar aroma. Their Southern Dry Gin is vapor infused with only the finest fresh botanicals. Every bottle of O4D is made by hand in their 1100-square-foot distillery in the Old Fourth Ward. Three people create the fermentations, do the distillations, bottle, and package every drop of the signature vodka and gin. O4D uses a custom, handmade CARL copper still.
