GEORGIA’S FIRST BIERSCHNAPS RELEASE THIS SATURDAY!

Saturday, December 17th at 12pm

Location: Independent Distilling Company

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 12/11/16

Georgia’s First Bierschnaps Collaboration from

Independent Distilling Company and Three Taverns Brewery

ATLANTA (December 8, 2016) – Independent Distilling Company (IDC), in collaboration with their neighbors at Three Taverns Brewery, have created Georgia’s first Bierschnaps, which is a traditional German spirit made by distilling beer. In this case, the beer was Three Tavern’s 2014 Feest Noel Christmas Ale that is made from 100 percent malted barley with Belgian dark candy sugar and spiced with cardamom, allspice and cloves. This one-of-a-kind offering is being released as part of IDC’s “Outlier” series of experimental and limited-edition products on Saturday, December 17, from noon to 5 p.m. at IDC’s tasting room, with a limited amount being made available to restaurants and retail locations.

“I got an email from Three Taverns’ Brewmaster Joran Van Ginderachter asking if we were interested in distilling some of their Feest Noel,” said Independent Distilling owner Michael Anderson. “I said absolutely, but I’ve never heard of anyone distilling a spiced beer, so that’s going to be a wildcard.”

“Community is a big part of my life and was a catalyst for me in my exploration of beer. It’s something I wanted Three Taverns to be about since day  one and what makes projects like this so meaningful to me,” said Brian Purcell, founder and CEO of Three Taverns Craft Brewery. “We love what Independent Distilling is doing and to be able to work with them as neighbors and friends, and create something new, is really special.”

Hence, Outlier No 3 was born. Anderson used his 100-gallon copper pot still to transform the brew into an amazing distilled spirit and the first of its kind here in Georgia. With herbal vanilla aromas that evolve on the palate into cinnamon, cardamom and mace that are beautifully balanced with oak, the finish is long with subtle spice and a hint wood.

“Being small allows us the opportunity to do these types of one-offs and collaborative experiments and give people something they’ve never had before,” said Anderson. “In this case, a simple question from the other side of the parking lot has resulted in a truly exceptional spirit that I think people are going to be blown away by.”

Distillery Release

On Saturday, December 17, from noon to 5 p.m., Independent Distilling will be open for tours, tastings and souvenir bottles of the Outlier No 3 Bierschnaps Limited Edition for $50. Limited distribution is available through Savannah Distributing.

About Independent Distilling Company

Out of a passion for authentic, time-honored spirits, Independent Distilling Company (IDC) was formed in 2013 in Decatur, Georgia and quickly launched IDC’s popular Hellbender Corn Whiskey. IDC’s devotion to the distilling process of artisanal spirits from mashing to final bottling displays their commitment to genuine spirits. COMING SOON TO PHIPPS PLAZA: DANIEL REED’S PUBLIC KITCHEN AND BAR, EARL OF SANDWICH, AND ECCO

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 9/25/16

Notable dining options further complement Phipps Plaza’s multi-phase transformation

Foodies can anticipate more flavor this fall at Phipps Plaza, the Southeast’s top luxury shopping destination located in the heart of Atlanta’s fashionable Buckhead district. Management announced today the addition of two first-to-market dining options, Daniel Reed’s Public Kitchen & Bar and Earl of Sandwich, as well as the third location of an Atlanta culinary favorite, Ecco.

As a major component of Phipps Plaza’s renovation project, Daniel Reed’s Public Kitchen & Bar will join the center’s new Peachtree Road entrance in fall 2017. Recently unveiled in March of this year, the entrance has been transformed to be an elegant façade of storefronts representing some of the coveted brands that call Phipps Plaza home, including Jeffrey, Versace, Tiffany & Co., Giorgio Armani, BOSS Hugo Boss and Bottega Veneta.

Derived from its wildly popular flagship in Savannah, Daniel Reed’s Public Kitchen & Bar will serve fresh American cuisine in an approachable, relaxed atmosphere while providing true Southern hospitality to Atlanta patrons. A concept by Daniel Reed Hospitality, the restaurant is a mid-century-inspired, upscale casual eatery with quality, farm-to-table offerings. The menu will evolve with the trends of the season, creating a unique experience for Phipps Plaza and its guests.

Earl of Sandwich, a globally-recognized, fast casual sandwich establishment that boasts the freshest upscale ingredients, is set to introduce the ‘World’s Greatest Hot Sandwich®’ to Atlanta at Phipps Plaza in October. Located on the second level near Belk, the new location will feature an energetic and modern design, and a menu offering sandwiches, hand-crafted wraps, fresh salads, artisan soups and freshly baked dessert treats made in-house daily.

Scheduled to open in 2017, Ecco’s Buckhead location will occupy a new free-standing building outside Phipps Plaza at the corner of Peachtree and Wieuca Roads. The new location will continue the concept’s tradition of seasonal European cuisine with cosmopolitan flair. Similar to the Midtown location, the Buckhead outpost will boast inspired and locally sourced European small plates and entrees, a stylish atmosphere and an award-winning wine list.

“Phipps Plaza has always been a dynamic gathering spot for the Atlanta community,” said Eric Howard, general manager of Phipps Plaza. “Now with these highly anticipated restaurants, we’re enhancing the overall dining scene, and Atlantans will continue to discover something new each time they visit Phipps Plaza.”

BOCADO LUCKY 7TH ANNIVERSARY

Wednesday, September 28th at 5:30pm

Location: Bocado

On Wednesday, September 28th, BOCADO restaurant on Atlanta’s Westside is celebrating their LUCKY 7th anniversary! To celebrate, they’re offering the below for dinner starting at 5:30pm, in addition to the restaurant’s regular menu.

  • Half off BOCADO’s much-acclaimed double-stack burger. The BOCADO favorite is served with American cheese, housemade bread & butter pickles, and fries.
  • Fernet Branca milkshakes. A BOCADO classic that returns each year on the anniversary. They’re made with Fernet Branca, Angostura bitters, and vanilla bean gelato from Atlanta’s own Honeysuckle Gelato topped with whipped cream, mint, and a cherry. This velvety, indulgent beverage is the perfect nightcap.
  • Bell’s Hopslam Ale. The restaurant will be pouring this very limited Pacific Northwest beer with six different hop varietals and a blend of grapefruit, stone fruit, and floral notes. A generous malt bill and a solid dollop of honey provide just enough body to keep the balance in check, resulting in a remarkably drinkable rendition of the Double IPA style.

ABOUT BOCADO

BOCADO restaurant serves contemporary, eclectic American cuisine on a rotating seasonal menu, paired with playful, classic cocktails, as well as craft beer and wine. Spanish for “bite” or “mouthful,” BOCADO was opened on Atlanta’s Westside in 2009 by restaurateur Brian Lewis. The seasonal and locally sourced menu changes frequently, with dinner featuring small, experimental plates and larger entrees, and lunch including creative sandwiches and sides. BOCADO’s much-acclaimed double-stack burger is a favorite and is served with American cheese, housemade B&B pickles, and fries. Housed in a former woodworking shop, the restaurant’s minimalist aesthetic highlights the simplicity and freshness of the food. In 2010, BOCADO was named to Atlanta Magazine’s list of “Best New Restaurants,” and in 2012, Brian was named by StarChefs as a “Rising Star Restaurateur.”
