Benefitting Atlanta Mission, community invited to get in the festive spirit with live llamas, new restaurants and more along Main Street
Festive llamas, a dancing Santa, family-friendly activities and more will once again kick off the holiday season at Uptown Atlanta, the mixed-use destination located between Midtown and Buckhead. On Nov. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m., the community is invited to experience the fifth annual “Laughs, Llamas and Pajamas” event, hosted on Uptown’s activated Main Street. The event is free to attend.
Beginning at 6 p.m., guests can begin interacting with a herd of friendly, pajama-wearing llamas from Wits End Llama Consortium. Attendees will spend time and capture photo-worthy moments with the llamas while taking advantage of Uptown’s newly opened retail and restaurants. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite cozy pajamas to meet and greet the llamas. For even more festive spirit, Funky Santa will take the stage for a hilarious, Jingle Jam dance party. During the event, kids can enjoy crafting their own mini-llama holiday ornaments.
As is tradition, attendees are encouraged to support local nonprofit Atlanta Mission by donating pairs of new youth and adult pajamas at the event. Atlanta Mission is a homeless shelter serving more than 1,000 men, women and children across Atlanta and Northeast Georgia, and since the event’s inception, the community has donated hundreds of pairs of pajamas.
“Uptown has come to life with new retailers and restaurants and we’re thrilled to celebrate this momentum by inviting the community to experience this beloved tradition,” said Bernard Lee, general manager for Rubenstein. “This event is not only an exciting celebration of the start of the holiday season, but is also a meaningful way to give back to those in need by supporting the impactful work of Atlanta Mission.”
Convenient event parking is located at the Uptown City Center Deck. Parking will cost $5 for the first two hours. In addition, Main Street at Uptown is just steps away from the Lindbergh MARTA station.
Uptown encompasses nearly 1 million square feet of office space, 110,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and a variety of community gathering spaces. Sugarcoat, the award-winning nail and beauty salon, is now open in addition to several retailers and restaurants, including White Windmill, the popular bakery and coffee shop that blends French baking with Korean flavors; Madre Selva, a vibrant Latin-Coastal restaurant; El Gordo, an authentic taqueria; Bene Korean, an upscale Korean barbeque; J’ouvert Caribbean Kitchen, a street food and brunch restaurant; Roundhouse Kickboxing, a dynamic fitness studio; The Commodore, a retro barbershop; and Fly on a Wall, an Atlanta-based arts platform and studio. The new restaurants and retail join 26 Thai Kitchen and Bar and Chow À La Carte at Uptown Test Kitchen, a novel culinary experience designed to bring the community and local chefs from around the world together.
