One part brunch, one part stress relief. Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, at SKOL Brewing Company skips the usual playbook. No set menus, no quiet dining rooms, no pressure to dress it up. Just good food, strong drinks, and something no one else is offering: complimentary axe throwing for moms, courtesy of American Axes. Set inside the historic 200 Peachtree, a short walk from Mercedes-Benz Stadium, State Farm Arena, and Centennial Yards, SKOL keeps the energy up with an à la carte brunch that leans hearty and straightforward. Brisket hash with eggs, chicken and waffles with hot honey, smoked salmon benedict, and the SKOLl Classic omelette with bacon, cheddar, and hash browns folded inside. Nordic French toast with berry compote for something sweet, and a breakfast burger topped with a fried egg and maple black pepper aioli for anyone leaning savory. Plates that show up hot and don’t need explaining. SKOL classics like the Berserker Burger and signature SKOL Dip remain in play, alongside cheese curds, wings, and other favorites that have quickly defined the menu. Bottomless mimosas keep things moving, alongside a Bloody Mary loaded enough to count as a side. MOM’S DAY GIFTING OUTSIDE THE BOX

Jittery Joe’s Mama’s Boy Blend Puts a Southern Spin on Mother’s Day Gifting

Some titles come with expectations. This Mother’s Day, it starts with Mom, and what she actually reaches for every morning. Jittery Joe’s Coffee makes a strong case for getting it right with its Mama’s Boy blend, a bright, easy-drinking roast inspired by Mama’s Boy in Athens, where the coffee is strong and the regulars know exactly what they’re ordering. The blend keeps things simple in the best way. Clean, balanced, and reliable enough to reach for without thinking twice. Call it what you want. She’ll think of you every time she pours a cup. From there, the options open up. Jittery Joe’s has made a name for itself through collaborations that celebrate Southern culture, and the lineup reflects it, from the Fox Theatre Blue Sky Blend for the mom who loves a night at the theatre, to Pete the Cat favorites inspired by the beloved children’s book character, and The Kitchen Brew, created with Eric Roddy, a medium roast for the pickleball-playing mom who’s always in motion. Founded in Athens in 1994, Jittery Joe’s has built a national following through small-batch roasting and a steady stream of collaborations tied to music, culture, and community, while continuing to roast every batch back in Georgia. Everything ships nationwide, so it arrives right at her door.  Mama’s Boy medium roast is $20.99 and available at jitteryjoes.com. For updates on new releases, events, and more, follow @jitteryjoescoffee on Instagram.

This Mother’s Day, Wine Moms Rewrite the Pour with Nine Dot

For years, the “wine mom” trope has been everywhere—memes, merch, and a cultural shorthand for winding down at the end of a long day. But this Mother’s Day, a different kind of ritual is taking hold. More moms are reaching for cannabis-infused beverages instead of a second glass of wine, trading hangovers and sugar crashes for something lighter, more controlled, and decidedly more modern. Call it a shift, call it an upgrade, but the message is clear: the way moms unwind is evolving. Enter Nine Dot, the Atlanta-born cannabis beverage brand quietly becoming the go-to for those in the know. Designed as a low-dose, alcohol alternative, Nine Dot delivers a fast-acting, social buzz in as little as 10 to 15 minutes without the calories or next-day fog. The lineup meets the moment, whether it’s a subtle 3mg THC / 5mg CBG blend for a relaxed, easy lift or a higher-dose 10mg option for those ready to lean in a little further. Now available in fresh flavors like Berry Punch and Peach Punch in addition to the original Tropical Punch, the lineup brings a more dynamic, fruit-forward edge to the experience. The effect is consistent, the flavor is clean, and the experience feels more like a choice than a crutch. It’s also changing the tone of the conversation. What was once framed as coping is now about intention. How to unwind, how to socialize, how to take the edge off without overdoing it. For a growing number of women, that means drinking outside the box. This Mother’s Day, the gifting playbook is shifting too. Flowers are nice. Brunch reservations are expected. But a fridge stocked with something she’ll actually reach for later? That’s the move. Nine Dot is available for purchase online at DrinkNine.com and at select Atlanta retailers and dining destinations, including Grant Park Market, 3 Parks Wine in Glenwood Park and Old Fourth Ward, The Zero Co., Hop City, Red’s Beer Garden, Home Grown, and more. All products are hemp-derived, federally compliant, and intended for adults 21+. For more information, including product offerings and retail locations, visit DrinkNine.com and follow along on Instagram and TikTok at @DrinkNineDot. Made in Atlanta, Georgia.

GRANT PARK CONSERVANCY UNVEILS FIRST MARKET IN THE PARK LINEUP AHEAD OF APRIL 19 DEBUT

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 4/11/26

Chef-Driven Food, Local Makers, Live Music, and Family-Friendly Experiences Set for Grant Park’s New Monthly Series

Kicking Off Saturday, April 19 | 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Grant Park Conservancy is rolling out the first look at vendors and programming for Market in the Park, debuting Sunday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Boulevard Green, adjacent to Grant Park Gateway. Timed with Earth Day weekend, the opening market brings together a strong mix of local food, makers, and community partners, setting the tone for the Conservancy’s new monthly series.

The food lineup leads with a mix of established names and market-ready concepts. Sweet Auburn BBQ and Tio Lucho’s Hermanita pop-up headline the opening day with chef-driven dishes suited for an outdoor setting. They are joined by 2C Coffee and TeaPlump Pressed Juice, and Curated Coffee, Books & Plants, along with artisan baking from Bistro to Go Inc., and handheld favorites from Coffyn Pyes. Plant-based treats from GOAP (Greatest Of All Pops), kombucha from Witchy Kombvchy and vegan options from Grant Park Coffeehouse round out a food lineup designed for a full afternoon in the park.

The vendor lineup pulls in a mix of vintage, handmade, and small-batch goods with a clear local thread. Vintage finds from Nostalgia The Vintique Market and Grant Park Vintage sit alongside mixed-metal jewelry from Pink Scorpio Handmade and The Nix Generation, sustainable goods from Joyful Jarra, and upcycled fashion from Magpie Dreams and Honeybear Handmade. Handmade ceramics by Christina Kosinski, concrete and mixed-material planters from Luke’s Pots, and artisan kitchen goods from Beloved Gourmet add to the mix, alongside accessories and one-of-a-kind pieces from vendors like Fused Forever.

Plant and garden vendors also play a strong role in the opening lineup, with Roots & Relics, Greenshed Gardens, and Love Joy Farm offering houseplants, herbs, orchids, and seasonal starts, joined by Georgia-grown fruit from Georgia Proud Provisions.

Programming is layered throughout the day, with a focus on families, education, and hands-on participation. Zoo Atlanta will be on-site with interactive programming centered on wildlife and conservation as part of the Earth Day weekend kickoff. CHaRM (Center for Hard to Recycle Materials) will provide resources on recycling and waste reduction, while The Little Gym of Grant Park will host movement-based activities for kids. Additional activities include LEGO-based play from Snapology of Atlanta East and storytelling from True Heart Tails and Chill and Quill Publishing.

Additional experiences include a free yoga session at 10 a.m., open to all ages; a seed paper activity hosted by the Conservancy; and live music throughout the day, with Caribbean Steel, R&Bern, and Port Royal kicking off at 11 a.m.

Market in the Park will also take place on May 17 and June 14, with each month introducing new vendors, fresh programming, and seasonal additions. The series arrives as Conservancy-led improvements continue across the park, including the transformation of the historic Milledge Fountain area into an outdoor classroom and theatre, alongside ongoing enhancements at the Boulevard Green and Gateway entrance.

Designed around a simple idea, goods and gatherings for all, Market in the Park reflects the Conservancy’s ongoing work to create more ways to experience and connect with Grant Park. Parking is available at the Grant Park Gateway facility, located at 759 Boulevard SE. For additional information, visit www.gpconservancy.org and follow along on Instagram at @grantpark.atlanta.

PERFORMANCE JAM ATL PRESENTS DETROIT BY LISA D’AMOUR AT PULLMAN YARDS

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 4/8/26

Limited Two-Week Run Begins April 24 Through May 03, 2026

Tickets On Sale Now

DETROIT, Lisa D’Amour’s dark comedy Pulitzer Prize finalist play about a fractious, frightened America, examined through the eyes of suburban neighbors, and featuring members of Performance Jam, will run from April 24 to May 3, 2026 at Pullman Yards.

Known for its sold-out, “not to be missed” production of THE SEAGULL in the fall of 2024, Performance Jam is a creative hub for local Atlanta actors, writers, and filmmakers to gather and explore. The group was co-founded by actress Vivian Bang, known for her Sundance feature White Rabbit, Netflix rom-com Always Be My Maybe, and, most recently, HBO’s satire The Parenting.

When many are questioning what it means to be American and struggling with financial and emotional instability, DETROIT reflects this moment of fractured individuation, times of generative automation and constant social media, a precipice between generations, disillusionment with systems, and ways of life that are disappearing.

Set in a suburban backyard, Mary and Ben invite their new neighbors, Kenny and Sharon, for a barbecue. Worried about their Home Depot/TJ Maxx purchases and their future, they learn that the souls’ deepest need is to rub shoulders with the unexpected, come what may. Is Sharon an unstable kook or a prophet? Some of her most profound lines ask, “Are we twigs floating down a stream? Or are we carpenters building a house?” Producing DETROIT allows us to purge these fears through entanglement, art, and creativity. It brings the contradictions of human nature to the surface with humor, pain, and great compassion. It’s a spark that can burn down houses and ignite true transformation.

DETROIT is co-directed by Vivian Bang and Fiona Campbell. The cast features Vivian Bang, Love Floyd, Eric Whitten, Dan Cutts, and Craig Anton. Technical Design by Mason C Brown. Movement Consulting by Erin O’Connor. Set and Prop Design by Zoe Kruse.

This limited two-week run begins April 24 through May 3, 2026.  Friday and Saturday performances begin promptly at 8p, and Sunday performances begin at 3p. For full details and ticket options, including pre-show barbecue and drink purchase, guests can go HEREDETROIT is produced by Performance Jam. Stay connected on Instagram @PerformanceJam.

BRIGITTE CALLS ME BABY PLAYING ATLANTA’S VINYL AT CENTER STAGE ON 5/9

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 4/6/26

They just wrapped a run in the UK supporting The Vaccines and will kick off their headline North American tour this week. They’ll be stopping in Atlanta, playing at Vinyl at Center Stage on May 9th

The Chicago band has had a pretty insane couple of years – they released their debut album in 2024 which led to performances on Kimmel, Kelly Clarkson and CBS, to touring with Morrissey, a Lollapalooza festival slot and more! The live show is spectacular, and that is the entire ethos of this new record – capturing the energy and grandeur of their show.  The album was produced by Yves Rothman and Lawrence Rothman (Blondshell, Yves Tumor), and tracked after dialing the songs in on tour.

SHARE FINAL SINGLE “I CAN TAKE THE SUN OUT OF THE SKY”

OFF SOPHOMORE ALBUM IRREVERSIBLEOUT FRIDAY ON ATO RECORDS

NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE TOUR THIS APRIL

Ahead of their sophomore album release this Friday, Chicago-band Brigitte Calls Me Baby delivers the album’s buoyant single “I Can Take the Sun Out of the Sky.” An instant transmission of pure unfiltered feeling propelled by an infectious guitar melody, the song is immediately grabbing and impossible to shake. There’s an open-road feel to the track, but beneath it hums a touch of melancholic grandeur.

“It would be easy to overthink a song like “I Can Take the Sun out of the Sky”, but it was such a last minute addition to the record that we weren’t afforded the opportunity,” shares bassist Devin Wessels. “What resulted was a song and recording that relied solely on our collective instincts and highlights a different side to our sound that we’re excited to share.”

Centered on a boldly singular sound that feels both thrillingly new and immediately essential to the modern rock landscape, Irreversible artfully embraces flawed humanity through the distinct voice that Leavins first cultivated by writing songs as a 13-year-old kid in Port Arthur, Texas. “My whole inclination toward music came from being in this small town in Texas with nowhere to go and nothing to do, and wanting to be understood without having to say anything,” he says.

Produced by Yves Rothman and Lawrence Rothman (Blondshell, Yves Tumor), Irreversible marks the follow-up to their critically lauded 2024 debut The Future Is Our Way Out. Recorded live at Lawrence’s home studio, the 11-song LP reveals a band profoundly transformed by their countless hours on the road and instilled with a newfound fearlessness.

In the wake of their 2024 debut, the band spent the past couple of years touring extensively — including sold-out runs across the US, UK, and Europe alongside Morrissey, Muse, and Fontaines D.C., as well as television performances on Kimmel, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and CBS. That momentum now carries into this new era, as they prepare to bring Irreversible on the road this spring with a North American headline tour stopping in Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Nashville, DC, NYC, and more.

The tour follows upcoming headline dates in the UK and a run supporting The Vaccines. See the full list of dates below — find tickets HERE.

FAILURE PLAYING ATLANTA’S MASQUERADE – HELL ON 5/6

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 4/6/26

Failure, one of the most influential bands of the 90s, recently announced their newest album, Location Lost, out April 24th. To celebrate the album’s release, they are heading on tour and will stop to play at Masquerade – Hell in Atlanta, GA on 5/6.

Location Lost is Failure’s seventh studio album and their fourth since reuniting in 2014 after a 17-year hiatus. One of the most influential bands of the 90s, Failure has inspired many peers and younger stars, including Hayley Williams who is featured on the album. Recorded after the completion of the recent Hulu/Disney+ documentary ‘Every Time You Lose Your Mind,’ Location Lost doesn’t arrive as a victory lap or a nostalgia exercise. Instead, it sounds like a band actively negotiating where — and who — they are now. The album showcases a focused, modern and ever-evolving vision of Failure’s utterly unique sound.

Failure’s promising rise was derailed by drug addiction and record company inertia by the late-90s, but the trio left a profound imprint that transcended their affiliation with the LA alt-rock scene. Directed by the band’s frontman Ken Andrews, the doc has been a decade in the making. The film features interviews with David Dastmalchian, Margaret Cho, Hayley Williams, Jason Schwartzman, Tommy Lee, Maynard James Keenan, Butch Vig and more.

FOURTH ANNUAL SPARK 5K

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 4/3/26

Fourth Annual Spark 5K Unites Atlanta for Fun, High-Energy Celebration of Community, Inclusion and Friendly Competition

Race raises funds to empower people with disabilities and transform child literacy

The Spark 5K, presented by Roark, returns to Piedmont Park on Thursday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m. ET for its fourth annual celebration of community, movement, and purpose. More than a race, this high-energy evening combines fun, fitness and a spirited corporate challenge all to raise funds supporting two impactful nonprofit partners: The Kyle Pease Foundation and Malcolm Mitchell’s Share the Magic Foundation.

An event that has continued to grow in both number of participants and amount raised over the last three years, the Spark 5K welcomes runners, walkers, in-chair athletes and supporters from across the Atlanta area to enjoy an inclusive course through Piedmont Park. Whether you’re chasing a personal best, strolling with friends, simply enjoying a night at the park, or cheering from the sidelines, this event is designed for participants of all abilities.

The event will also be continuing its tradition as a dynamic corporate challenge, rallying Atlanta-based companies to show their team spirit while connecting employees outside the office to make a lasting difference in our community. Businesses of all sizes are encouraged to join forces, register their teams at Spark5K.com, and compete for awards recognizing the most spirited, creative, and engaged groups.

Race beneficiaries, The Kyle Pease Foundation continues to champion opportunities for inclusion, ensuring in-chair athletes have a place in sports while working to enhance the lives of individuals with disabilities, and Share the Magic Foundation remains dedicated to changing lives through literacy, bringing joy and educational empowerment to children facing challenges.

“The Spark 5K represents everything our foundation believes in – inclusion, teamwork, perseverance, and the power of community,” said Kyle Pease, Co-Founder and Director of Inclusion at The Kyle Pease Foundation. “We’re excited to be part of this annual event yet again, and seeing our athletes, corporate teams, families and friends is incredibly powerful. It truly shows how much stronger our community becomes when we rally for a shared purpose.”

Atlanta natives Kyle Pease and Malcolm Mitchell, along with former University of Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, as well as other local athletes and corporate representatives will all be on hand to celebrate the event. All registered participants will receive a Spark 5K branded tee and enjoy refreshments at the finish line, with prizes awarded to standout individuals and company teams, and delectable offerings from McAlister’s Deli and Dave’s Hot Chicken awaiting participants at the finish line.

“The Spark 5K continues to be a powerful reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together with purpose,” said Malcolm Mitchell, Founder and CEO of Share the Magic Foundation. “Each year, this event grows not just in size, but in impact—helping us reach more children, inspire more readers, and create more opportunities through literacy. We’re proud to once again partner with Roark and The Kyle Pease Foundation to turn collective energy into meaningful change.”

Registration is open for individuals, school teams, run clubs, and corporate teams at Spark5K.com, so lace up your sneakers, rally your team, and join Atlantans for an evening where every step matters. See you at the starting line on Thursday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m. ET!

“At Roark, helping people and companies reach their full potential also means investing in the communities where we live and work,” said Allison Hill, Chief Social Impact and Content Officer at Roark. “Last year, more than 700 participants joined the Spark 5K and helped raise $172,000 for two incredible Atlanta nonprofits. Just as meaningful, the event brought colleagues, partners and friends from across the business community together outside the office. We’re excited to build on that momentum this year and welcome even more teams for an evening of connection, camaraderie and impact.”

MYSTIC DISTRICT MARKETPLACE RETURNS WITH “THE INFERNO EDITION” – A CELEBRATION OF ART, PERFORMANCE, AND RADICAL SELF-EXPRESSION

Posted by Liz and John Attaway, 4/3/26

An immersive night of music, vendors, and late-night cabaret unites Atlanta’s alternative arts scene.

Mystic District Marketplace returns for another immersive year with The Inferno Edition, a night of art, performance, and radical self-expression. Taking place on Saturday, April 11th from 4 PM to 1 AM at Star Community Bar, this annual gathering invites the public to step into a world where creativity, community, and catharsis collide.

A beloved staple in Atlanta’s alternative arts scene, Mystic District Marketplace has grown into more than a market. What began as a grassroots gathering of artists, witches, and curious creatives has evolved into a vibrant, inclusive space where attendees are encouraged to embrace individuality, celebrate identity, and connect with their “coven.”

This year’s Inferno Edition embraces themes of transformation and release, “burning it all down” to make space for joy, connection, and collective renewal.

“Mystic District gifts the opportunity to intentionally curate a space where Atlanta’s artists, performers, and creatives can be fully seen and celebrated. The Inferno Edition is about transformation: releasing what no longer serves us and creating space for joy, connection, and self-expression. We built this as a haven for the community to come together, explore, and experience something truly immersive and liberating.”
– Liz Peña, Producer of Mystic District Marketplace.

Mystic District Marketplace offers a dynamic, multi-sensory experience unfolding in two parts across the evening.

From 4 PM to 10 PM (18+), guests are invited to explore the outdoor mystic market, featuring 25+ curated local vendors offering art, vintage pieces, handmade goods, tarot readings, taxidermy, and metaphysical curiosities. The market will also feature interactive art, live DJ sets, and fire performances woven throughout the night.

From 10 PM to 1 AM (21+), the experience transitions indoors for a late-night cabaret, hosted by Mecca Mwah. This high-energy showcase will feature a lineup of drag, burlesque, and experimental performances by Taylor ALXNDRRoyal TeeKoochie Koochie Ku, and City Alien, alongside DJ sets by GeeXellaEvan Flow, and Lezzie McGuire.

In addition to its performances and marketplace, Mystic District Marketplace remains committed to uplifting the local community. This year’s event will include a raffle benefiting GLAHR (Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights), supporting ongoing mutual aid efforts within Atlanta.

Attendees are encouraged to embrace the theme with inferno-inspired attire, cosplay, and bold self-expression, contributing to the event’s signature atmosphere of creativity and freedom. Food and drinks will be available on-site via Star Community Bar.

Mystic District Marketplace continues to serve as a platform for Atlanta’s diverse creative community, bringing together artists, performers, and small businesses in a space designed for exploration, celebration, and connection.
