2015 Oakhurst Wine Crawl

Oakhurst turned out to be a cute little town! Being our first real wine crawl and festival, it had everything from Pinot Noirs to Pinot Grigios, as well as every type in between. Liz’s favorite was the Pepi Pinot Grigio, for white wine lovers everywhere!

What made it even better was the festival extended out to local, near-by restaurants with their own wine tastings, which included two we crawled to: Universal Joint and Steinbeck’s.  We’ll adventure there again another day!

TERRAPIN Wake-N-Bake Off 2015

Terrapin Wake-n-Bake is the best beer on the planet and we traveled to Athens, GA on Saturday, January 17th to partake in their annual Wake-N-Bake Off.

Our favorite home bakers were Megan Buck and Luke Starr with their Wake-N-Bake Oreo Truffels and Wake-N-Bake Bomb Boozie Cupcakes by Jennifer Wyatt .

In the restaurant category, the highlight of the restaurant category was 5&10’s Dark Side of the Moon Pie.

Beer Geek Carnival at Cypress Street Pint & Plate

Good burgers, good beers, and a fun carnival atmosphere were a win all the way around. The highlights were: The best burger in Atlanta, The Sublime Donut Burger paired with the Clown Shoes Imperial Stout (and one Porter) flight = best.meal.ever. It also didn’t hurt that there were fire wielders, circus acts, and acrobats on hand.

Braves + Weezer Concert

Even though the Braves didn’t win, we met a few people and enjoyed some very good seats. Highlights: The usher trying to start the wave (TRYING) with much hilarity. Weezer playing Buddy Holly into The Sweater Song. Together. The crowd loved it.

Yelp LIVE at The Tabernacle 2014

It never ceases to amaze me how Yelp can always knock it out of the park with their free parties for all Atlanta’s fellow yelpers. This year’s highlights: we discovered The Octopus Project with their indie-ambient vibes and a caramel bacon donut from Revolution Donoughts. Who can say no to that?

Soundgarden and Nine Inch Nails, Atlanta 2014

If you would have told us ten years ago we would be seeing Soundgarden and NIN in the same concert, we would have not believed you. Both bands rose to the occasion with a full concert under the Lakewood Amphitheater awning. Highlights included: Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” and “Fell on Black Days,” as well and NIN’s Trent Reznor playing the piano live to introduce “Everyday is Exactly the Same” and of course, “Closer.” Things you don’t see every day.

Zombie Pub Crawl 2014

In our third year going, the annual (and really, only) zombie pub crawl is always a whole lot of fun. This year’s highlights included the zombie D.J. booth, zombies, and zombies. You can never get enough. Enjoy the show.

Red White and Brews at the Georgia Aquarium 2014

For the 4th of July, we went to the Georgia Aquarium’s Red, White, and Brews event. The whales and tiger sharks were in full force, while I swore the whales were dancing and performing for us! Highlights of this event were: The whales and tiger sharks of course, but we also enjoyed the Eventide Stout, Desperados beer and a spectacular fireworks display from the Aquarium parking deck.

Unplugged In The Park 2014

For the past few years, Park Tavern has been putting on Unplugged In The Park, a free Sunday live concert open to the public on the Park Tavern stage. This year included one of our local favorite bands, Stokeswood, so we had to check it out this year. Highlights: Adam laying on the floor singing and the energy of the crowd. These are every weekend through mid-September, so check it out this weekend!

Wild Heaven Grand Opening 2014

It finally happened! Wild Heaven opened it’s tap room and brewery in Decatur, GA! We were on hand to check out Wild Heaven’s new digs, while taking in several longtime favorites like Ode to Mercy and new ones including the Barley Wine. Highlights: the brewery tour by Nick, the President, himself and the Ode To Mercy brewed with Expresso. They are now open every weekend, you should stop by this weekend!
