THE AVENUE WEST COBB MARKS THE END OF SUMMER WITH CHRISTMAS IN JULY, ART AT THE AVENUE, TOUCH-A-TRUCK AND MORE

The center signs off on summer with a jam-packed free event lineup from now until September

The Avenue West Cobb is wrapping up the summer season with a fantastic line-up of free, family-friendly events open to the public happening now through September.

“We have a packed schedule of activities for the entire family to enjoy the remainder of the summer season,” says Alondra Moya, marketing manager for The Avenue West Cobb. “From art installations and trivia nights to summer parties and donation drives, we are thrilled to invite the community to our events at The Avenue West Cobb as we say goodbye to summer in a big way!”

The Avenue West Cobb has partnered with the South Cobb Arts Alliance (SCAA) for Art at the Avenue, which includes a National Juried Art Exhibit open Friday-Saturdays from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon- 5 p.m. — now through August 4.  In addition, the center will host a series of activities and performances from local artists and students showcasing their talents to the community. The schedule is as follows: 

  • Art in Action at the Avenue  – July 27 at1 p.m.

A live art demonstration by SCAA Artist Bryan Jeppson.

  • Georgia Ballet Performance –  July 28 at 1 p.m.
  • Author Book Reading + More – July 28 at 2 p.m.

Joanne Telcide-Bryant, author of I’m Just Dying to be Queen Bee, will read aloud to shoppers and guests. Following the book reading, guests can participate in interactive learning activities including children’s book art illustrations, a science of honeybees and bee hive demonstration from local honey producer Home Town Honey and a free first come-first serve art class by an SCAA student artist for all ages.

More End-of-Summer Events and Activities:

  • Christmas in July – July 25 from 5-8:30 p.m.

Beat the summer heat with a delightful photo opportunity alongside Hawaiian Santa. Additional activities and entertainment includes balloonists, face painting, live DJ, sandman competition and a bounce house.

  • Harry Potter Birthday Party – July 31 from 4-5 p.m.

Located in Barnes and Noble, guests can enjoy Harry Potter themed trivia, games, readings and birthday cake.

  • Summer Foamalicious Party – August 2 from 5-7 p.m. 

Cool off before school starts with a dance party featuring a splashy foam machine, games, prizes and more! The Foamalicious Party will take place next to Otters Chicken.

  • LifeSouth Blood Drive – August 7 from 11-4 p.m.

Join us in saving lives! The LifeSouth Blood Drive will be held near the Green Space located by Hallmark and Barnes & Noble. All donors will receive a $20 e-gift card after their contribution.

  • TOUCH-A-TRUCK – September 6 from 6-8 p.m.

Bring the whole family to enjoy food trucks, first responder vehicles, buses and cranes.   Additional activities include balloon artists, face painting, a bounce house, vendors, and a DJ.
